Day 1: Lima

As guests arrive at the airport in Lima, Peru, they will be met by a tour representative and transferred to the local hotel. They will then have the reminded of the day free to spend at their own leisure.

This morning's tour of Lima, with its 2000 years of history, begins at the colonial center of the city, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its historic buildings surrounding the splendid Plaza Mayor. View the impressive Palace of the Archbishop with its fine carved balcony, the opulent Government Palace, official residence of the President, and the 16th century Cathedral of Lima whose first stone was laid by Pizarro. Continue to the 17th century Monasterio de San Francisco complex with its magnificent tiles, ornate carved ceilings, exceptional paintings and world-renowned library. Day 3: Lima - Cusco (582 km)

Today, we will depart Lima by flying to Cusco in the Peruvian Andes. This city was once the capital of the Inca Empire. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in this historic city. In the afternoon, depart for a tour of Cuzco. View the impressive Colonial Cathedral, which contains over 400 paintings from the Cusquena School in addition to colonial art. Continue on to visit the Koricancha, the Temple of the Sun, once the most important religious site of the Incas, whose walls and floors were allegedly once covered by sheets of solid gold.

Day 4: Machu Picchu (149 km)

Early in the morning, we will transfer to the Sacred Valley's Ollanta Station to board a train that travels through the misty peaks to the astonishing ancient citadel of Machu Picchu, designated by UNESCO as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. We will spend the afternoon exploring this unforgettable location, seeing the Temple of the Sun, the House of the Priest, the Sacred Plaza, and the intricately carved sundial. In the evening, we will return to the Sacred Valley in the early evening and transfer to your hotel in Cuzco for overnight

    An Intihuatana is a astronomical ritual stone located in South America, strongly associated with the Inca calendar. The one at Machu Picchu is the most famous example, with one of its corners chipped off.

Day 5: Cusco

We will spend our day today discovering the imperial city of Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. In this lively city, we will see the influence of both Incan and Spanish cultures. We will take the time to explore and shop for the finest handicrafts and textiles in all of Peru. We will go on a "Behind the Scenes" tour of the city, visiting a local market to try some fresh-baked chuta bread and shop for ingredients to use in this afternoon's cooking lesson. We will stop at the Cuzco Cemetery to learn about Andean life and death and meet with a local shaman (holy man). Then, we will take a cooking lesson and get to eat our delicious creations when they are ready. In the afternoon, we will go on an optional excursion to see the highlights of Cusco, like the Colonial Cathedral, the Temple of the Sun, and the fortress of Sacsayhuaman. Tonight, we will savor the culinary delights of Andean cuisine at a local restaurant.

    Half Day Cuzco Behind the Scenes (AM)

    Begin with a "Healing Ceremony". Meet with an Andean shaman or healer and witness an offering to mother earth & the sacred mountain protectors to thank them for this trip. Continue with a visit to a local fruit and vegetable market and observe the locals shopping for their daily goods. Try the local chuta bread and enjoy this colorful market where you will experience many new things. Later, head to the local Cuzco cemetery, where you will learn about the Andean understanding of life and see how the locals decorate the graves with gifts and food for their dead. It is traditional belief that the dead eat and drink as they would during life. Conclude the tour with a cooking demonstration by a local chef showing you how to make a traditional dish from Cuzco, followed by lunch.

    Half Day Highlights of Cuzco (PM)

    Starts at the impressive Colonial Cathedral in Cuzco which contains over 400 paintings from the CusqueNa School in addition to an impressive collection of colonial art, including Marcos Zapata's depiction of The Last Supper displaying Cuy, or Guinea Pig, as the main course. Continue on to visit the Temple of the Sun, whose walls and floors were allegedly once covered by sheets of solid gold. From here you will travel to Sacsayhuaman. This impressive fortress, which consists of individual stones weighing well over 100 tons, took over seven decades to complete and is a prime example of Incan military architecture. Conclude the day at the Kenko amphitheater, a mysterious limestone formation decorated by intricately carved depictions of mythical entities. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to visit a local shop featuring alpaca clothing and accessories, and a local jewelry shop, featuring gold and silver necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and rings.

