My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time. Our tour guide was wonderful, we got a lot done and I would definitely recommend such a trip if you dislike driving long distances and can't afford Amtrak.
The bus was more comfortable than being on a flight and any complaints I might have about the trip have nothing to do with the tour company itself.
This was my second tour with the tour company, all I can say is they are all well organised, on time, and helpful with your needs and desire. Our guide on my second trip ANTHONY!!!!!!!!!!!! was great and the driver Fidel was amazing person. Thank you!.
Tour was good.
Itinerary of Tour was
Day 1 - 1) Six Flags 2) Lake George Paddle wheel boat
Day 2- 1) Ausable Chasm walk + rafting 2) Whiteface Mountain 3) High Falls George.
Lake Placid can be seen as top view from Whiteface Mountain and not separate item as shown in itinerary. Basically it is impossible to cover Lake Placid on second day with time constraint.
Negative part of tour was hotel for night stay was at Albany which is south of Lake George, so the next day we wasted 2 hours in travel.
Overall, it was good as expected; Dinner buffet was worse. The hotel was better. Our tour guide Trista was wonderful and efficient.
I opted out from Six Flags. For the folks do not want Six Flags, Lake George trolley runs between Lake George and Glenns Falls during Summer and Fall. There is a trolley stop in front of Six Flags. If you are waiting over four hours outside of Six Flags, you could visit Lake George or other places using trolleys. Google Lake George trolley for more information.
I took this tour on August 29th and 30th 2015.
Tour Guide was Suki. She was really nice and helpful thoughout the tour.
Itinerary is planned very well. Places are beautiful. Guide will take care about stops for using restrooms, lunch, dinner etc. Suki gave us all details in advance. Places visited in this tour were incredible! Must Visit!!
Transportation was comfortable.
Accommodation was average but clean and adequate.
Suggestion:- Tour can be started bit early as we got only 4 hours at Great Escape. Almost 45 minutes are wasted in lunch itself. Place is huge so it takes some time to figure out which rides to visit and actually locate them. Tour company should figure out a way where people can enjoy more at Six Flags (Great Escape).
Overall it was a good trip. Six Flags Great Escape is waste of time, not worth the money. Instead since this is primarily a Lake George tour, I feel that we should have spent more time there. I loved Whiteface Mountain. The experience in the gondola ride, the breathtaking view was magnificent. Suki is excellent ...
If you love nature this tour is for you. The Lake George sunset cruise and Ausable Chasm are spectacular. I did river rafting for the first time in my life, so naturally was very excited. I didn't like the room we got for night stay, it was kind of cheap. This tour involves quite a bit of walking, so wear comfortable shoes. We skipped the Great Escape adventure park on the first day of the tour, as it was kind of expensive. We walked to Walmart which was about a mile from there and spent time there. From there we went to Lake George for the cruise. Lake George is really serene and picturesque. The next day was full of adventure at Ausable Chasm and the cable car tour of Whiteface Mountain. After this the High Falls Gorge was kind of a letdown, but it was still a nice place on its own. Overall a very good weekend spent.
Review for Lake George/ Lake Placid 2-day tour.
This was an excellent tour with scenic beauty. The Scenic beauty at cable cars from Whiteface Mountain was wonderful. The Lake George cruise was very nice. Ausable Chasm and High Falls George is a must see. However due to rain we missed River Rafting.
Special thanks to Suki and bus Driver Jeff.
Suki was very enthusiastic, and planned the trip very nicely. Very helpful and managed everything very well. Special thanks to her for arranging a shuttle from Jersey City to East Brunswick drop off.
Driver Jeff was always smiling and in spite of heavy rains and fog, his driving was very safe and on time.
Overall wonderful experience.
Six flags could have been avoided or those who do not want Six Flags could be dropped off at Lake George. The 5 hours time was boring and there was nothing to do.
One more observation- although many travelers have given suggestions to avoid unwanted places and concentrate only on the main venues by giving more time and also lunch/ dinner stops at places where there are options other than Chinese food, TakeTours has not implemented the suggestions.
Dev - June 27th to June 28th, 2015
Trip was very good and quite enjoyable. We had 27 people in the group, and everybody had positive feedback about this trip. We would recommend you to cover first Lake George, then Six Flags. None of us went inside Six Flags, it was very boring to wait outside for four hours. We requested the tour guide to drop us first at Lake George, we also called your customer service but they also didn't help.
My 10-year-old son and I just came back from the trip. The tour requires bit of walking, so it is unsuitable for those who are too weak. The travel can be bit long. For example, our return trip started at Whiteface Mountain around 2:50pm, and ended in Chinatown around 8:50pm. There is only one stop on the way, partly because two passengers caused a delay in the mountain area.
Overall, this is a great trip. We reached Six Flags at Queensbury around 12:30pm and left around 5pm. It is dull and expensive. I have visited San Francisco about six years ago. That one was wonderful, featuring many great shows and animals, along with rides. This one is rather simple and old. The small bumper car track even broke down, which wasted us more than half an hour. The food was bad and ridiculously costly. One slice of small pizza cost $10, the most expensive one I can remember. How could they do that? Well, they only allowed water into the park. One smiling lady checked all parts of my backpack, including the tiny one for cell phone. Security is not their concern, but profit is on their mind. My son could not ride many rides, because he is about 54 inches. Those under could ride, and even adults could ride, accompanied by small kids. I have to say that for locals in the very rural area, this place is like a Magic Kingdom. The staff had attitude, as if they are in a royal court. One small boy cried on his father's shoulder with his head down, refusing to go.
Lake George is good, but below my expectation, and does not live up to the reputation as the "Queen of American Lakes". The cruise on Minnehaha Lake is good. Two things are memorable. Many colorful parasails dotted the sky. Passing a small islet with a swimming pool, we saw several men and women there. They lined up, waving to us.
