Afterward, we will visit the nearby Milk Grotto, where Mary nursed her newborn son. A Franciscan chapel is built above the cave. On our way out of Bethlehem, we will stop to take in a view of the Shepherds' Fields and the small church there.
We will then depart towards the Judean Desert, stopping en route to visit the Inn of the Good Samaritan, a 19th century Ottoman Turkish building that is now a large mosaic museum. From here, we will have a breathtaking view of landscape of the desert below us. We will then proceed to Jericho, where we will visit the Zacchaeus Sycamore, an old tree that has Biblical significance.
We will then visit the Mound of Ancient Jericho, where 25 settlements have been excavated, the earliest dating as far back as 9000 BCE, offering a unique picture of the different historical and pre-historical settlements of the region. Leaving Jericho, we will return to Jerusalem, and guests will be dropped off at their hotels. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off.