Day 6: Cusco - Raqchi - Puno (12811 km)

Depart Cuzco early in the morning on a long drive today. Enjoy spectacular scenery as you drive through the Andes mountain range and the Andean plains to Puno on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca. In this area, South American camelids (llamas and alpacas) graze on the immense plateaus and plains. En route visit the 15th century Temple of Wiracocha, with its elaborate stonework, the largest Inca temple ever discovered. Today, Raqchi remains home to many farmers, ranchers and artisans. Then, you arrive at pristine Lake Titicaca sitting majestically at 12,500 feet above sea level, backed by the snowcapped peaks of Bolivia's Cordillera Real range. This is the highest navigable lake in the world and South America's largest fresh water lake. A box lunch will be provided en route before arriving in Puno for overnight

    The Temple of Wiracocha is the most famous construction of the archaeological site of Raqchi in Cusco. Its name is related to the god Huiracocha, creator of the world according to many ancient cultures of the coast and mountains of Peru. It is a temple over 14 meters high, the tallest Inca structure discovered to date.

Day 7: Excursion to Uros Islands on Lake Titicaca (12942 km)

This morning, an excursion by boat transports you from Puno to the fascinating Uros Floating Islands where the indigenous people of the area, the Uros, live on islands that dot the lake. The Uros live very much the same as their ancestors did and still follow the ancient customs and traditions. These islands are completely man-made structures, using the totora reeds from the lake to build the islands and houses. Return to Puno for the remainder of the day at leisure. Or, take the optional tour to the Sillustani Tombs, the pre-Incan burial ground on the shores of Lake Umayo. The tombs here are built above the ground in tower-like structures called chullpas, vestiges of the Colla people before they were conquered by the Incas in the 15th century.     Afternoon drive to the pre-Incan burial ground of Sillustani. Upon arrival, a walking tour to the "Chullpas" of Sillustani on Lake Umayo, where the ancient Aymaras buried their high priests, in cylinder-shaped tombs. Please note that the archaeological site is located approximately a half-mile, 15 minute walk uphill from where you exit the bus.

