In the morning, guests will be picked up from their hotels to begin this tour. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations. Our day will begin at sunrise, when we will visit the striking USS Arizona Memorial, a quietly moving placing where we will learn firsthand of the history, tragedy, and heroism of the attack that propelled the U.S. into World War II. Afterwards, when the day is well underway, we will pass through the center of Oahu, heading toward the North Shore. We will stop at the Dole Plantation, which provides refreshment and relaxation. Passing through some of the small towns that dot the coast of the North Shore, such as Sunset, Piplene, and Waimea Bay, we will pick up the laid-back local rhythm of the surfing culture and country-island lifestyle. Among the island's lush and rugged mountain range, we will reach the elevated battlefield of Nu'uanu Pali, where King Kamehameha fought to unify the Hawaiian Islands. As the sun begins to set, our journey will continue to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, giving us a moment to remember those who honored us by giving their lives for our freedom and protection. Over the course of the day, our guide will provide us with interesting folklore and fascinating historical details of the island. At the end of the tour, guests will be returned to their hotels in Honolulu.
