DAY1 Los Angeles - Las Vegas - Richfield (552 miles)

Bathed in the early morning sunshine, today we will leave the hubbub of the city to begin our exciting ten day trip. As we roll northward through the forests of San Bernardino and the immense Mojave Desert, we will enjoy the unusual scene of stunted, austere Joshua trees dotting a barren landscape that stretches to the horizon. After stopping for lunch at approximately 3:00 pm in Las Vegas, we will travel into Arizona, passing through the magnificent Virgin River Canyon. We will continue to the Virgin River Oasis, and then enter Utah, stopping for the night in the town of Richfield.

To book your pre-tour hotel, please click Howard Johnson Fullerton, Holiday In La Mirada or Lincoln Plaza Hotel . The complimentary airport transfer: 8:30am-10:30pm (for domestic flight) or 8:30am-9:30pm (for international flight) with the hotel booking.

Standard Hotel: Appletree Inn (145 S Main St, Richfield, UT 84701) or similar

DAY2 Arches National Park - Denver (547 miles)

In the morning, we will travel to Arches National Park, arriving at the famous 73,000 acre park which is home to more than two thousand natural sandstone arches of different shapes and sizes. Created by the erosive force of wind and water, some of these remarkable rock formations resemble lofty spires, some windows, and some doughnuts. One looks like an elder admonishing his two associates, and one even looks likes a whale's eyes! After admiring these stunning (and sometimes amusing) formations, we will travel into Colorado and stay overnight in the capital city of Denver.
Standard Hotel: Hotel VQ at Mile High (1975 Mile High Stadium Circle, Denver, CO 80204) or Similar

DAY3 Cheyenne - Crazy Horse - Mt. Rushmore - Gillette (506 miles)

Head north on I-25 this morning, paralleling the great backbone of North America, the Rockies. Pass by City of Cheyenne, state capital of Wyoming, which is the host of nation’s largest Rodeo events every year. Afterwards, travel to Crazy Horse Indian Memorial to take a look at the world’s largest mountain carving! Visit the most famous icon of America, Mt. Rushmore National Memorial. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, look down from their stony height and remind everyone even impossible is possible! In the afternoon, continue the tour to the most famous wild animal base in the Midwest, Bear Country. Stay overnight at Gillette.

Standard Hotel: Days Inn, Gillette or Similar

DAY4 Yellowstone National Park (354 miles)

Today we will travel through the Bighorn Indian Reservation, the scenic area where the motion picture Dances with Wolves was filmed, and cross the Continental Divide of the Rocky Mountains on our way to Yellowstone National Park. This ancient volcanic region is the world's first national park as well as the largest animal preservation site in the United States. Here we see trout straining upstream in clear rivulets, lush prairies grazed by bison and deer, as well as black bears, grizzly bears, moose, elk, and a variety of rare waterfowl. The park is also famous for its incredible geothermal features, canyons, and waterfalls, including Old Faithful Geyser, which shoots boiling water as high as 185 feet in the air at an hourly interval and Morning Glory Pool.
Standard Hotel: Yellowstone Park Inn or Similar

DAY5 Yellowstone National Park - Grand Teton - Jackson Hole (354 miles)

After breakfast, we will continue to explore the geysers, hot springs, canyons, and waterfalls in Yellowstone National Park. Then, we will leave Yellowstone and drive along the Snake River to Grand Teton National Park to admire this spectacular snow-topped mountain range and then continue on our way through Wyoming. After stopping in the classic Western town of Jackson, we will travel into Utah to Salt Lake City, where we will spend the night.
Standard Hotel: Ramada Limited (2455 S State St, Salt Lake City, UT 84115) or Similar

