I was part of this tour 29th to 4th October. We really enjoyed this tour especially tour guide leyon is very cooperative and helpful also he was explained very well and speaking English very well. This tour is excellent and covered many places in short time.
We had an amazing tour around the east coast with the help of our wonderful guide, Mr. Kawa Chan. Every attraction place we visited Kawa explained all the background histories which made sightseeing even more interesting and exciting. He also gave us a small present at the Niagara Falls! This will truly be an unforgettable experience for me and my family. I would love to try different trip packages next time and have Kawa as our tour guide again!
This tour is excellent for covering many places in shortest possible time. Our tour guide Yoyo Lin maintained good discipline on time schedule and nice balance in providing commentary in Chinese and English. Overall, well conducted tour and informed guide.
Bearing in mind what we paid for the tour (less than $400 each) we really couldn't have asked for more:
1. The guide, Richard, was great, just as the driver.
2. The bus was comfortable (with AC, WI-fi, and USB to charge cell phones and tablets)
3. The accommodation was very basic (accordingly to the package price).
What you have to know in order to not be disappointed:
1. The tour is organized by a Chinese tour operator, so you will be integrated into a Chinese tourist group. The tour guide will explain everything in English and Chinese.
2. In order to cover so many tourist points, you will have to get up really early and sometimes arrive the hotel a bit late.
3. The restaurants where you will stop will mostly be Chinese.
If you are ok with this, which we were, it will be great!
We really enjoyed the tour.tour guide Mani Xu is really great. He is professional, enthusiastic, and very informative. He explained things very well and he spoke good english as well. Our family enjoyed the tour and would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a trip that covers lot of places in 4-5 days. I wish we had more time to spend at corring glass museum and wax museum at NY.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us! We are happy to hear that you enjoy your tour and your feedback is really helpful. Thanks, Sravanthi!
I really enjoy this tour. And, my parents feel this tour also fantastic. They really enjoy this tour, and we have a pretty good look for the east coast. The most important thing is that we got a fantastic tour guy. He gave us a very good explanation for all the views. Also, his name is Mani. I think you need to talk to the tour operator company and tell them that he is a good tour guy in that company. We enjoy this tour very much.
Again, I will recommend this tour. It has a very good arrangement for the customers. And, it has the best service during the tour time. The best thing is that our tour guy is the best tour guy I have seen. He introduced the whole information and told us a lot of history during this tour. I learned about a lot of things here. I am very happy about that. I think you should tell to the tour operator company that they have this kind of fantastic tour guy.
Hi Yue, we are happy to hear that your parents have a great experience and enjoyed this tour! Thank you so much for letting us know and also thanks for sharing the review.
It was a nice experience. Our tour guide Ruth Guan has done an excellent job. She has explained each and everything splendidly. The only thing that could be little better is the bus we used for traveling.
Thanks for the comment and helpful feedback, Sagar! It's really nice to hear that you enjoyed the tour.
I have just completed the 7 days east coast tour yesterday.
It was wonderful experience. Specially our tour guide Ruth Guan was very helpful and caring. Only thing the bus could be more luxurious as we had to travel a lot in the bus.
Thanks for the comment and helpful feedback, Sagar! It's really nice to hear that you enjoyed the tour.
The tour was awesome. This is my first time take this east coast tour and I would recommend for my friends. Our tour guide June Li is very kind and willing to help us even my niece was sick. He spoke very fluent chinese and his english was good too. Just regret our tour didn't have a chance to go inside the US Capitol and White House. So, next time I'll visit the west coast and for sure I'll book this tour again.
Thanks for your feedback, Ryan. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your vacation and thank you so much for the recommendation.
Even though this tour has a very bad review in general. We really enjoyed the tour. We had two tour guides Mani XU and Edison sun. Even Though they do not speak much English, their explanations were clear enough to understand. It is really value for the price. There is any other way you can cover that much of area in the US for this price. So I really recommend this tour.
It was a memorable tour. I enjoyed seeing and knowing things. I would like to recommend this tour for who wants to go. Our tour guide Cecilia, was very fluent in English & Chinese languages. Overall very happy with the tour service. This was the first time we chose to join a tour.. Thanks a lot to our tour guide. I will definitely use them again for my future guests.
