    Passengers will be picked up in Washington, DC at 8:00am. Today we will head to Charlottesville, VA to visit Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson, President, surveyor, musician and artist.

    We will also tour the famous Michie Tavern, with the option to purchase lunch on your own.

    The highlight of our tour of the spectacular estate will be the Thomas Jefferson Visitor Center and Smith Education Center, the new gateway to Monticello, will offer visitors greatly enhanced services and amenities while engaging them in Thomas Jefferson's life, times, and lasting legacies through a new introductory film, four innovative exhibitions, and a hands-on discovery room.

    At the end of the day, we will return to the departure point for dropoff. See "Departure and Return Details" for more information.

The University of Virginia, the first public university in the United States founded by Thomas Jefferson, is located in the city. Jefferson's house in Monticello, Charlottesville attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year. For these reasons, the city becomes the epitome of American culture and history.

      The estate known as Monticello served as the primary home of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States and writer of the Declaration of Independence. In addition to being his adult home, Jefferson was buried on the estate.