DAY6 Salt Lake City - Bingham Copper Mine - Las Vegas

This morning, we will explore Salt Lake City, which stands like an island of modernity and industrialized society in the middle of an arid desert on the edge of the Great Salt Lake. After visiting the Utah State Capitol and the Salt Lake Temple, the largest church ever built by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we will view the expanse of the Great Salt Lake,** the largest salt water lake in the western hemisphere, which some call “America’s Dead Sea.” We will depart Salt Lake City (and travel to see the Bingham Canyon Copper Mine,** the deepest open-pit mine in the world, in excavation since 1906). From there we will travel into Nevada on our way to Las Vegas, America’s entertainment capital. Later, join us on a night tour* where we will explore the city’s thriving night life and watch a thrilling Las Vegas show.*

DAY7 Las Vegas - Factory Outlet Center - Los Angeles (265 miles)

In the morning, we will depart Las Vegas, heading back across the desert to Los Angeles. After a brief stop at Barstow Outlet mall at 1:00 PM, where we will enjoy great discounts on popular brand labels, we will continue on our way, arriving in Los Angeles at 6:00PM.
Standard Hotel: Howard Johnson / Holiday Inn, La Mirada / Ramada Inn, Commerce or similar

DAY8 Los Angeles - Solvang - Hearst Castle (448 miles)

After departing Los Angeles at dawn, we will drive along the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway, stopping in the Santa Ynez Valley’s quaint Danish Village of Solvang around 11:30am. The antiquated windmills and Northern European-style architecture which punctuate this charming village's skyline are surrounded by brilliant sunshine, boundless open country, and rolling hills which inspired the original Danish immigrants to call it "Solvang" or "Sunny Field.” While you’re here, make sure to nibble a piece of world-famous Danish pastry! Around 1:00 p.m., we will travel to the ornate Hearst Castle* in San Simeon, arriving by 3:00pm. Built by the famous newspaper tycoon, William Randolph Hearst, the million-dollar home boasts 165 rooms filled with priceless antiques and works of art, as well as an ornate gilt-bordered swimming pool. We will have two hours to explore the castle and grounds before we depart to eat dinner and travel to our hotel.
Standard Hotel: Crowne Plaza Union City or Similar

DAY9 San Francisco - Stanford University

After eating breakfast in San Francisco’s Chinatown, we’ll explore San Francisco, the beautiful City by the Bay! Our tour will visit the stately Palace of Fine Arts; the Golden Gate Bridge; Lombard Street, the world’s most crooked street; and Fishermen’s Wharf, the bustling tourist area still home to many commercial fisheries. Then join us on a Bay Cruise,* where we will experience a view of the East Bay, the beautiful city skyline, the stately Golden Gate and Bay Bridges, and the harbor islands, including Alcatraz Island, Angel Island, and Treasure Island. Around 3:00pm, passengers may choose to explore the city at their leisure or take an Extensive City Tour,* visiting sights such as St. Mary’s Cathedral; Alamo Square; Twin Peaks; the Civic Center; and the Castro District (otherwise known as the gay capital of the world). At approximately 5:15pm, we will travel outside the city to Stanford University, one of the world's leading research and teaching institutions and home to a rich collection of historical and contemporary buildings. Just before 7:00pm, we will return to the city for dinner and return to our hotel.
Standard Hotel: Crowne Plaza Union City or Similar

DAY10 Yosemite National Park - Los Angeles (544 miles)

This morning, we will depart San Francisco for Yosemite National Park, gem of California’s National Park system and UNESCO World Heritage site, where we should arrive by 9:00 a.m. Located near the geographical center of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Yosemite is comprised of granite rocks, mighty waterfalls and placid valleys, giving it an aspect of a "land of the gods." With its notable cliffs and unique carved rock formations, there is little doubt that water - in both its liquid and solid form as glacial ice - was the chief architect of Yosemite's landscapes. We will have close to two hours to experience this natural wonder up close, with stops for photo opportunities and exploration at such viewpoints as the El Capitan and Bridal Veil Falls, the mighty Yosemite Falls, and the Tunnel View. We leave the park before lunchtime to make our final drive back to Los Angeles, where we should arrive at approximately 6:40 p.m. Please arrange your return flight departing from Los Angeles after 9:30pm (for domestic flight) or 10:30pm (for international flight).