It was a good tour experience. Most tourists were from China, but all commentary and tour information was shared in English too. Overall experience was excellent, but at some place like museums, time is not adequate to see in detail. Schedule is hectic but if you want to cover all places, then it's required.
I have used and still using bus to go from California to Arizona and back for years. My sister and brother-in-law came from Bangalore so I thought of sending them to an East Coast tour. We did that and I will never regret that. If you look beyond language and the food you will be very happy you took this tour. My sister just ate some fruits and bread etc... But had great meal at Punjabi Restaurant in Niagara Falls, they were very happy to find that Indian restaurant. We could not have achieved that many places in 6 nights and 7 days time. They did all they promised on the website. I will definitely use them again for my future guests.
I have completed the East Coast 7 days East Coast Tour. Overall I found the tour good value for my money, and a good way to see the major tourist attractions on the East of USA. I found the guide Ruth helpful. Before booking, be aware that this is definitely a tour oriented towards the Chinese.
My family and I joined this tour, it's been a very nice experience. At the beginning we didn't know how this tour works because this was the first time we choose to join a tour, but after we got picked up, the tour was very inpatient to explain to us. We had a very nice tour guide, Coco Lee. The tour was fun. Definitely will recommend for more friends to come.
The tour was awesome. Thanks a lot to our tour guide, Vicky Meny. The itinerary needs a little bit of change. The number of water cruises should be reduced and some time should be given to the passengers to enjoy the places by themselves. Overall this tour is recommended for smooth traveling and touching every known destinations in the East Coast. My family came from India and they enjoyed it a lot. Thank you.
I am just returning from the East Coast 7 days East Coast Tour. My two boys and I had a great time. It was well organized and my tour guide, Tana, was very prompt and knowledgeable. At first I was a bit worried because I was the only African American on the tour but it turned out to be great. I made friends with people from different parts of the world that were on the tour.
I agree that the tour guide should speak more English. However, I understand because most guests are from China. Overall very happy with the tour service! They are very professional and organized. The hotels were nice but again agree that the hotels are far from metro area. I would recommend the tour company for future references.
Although the tour is mostly composed of Chinese tourists, we didn't find hard time understanding because our tour guide, Allen Pan speaks English fluently. He is kind and informative. So we learned a lot of history and insights from the tour.
We have seen a lot of places, very little time to spent at the sights, but you pretty much expect that with the schedule. Hotels were outside of the city, but it really didn't matter, since we got to our room pretty late - just took a shower and fell into our beds. The tour guides were helpful and helped with everything they could (Lydia and another girl, I forget her name). Smiles and friendly behavior were on daily schedule. If you asked me, I would recommend this tour.
It was a great tour experience. Most tourists were from China, but all commentary and tour information were shared in English. Overall experience was excellent, and I would strongly recommend to join this tour.
Definitely a tour oriented towards the Chinese. We were the only US Americans on our bus (there were also two other families from South America). But I saw that as a bonus - thought it was nice for my kids to get a taste of Chinese culture - and so did they. My wife, who is from Mexico, did initially experience a bit of culture shock at first. A college age girl friended her and joked with us saying, "Welcome to China".
Our tour guide, Tony, was great and offered a lot of good history on the tour. Nice guy and great at managing our group throughout. He's been with the company for a while.
We used our free day in New York to go to the top of the Freedom Tower in the morning and then see Central Park in the afternoon - both recommended. Got a taste of the subway in between.
Buses were mediocre - about as nice as the standard regional buses I use to commute to work (which have nice cushy seats) - seats got a little nasty by the end even though people weren't supposed to be eating on the bus (they reassign seats everyday so no one gets stuck in the back all the time - which is a nice policy).
Sites visited were amazing and for the most part we had enough time at each to explore and enjoy (be on time to the bus so you don't eat people's time at the next stop - only happened once on our tour and then everyone shaped up - ate some of our time on the Intrepid though. Also - skip snack shacks [don't skip meals - just some snacks] - they're time eaters too - take snacks with to avoid waits/lines or wait until you've seen everything you wanted at any given place - we missed out on some things at the Niagara fort since we stopped to get some ice cream at their snack shop).
One gripe would be that we paid for the upgraded hotels - while others who stayed in the exact same hotels as us on our tour did not. I checked ratings and only one of the hotels we stayed at was 4+. They were still nice hotels - high 3's in rating - but we had paid the upgrade fee for 4/5 star hotels - I'd suggest avoiding that fee - the standard hotels were nice. Would have liked that money back.