  • Reservation Changes:
    Changes to an existing reservation, whatever the cause, will incur $50 per person plus any additional supplier fees. This includes name changes* and removal of any services such as optional tours and transfers. Changes or additions after departure are subject to local rates at the time of amendment and must be paid directly by the passenger to the service provider. There are no refunds for unused services.
  • Contact Information: Passengers are responsible to ensure that operator Travel has the correctly spelled name, address, phone number, email and fax data for all passengers. Names printed on the invoice must exactly match the first and last name written in their passport (middle names or initials are not needed). Operator will not be responsible for passengers who do not receive documents due to inaccurate information.
  • Passports and Visas: Passengers are responsible for ensuring that they have the proper travel documents and MUST CHECK with the respective consulate(s) or visa agency to determine whether any visas or passports are required. Passports are required to be valid for at least 6 months after the date of travel.
  • Children: All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Minimum age for children on escorted or guided tours is six. Minimum age for European River Cruises is 12. There is no minimum age on independent packages. Discounts for children sharing a room as third may apply to children under 12.
  • Travel Protection (Insurance): The cost of your trip may increase, due to personal emergencies that may affect your travel plans. Comprehensive trip insurance is therefore highly recommended by operator. Your premium is related to your trip cost, so you don't have to worry about being over-insured.   • Travelers with Disabilities: Tour participants requiring any form of assistance are required to notify operator in writing at the time of reservation, and must be accompanied by an individual responsible for providing those services. Tour managers, guides, drivers or other tour, hotel, ship personnel are not able to provide such assistance. Wheelchairs + Walkers: Due to physical constraints and space limitations, wheelchairs and walkers may not be taken aboard motor coaches and/or river cruise ships. Operator reserves the right to remove any person from a tour or cruise who has not provided the required notification, has not received written confirmation from operator, or does not comply with these regulations. All related expenses, including those to return home, will be borne by the passenger.
  • Hotel Accommodations: All rooms are standard twin-bedded (two single beds) rooms with private facilities, unless you have specifically requested and paid for an upgraded room category. Special requests such as bed types, smoking preference and connecting rooms are subject to availability. Room selection in all cases, unless otherwise reserved, is strictly at the discretion of the hotel's management on a run-of-house basis. Triple rooms consist of standard twin beds plus a sofa/folding bed or cot for third person. The number of persons accommodated does not dictate the room size. Although available at most 4 and 5 star hotels, use of air-conditioning abroad differs greatly from the United States. Many European hotels were built before central air-conditioning was introduced. Air-conditioning is often shut down at night and from the end until the start of the summer months. All hotel rates are based on operator agreements with its suppliers and are not negotiable. Hotel check-in time is generally not before 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is prior to noon. Please be sure that adequate arrangements for accommodations have been taken into consideration when a late night flight is being used. If a day room is included in the itinerary, check-out will normally be 6:00 p.m. We reserve the right to make substitutions with hotels of equal standard. There will be no refunds for any difference in the cost of those accommodations.
  • Meals: As specified in each itinerary. Meals are based on the hotel's or restaurant's buffet or set menu. In general, beverages are not included, unless specifically stated.
  • Transfers: Transfers are provided as indicated for each tour by car, minibus, or motor coach provided airfare is purchased from operator. If you purchase a land-only tour, or if you deviate from the arrival and/or departure dates as stated in the itinerary, you will automatically be billed for the transfer service, which you may advise us to cancel at any time prior to your final tour payment date. Your arrival transfer is guaranteed for up to one hour from your scheduled arrival time in order to compensate for minor delays. Operator or the transfer company will not be responsible for flight delays, for any reason, beyond one hour from your originally scheduled arrival time. In case of a delay, whether due to flight delay or time spent reporting baggage damage or loss, it will be your responsibility to make other transfer arrangements such as a taxi. Transfer costs are not refundable and any additional expenses will be your responsibility.
  • Sightseeing: Will be operated by motor-vehicle, its size dictated by the number of participants. All tours have been designed to accommodate individuals as well as groups. The number of participants may vary during the tour, as operator accommodates travelers arriving on different airlines and on different days of the week. Times listed in itineraries are approximate and meant only as guidelines. It is your responsibility to arrive on time for all scheduled flights, cruises, and package components. Arriving late may be considered a "no-show", in which case you will not be eligible for refund for the unused service(s). We cannot guarantee the number of passengers who will be on any given tour. You may find that you are traveling with a sizeable group or only with your own companions. Services, however, will remain constant no matter the number of tour participants. On dates including, but not limited to religious holidays and national celebrations, some monuments and sites may be closed. On these occasions, touring itineraries may be amended to reflect these closures. Occasionally, during holidays and certain periods, due to unforeseen circumstances there may be last-minute changes, sometimes after arrival, in the sequence of the tour and/or hotels. Therefore, we reserve the right to adjust the sequence and/or substitute any hotels with others of similar category. In such cases there will be no cost adjustment.
  • Rail: Rail tickets are valid for the dates and times specified and once issued are non-refundable. The possibility of date and/or time changes once issued is strictly subject to availability and may by accompanied by rate increases.