It took a couple of hours before we reached the hotel, America's Best Value Inn in Plattsburg. The area we passed was rustic, and we could not see any human traces for miles. I actually missed the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple, from which I had tried to escape. The hotel room is spacious, and has a coffee maker, a blow-dryer, a microwave, and a refrigerator. The first two did not work. Beds are good, but I wish I could get some coffee to start my day. Our tour needed to pay $5 for breakfast. By the way, we ate the dinner in Hong Kong Jade, which offered us a special deal: $15 for adults and $8 for children, including drinks, tax, and tips. This is an all- you-can eat buffet, and fits hungry and tired tourists. They offered many choices, although their dishes are average.
On the second day, we proceeded to Ausable Chasm, which was the best part of the tour for me. The chasm is rather unique and awe-inspiring. The rafting in the chasm made it even more memorable. My shoes were wet. We then went to the nearby White Face Mountain, one of the top in the empire state. The gondola ride took about 15 minutes each way, and the line was short. We did not have to share with others. When we reached the lookout, we could see people on the top of the peak to our right as well as white boats in Lake Placid to the left. Before our return, we stopped at High Falls Gorge. It was a nice walk and the view was beautiful.
I strongly recommend this tour, which will end at the end of August.
This is our fourth TakeTours trip and like all other ones, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Six Flags as a stop was abandoned, as not even 5 of the 50 onboard wanted to go there. Makes sense if that is cancelled and a new attraction is added for the first day. On second day - the trip to the Olympic center was dropped. Could have been achieved with a better time coordination. However, overall was an okay trip. TakeTours should consider having Jersey City - White Castle as a stop. Though the bus stopped in Jersey City on its onward journey, it was dispensed off in the return leg. The bus provided was comfortable and had charging points. Wi-Fi was erratic but it's more than the expectation.
I enjoy the trip though kind of disappointed with the amusement park, waste of money for adults who's not interested anymore on those stuff and waste of time for those who waited right outside the park. The most hours spent was for amusement park that should have been in Lake George since this is the high light of the tour ( reason why we take the tour). Over all it was fun because of my company and new found friends in the tour. I commend Karen (5717) for her patience in dealing with us and for those who needed special attention and service.
This was one of the best trips I have been so far. I was accompanied by my Significant other during this trip. We enjoyed the amusement park ride, the gandola trip, river rafting, walking through the Ausable chasm, taking the cruise. It was very well organized. The hotel accommodation was very well arranged. This was my second trip with take tours and I was very satisfied with their service, I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a weekend get-away.
We took this trip for 1st and 2nd of September 2012. It was very very good. A special mention for the driver of the bus for his excellent driving skills. The guides did a good job as well. This is my 3rd trip with these people and this trip was good as usual, especially the accomodation. But a couple of suggestions. Since we were not interested to go to the Great Escape theme park, we were forced to spend time for close to 5 hours doing nothing on the 1st day. Secondly, they continue to stop only at Chinese Restaurants for lunch/dinner which every one did not like. So those are my only 2 complaints, else it was very good and I will certaintly recommend this tour and many other tours of this company.
I found this trip amazing and exciting, but the only drawback to it was the hotel where we stayed. I am not sure if it was because of a long weekend, but the hotel booked by travel co. was below par. Rooms had a lot of issues and I was unhappy for that. But if I ignore that, then the trip was completely fun-filled.
The trip was a fun filled experience there were something for everyone. I love the views so much that I had to take a moment to take it all in. Our tour guides were helpful and friendly and made our time together pleasantly nice.
This tour was awesome. I cannot believe, I saw so many attractions in just 2 days. It was well planned. It is not as popular as Niagara, but it was very much enjoyable and would recommend it to friends and family.
The tour was really a nice experience. The only suggestion that I would make is, if possible, increasing the site seeing time by cutting one or two attraction in the tour schedule. Example, only four people went to Great Escape, the rest not interested so we went to Lake George Lake directly after dropping the four people in Great Escape.
I am a person who likes to see nature. I think this is a good deal... but only issue is they try to cover many places on the second day you want be getting breakfast from the hotel. So it's good to take food with you. Ausable chasm is a good place to visit during the summer because you get to do rafting. Plus lake george is also a nice trip.
This tour was one of the best tours of my life. I recommend the nature lover to go and visit this area. It was a lot of fun. Especially the White-face mountain. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. And I also enjoyed the rafting in the Ausable chasm. I went there with my wife. She is a nature lover. And we enjoyed it very much.
I was a bit skeptical in the beginning, but I must say the trip was very much worth the price. I would encourage other people to do this tour.... the tour guide Elana was great, her English was not the best, however I must admit she did her best when asked a question...thumbs up to her. I would do another tour them.
I had the time of my life and I am telling everyone I meet to go I can not tell you in words how great this trip is Everyone should go and see for there selfs I went by myself and the tour guy and the driver were very kind and made sure everyone were safe at all time which makes this trip top 10 in my book
I am a nature lover, so when I saw this package I couldn't wait to go. This was my third trip with LL tours and definitely not my last. I went with my mom and dad. My parents loved the water rafting and hiking, which were things I thought they would never do. I guess the fact that we were in a large group motivated them. The views from whiteface mountain were breath taking. The photos we took are so beautiful they look like postcards. The first day we didnt enjoy as much because my parents dont like rides and there were 4 hours that we were walking around in the parking lot while the rest of the group were in the amusement park. I would suggest to leave the group not going to the amusement park by Lake George next time or maybe that group could take the trolley there and meet everyone later. My mom fell in love with the houses by Lake George. Now I may have to look into buying one. I would recommend this trip to any nature lover. You will definitely enjoy! There was also a family with 4 children who were having the time of their life. -Jatania =)