Sounds like I'm complaining some here - but truth is that it was a great, memorable trip with a good group of people - and it was nice being dropped off right at the front door everywhere and being able to nap in between while the bus driver took care of the getting us there part.
Great bargain compared to booking hotels and renting cars yourself - we saved a lot.
First of all I would like to recommend this tour who wants (mainly for short term stay in USA) to cover major attractions in the East Coast, USA. Our tour guide, Mr. Mani Xu, had all the knowledge/history about each attraction and used it to explain it at each attraction. He graduated from Buffalo University and was very fluent in English & Chinese languages. Our bus driver, Mr. Kim, was perfect in driving and we never felt any issues. Both of these guys are very professional, disciplined, and punctual. I never regret in my entire tour about this travel company. Since the of tourists were from China, they will stop at Chinese restaurants for food. So for Indian tourists (mainly vegetarians) prepare your home food in advance (Rice, pickles ,bread, snacks, etc). Me, my wife, and my parents went on this tour and really had a great time during our trip. Once again, thanks Mani Xu for making all arrangements well in advance (pick up, drop off, hotels check-in/out,attractions admission tickets and others..)
It was a memorable tour thanks to the tour guide, Sean He. He was kind, informative, and pleasant. He always referred us as "friends". He also hinted to me where the best spot on the Maid of the Mist was. He gave us estimated time of arrival every time we moved. It made the whole long boring transportation better and bearable.
The bus drivers (do not know their names) were also nice. They were always smiling even after long tiresome driving. They would gladly help load and unload the luggage.
The best part of the tour is definitely the Niagara Falls. I would highly recommend to go there. The fall itself is awesome. Also, the Native American dance show is quite interesting. However, if one wants to enjoy Niagara completely and fully, such as the night view, rather take the 2-day Niagara tour. It actually goes the same to all regions because the tour travels a long road from a region to a region so it does not give you enough for an in-depth tour. Still, you can visit important iconic attractions in each region.
Other recommended places during the tour are the Metropolitan Museum in New York City and the Atlantic City.
The inns/hotels were comfortable and clean. However, due to lowering some costs, they were an hour away from the cities and the attractions. So, the night tour is impossible nor it is easy to get food at night. (There are some delivery places. But if you want some real restaurant, you need take a cab.)
Also, the tour is targeted for Chinese population. If one expects a racially diverse tour or a tour with most tourists speaking American English, this is not your thing. However, the tour guide speaks fluent English so there won't be any trouble enjoying your tour. He explains everything in both Chinese and English.
Again many thanks to tour guide Sean He and the drivers. It was fun and memorable. I enjoyed seeing and knowing things in the East Coast. I was able to find places I would to love to return one day.
The tour guide, Joe Ma, was helpful and helped with everything he could. Smiles and friendly behavior were on daily schedule. If you ask me, I would recommend this tour. The hotels and the bus were comfortable and clean. We have thoroughly enjoyed the 7 days New East Coast Deluxe Tour with TakeTours.
Tour Guide: Evan Huang was great. He was very professional and very organized. I like the way he would give us estimates of the times to make sure people are not late, inform us of the next day's itinerary, and give comprehensive English translations even if most of the participants are Chinese-speaking. I also appreciated the fact that even though we didn't join the optional tours, he still treated us equally with the other customers.
Accommodation: it would have been better if all the hotels had free breakfast. Almost all hotels were very far from the tour sites, thus resulting in having to wake up early due to longer travel times. For New York, our hotel was at Edison, New Jersey! It was almost an hour away from Manhattan.
Transportation: bus was a bit old and the seat numbers were faded or labelled incorrectly.
Itinerary: many optional tours that were unnecessary. Some were even more expensive than the price at the site itself.
Suggestion #1: we were not given a detailed itinerary that includes hotel confirmations. and we were only informed of the contact number of the person fetching us the day before our tour starts. This is very difficult especially if we don't have time to check our emails beforehand.
Suggestion #2: we took the self-guided NYC tour. It would have been better if the city tour came before our self-guided tour so we can go to places we didn't get to go during the city tour. During the City tour, we weren't able to visit Wall St., because a film was being shot during that time.