Some optional tours require a minimum number of participants and may not be operated; in such cases, the tour company will attempt to notify you locally, and you will receive a full refund upon your return home. Optional tours may be conducted in more than one language.
  • Non-Operation of Escorted Tour: Escorted tour packages are based upon a minimum number of participants. Cancellation of any tour for lack of participation will be advised at least 30 days prior to the tour's departure, and all money will be refunded. Operator will not be held responsible for any costs relating to the issuance and/or cancellation of airline tickets or visa fees. Voluntary cancellations due to political instability, acts of terrorism, government intervention or US State Department warning will be subject to the above fees, provided the program is deemed (by operator) able to continue. Should operator elect to cancel a departure for any of these reasons, every effort will be made to obtain refunds from suppliers, however no guarantees can be provided on their behalf.
  • Group Harmony: To ensure the desired group synergy, operator reserves the right to accept, reject or expel any individual who is deemed disruptive or incompatible with the interests of the group. All expenses to do so will be borne by the passenger.
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE: All customer service issues must be submitted in writing and received no later than 30 days following your return. Claims for refund of undelivered services must be accompanied by payment receipt(s) and local documentation. There will be no refunds for unused package tour services or features, including missed transfers due to airline changes and/or missed flights, unused meals, missed sightseeing tours, unused entrance fees, and accommodations. Airline flight cancellations and delays for any reason are not the responsibility of operator. Submit your claim directly to the airline. Operator does not guarantee airline response. Eligible airline tickets may only be refunded once the original paper coupons are returned to operator via a trackable overnight package; e-tickets do not need to be returned. Lost paper tickets have no refund value. Processing of claims will take up to eight weeks from the date operator receives relevant documents. These terms may not be changed by anyone other than an authorized representative of operator and must be documented in writing. Operator is not obliged to guarantee promises (written or verbal) made by local hotel staff, tour guides, or any other persons not under direct employ of operator.
  • RESPONSIBILITY: Operator and its representatives abroad act only as independent contractors acting on behalf of neither the customer nor the suppliers and principals. All exchange orders, coupons, and tickets, whether paper or electronic, are issued subject to the terms and conditions under which such means of transportation, accommodations, and other services are offered or provided. The issuance and acceptance of such documents shall be deemed to be consent to the further conditions. Operator does not own nor operate the hotels, motor coaches, airlines, cruise lines, or any other service providers which compose their tours, and will not be held responsible for changes and/or cancellations for any reason by airlines, hotels or cruise ships.
  • The Travel Agent and/or Tour Operator, shall not be in any way liable for injury, damage, loss, accident, delay, or irregularity in any vehicle, or through the act of default of any company, or person engaged in conveying passengers, or of any hotel proprietor, personnel, servant or any other person otherwise in connection therewith. Operator shall not be held responsible for potential risks and hazards associated with travel to destinations included in this brochure, where injury, delay, or unanticipated events may occur. Operator shall not assume responsibility for standards of quality, hygiene, political stability, cuisine, sanitation facilities, diseases or viruses contracted while traveling for any cause, cleanliness, telecommunications facilities, methods of conducting business, emergency medical evacuation, treatment, or medical services found in these destinations. Travel to these areas may entail risks including but not limited to the hazards of traveling in politically unstable areas, civil disturbances, war, and arbitrary changes mandated by government authorities or private concerns. It is the responsibility of the passenger(s) to check with the U.S. State Department, Consular Information, click here for any current advisories and updates to the destinations on their itinerary. Operator shall be held harmless from any and all liability in connection with the foregoing. Operator cannot accept responsibility for loss or expense due to delay or changes in transportation schedule or other causes. Operator shall not be held responsible for potential loss of services due to inclement weather conditions.
  • Any and all disputes and matters whatsoever arising under, in connection with or incident to these Terms and Conditions, to the brochure, to the website, or any other information relating in any way to the trip, or to the trip itself, shall be litigated before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, or as to those lawsuits to which the Federal Courts of the United States lack subject matter jurisdiction, before a court located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. to the exclusion of the courts of any other county, state or country. Any suit to recover on any such claim is waived unless filed within 180 days after the date of departure, and unless served on operator within 120 days after filing.

Thank you for your question. Customers will be met by a tour representative at the airport on the first day and transferred to the local hotel. They will then have the reminded of the day free to spend at their own leisure.
