    Day 2

Arches National Park - Denver (528 miles)

In the morning, we will travel to Arches National Park. Created by the erosive force of wind and water, some of these remarkable rock formations resemble lofty spires, some windows, and some doughnuts. One looks like an elder admonishing his two associates, and one even looks likes a whale's eyes! After admiring these stunning (and sometimes amusing) formations, we will travel into Colorado and stay overnight in the capital city of Denver.

    Moab, UT

    • This 76,000+ acre park in western Utah is world-famous for its sandstone formations. The most iconic is the mighty Delicate Arch. The park also features formations like Landscape Arch, the longest natural arch in the world.
Standard Hotel: Hotel VQ at Mile High (1975 Mile High Stadium Circle, Denver, CO 80204) or Similar

Afterwards, we will leave Mount Rushmore and travel to the town of Deadwood, where we will spend the night.

    Crazy Horse Memorial

Crazy Horse Memorial is the world's largest sculpture-in-progress, and frequent drilling and mountain blasts make each visit unique. When completed, Crazy Horse Memorial will stand 563 feet tall by 641 feet long.

    Mount Rushmore National Memorial

Mt Rushmore National Memorial is one of the most iconic National Memorials in the world. Four of the nation's most cherished Presidents carved into the face of the now famous mountainside.
Standard Hotel: Franklin Hotel (709 Main Street, Deadwood, SD 57732) or Similar
    Day 4

    Yellowstone National Park (456 miles)

Today we will travel through the Bighorn Indian Reservation, the scenic area where the motion picture Dances with Wolves was filmed, and cross the Continental Divide of the Rocky Mountains on our way to Yellowstone National Park. The park is famous for its incredible geothermal features, canyons, and waterfalls, including Old Faithful Geyser and Morning Glory Pool.

    Yellowstone

Yellowstone is part of the most seismically active region of the Rocky Mountains and lies on a volcanic 'hot spot'. It is well known for its hot springs and mud pots. It contains 200-250 active geysers and some 10,000 thermal features.
    • Old Faithful is a cone geyser in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park. It is one of the park's most well-known natural features, and is famous for its predictability. It generally erupts every 91 minutes.
    • The West Thumb Geyser Basin is the largest geyser basin at Yellowstone Lake, and an impressive area of geothermal activity that contains hot springs, mud pots, and geysers-- some of which are even in the lake itself.
    • Named after the famous sketches of the waterfalls by Thomas Moran (but not actually the location where the sketched were done) this beautiful location showcases one of the most famous views in Yellowstone National Park.
    • This large complex of hot springs is impressive both for its unique beauty as well as its scale. Formed hundreds of thousands of years ago by volcanic and seismic activity, these springs are one of Yellowstone's most popular spots.
Standard Hotel: White Buffalo Inn or Similar
    Day 5

After stopping in the classic Western town of Jackson, we will travel into Utah to Salt Lake City, where we will spend the night.

    Salt Lake City, UT

    • The home of all of the governmental processes for the state of Utah, the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City. The building is done in the ornate neoclassical revival style, purposefully reminiscent of the nation capitol in DC.