The tour was good and they provided good service both with the tour guide and the driver. I give the applause for Sam, the tour guide. He know well what he was dealing with. He can manage the tour very well and all the timing is almost punctual. Would recommend this tour for the introductory first visit for East Coast.
Advantages: it's very economic, comfortable accommodations, explore the U.S. points. You can visit Museums and other points cheaper than normal, with tour.
Disadvantages: company should get more employees who speak very good English and have suitable accent. (it;s not for our guide, generally). First day, there is no event just night tour and waiting in offices. Second day, there is no tour because it's a self tour, especially I never advise the Atlantic City option because you have to go by yourself. Self guided New York tour could be good or shopping at Woodbury Outlets.(choose one of these). They must write this on the description CLEARLY. Lastly, the tour should stop at international food areas, not always Chinese food places. There is one more thing that no description about this- they're charging $8 tip daily per person as a rule (total 48$) It must be at the end of the tour and everybody pays how much they want.
I agree that the tour guide should speak more English. However I understand because most guests are from china. Overall very happy with the tour service! They are very professional and organized. The hotel were nice but again agree that the hotels are far from metro area. I would recommend L&L tour for future reference.
Wow..Thanks to our guide,Daniel. He made our trip pleasant. It was hectic, but if you want to cover most of the east coast in short time, this tour best choice. They say 4-5 stars hotel for 6 nights but we were asked to 3 stars hotel for 2 days. only the sixth day from niagra to boston was long (8hrs) but they make frequent stops and don't feel that. fyi,you don't have even Microwave oven in hotels. They drop us at 8pm and pickup at 6.45am mostly. all together, we enjoyed the trip. Again thanks to Daniel. Cool guy!
East coast 7 Days tours is the perfect package for visiting the east side with regards to the number of places you visit and the price. We did the West Coast Tour in 2009 and decided to do the East Coast with Take Tours as they provide excellent service. Our tour guide, Peng Peng was a lovely lady and made the tour very enjoyable. She was very clear in the explanations and spoke fluent English. Overall the tours organised by Take Tours are thumbs up!!
My parents, who are visiting me from India, and who I might categorize as not very social/comfortable in a non-Indian environment (because of a lack of exposure to it), told me they had a great time. I recommend this for those who have parents visiting, and if you want them to move around by themselves.
Positives: Very courteous staff, well-organized tour, very nice hotels.
Things one has to work around: You better be familiar with Chinese food, Day1 probably should not really feature (or should have some activity).
Overall, I'm glad I opted for this. My parents really enjoyed it. I can tell by the photos.
One thing no one tells you here is that the tour targets primarily chinese. 90% of the people on the bus were chinese, tour guides were chinese and 1st language on the tour was chinese. Our tour guide kept forgetting to translate stuff to english and when he did, it was just a part.
If you don't really mind the above, which we didn't, or very little, then the tour is just for you. We have seen lots of places, very little time to spent at the sights, but you pretty much expect that with the schedule. Hotels were outside of the city, but it really didn't matter, since we got to your room pretty late - just took the shower and fell into our beds.
Compared to other tours I have been looking at, this is (in my opinion) the best deal you can get. The tour guides were helpful and helped with everthing they could. Smiles and friendly behaviour were on daily schedule.
If you asked me, I would recomend this tour.
No one told us this tour was targeted to Chinese population. We thought the hotels were on the city or easy access to the metro system. All of them were far from the city area. They took us to chinese restaurants almost every night and there weren't many options to eat anything else but a gas station shop.
We payed for 4-5 stars hotel and they took us one day to a 3 stars hotel. We talked to our tour gide about it but he said he didn't make the hotel arrangements so there wasn't anything he could do about it.
Besides all that the hotels and the bus were comfortable and clean. No free internet on any hotel.
The tour took us to the most iconic places of the cities we visited.
Our tour guide Daniel, helped us in everyting we asked him.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the 7 days New East Coast Deluxe Tour with GotoBus. Justin, our tour guide made it more interesting. All the hotels we stayed in were very good and clean. We both would like to recommend this tour if someone has not seen the East Coast. This is a real value for the money. Again a big thanks to Justin. We would like to do the West Coast maybe within 6 to 8 months time and we will be delighted to have Justin back in our bus. All the best to you guys!
