    Auckland - Ragland (88 km)

    Haere mai (welcome)! Your Stray tour kicks off in New Zealand's largest city, Auckland. From here we head south to our overnight destination - Raglan. On the way, we will visit the Bridal Veil Falls, where a short walk through beautiful native bush leads to an impressive 55m cascading waterfall. In the afternoon, you'll have the option to take a surf lesson or explore the harbour on a kayak or stand-up paddle board. After a welcome dinner in the evening, you'll have the chance to watch the surfers from the beach, enjoy a bush walk or take a sunset cruise - it's up to you!
    • Raglan, NZD

      Raglan is both a surfing mecca and a dramatically scenic area of black sand coastline. Many people believe that Manu Bay on this coast has the longest, most accessible and consistent left-hand break in the world. This lively surf town has an interesting creative culture and a wonderful choice of cafés.

    Day 2

    Raglan - Rotorua (227 km)

    Departing early, our first stop of the day is Waitomo. Take our included boat trip through Waitomo's magnificent cave network where you'll have the chance to see fossils and glow-worms up close. From here, we continue on to Matamata, where you have the option to experience the place where the real Middle Earth story began, the Hobbiton Movie Set. Explore the hills, gardens and houses that were home to Frodo and Bilbo in Peter Jackson's epic trilogies. Those not interested in Hobbiton will head straight to Rotorua where you will have the option to visit the Tamaki Maori Village or the Polynesian Spa. At the award-winning Tamaki Maori Village, you learn about Maori art, ancient rituals and traditions and experience a delicious Hangi meal and interactive cultural performance. Alternatively, a relaxing soak in one of the many geothermal pools at the Polynesian Spa is a wonderful way to finish a busy day of adventure.
    • Waitomo Caves, NZD

      Waitomo can be translated as the 'stream which flows into the hole in the ground'. This meaning is reflected through its fantastic geological history and landscape. Combine your experience with Ruakuri Cave, see glowworms up close and descend a spectacular spiral entrance. In Aranui Cave be mesmerised by ornate cave decorations also the underground Black Water Rafting.
    • Rotorua, NZD

      Located in the Bay of Plenty region, Rotorua is New Zealand's 10th largest urban city. Tourists can visit the Government Gardens and the Rotorua Museum of Art and History. Other popular activities include mountain biking, boating, and fishing.

      Lake Rotorua

      Lake Rotorua is the second largest lake in the North Island of New Zealand. The lake is shallow and prone to an unusual green discoloration. For these reasons the lake is popular for trout fishing and nature photography, but not for swimming or watersports.

      Government Gardens

      A public park located near Rotorua Lake, Government Gardens provides visitors with a wide array of activities including swimming, croquet lawns, walking paths and more. Guests also have access to the Rotorua Museum of Art and History and the Polynesia Spa.

      Polynesian Spa

      Since 1882, there has been a bath house on this site in Rotorua, NZ. Currently, the geothermal spa facility here provides a relaxing treatment that is said to especially help those with arthritis.

    Rotorua - Taupo (63 km)

    We start the day by visiting Redwood Forest for a short walk before heading to the geothermal wonderland of Wai-O-Tapu. Carrying on to Taupo, we will stop at the thundering Huka Falls , NZ's most photographed natural attraction, on the way into town. Next, we head to the town centre on the shores of Australasia's largest freshwater lake, the Great Lake Taupo. You have the rest of the afternoon free for activities. The most popular activity here is to jump out of a plane and skydive over the lake, but you can also test your bravery with a bungy jump or a se rene sailing trip on the lake.

    Taupo - Ackland (218 km)

    It's time to say goodbye to Taupo this morning as we begin our journey north back to Auckland. We'll arrive at the award-winning Hamilton Gardens. After lunch, we will have an ice cream stop in Pokeno before drive into Auckland. The first drop-off will be at Auckland Airport to drop off those people who are continuing their trip with our South Island Blue Bird tour. For those staying in Auckland, you will be dropped off in the city centre and your tour officially comes to an end. There's still time to wander around downtown, visit the waterfront, shop in some souvenir shopping and hang out in some of Auckland's lively cafes and bars.     • Accommodation: standard tour is equipped for twin share. Single Room upgrades are available with a surcharge fee. Solo travelers who book a standard Twin Room package will be allocated to share a room with a passenger of the same gender. Solo travelers must be 18+ years to be allocated a twin share room. Children aged under 18 must share a room with a legal guardian.
    • Luggage regulations: The vehicles have limited space so we limit luggage to one suitcase/or bag per person with a maximum weight of 20kgs.
    • Fitness requirement: tour is based on active outdoor adventures so a reasonable amount of fitness is required. Guests will need to be able to walk up to 2-3 hours each day. Other optional activities includes walking, cycling, water sports and wild life watching in the natural environment may apply. If you have any concerns regarding your suitability for tours, please consult with us when your booking.
    • We reserve the right to charge a fuel surcharge if the fuel fees increase. This will be at a maximum of $20 per person.

    • All purchases are subject to re-confirmation within 2-3 business days after booking. Please do not book the airline tickets until you received the confirmation.


    • Complete operator information, including local telephone numbers at your destination, is included on your e-ticket. You must print the e-tickets and take them along on your trip; they are your proof of purchase.

      Terms & Condition


    The purchase of any travel services represents your acceptance Terms & Conditions set out herein. Please ensure that you read carefully and understand these Terms & Conditions prior to booking.

    Booking changes
    A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary may be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply. Please be noted that we do not allow departure change 48 hours before departure.

    Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
    Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed and pending bookings. Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. Time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office. Notice of cancellation must be made directly to TakeTours by email or through web mail at Contact Us .

    (Notification day and departure day are not counted)

    • 31 days or more prior to departure - 35% of total purchase amount.
    • 15-30 days prior to departure - 50% of total purchase amount.
    • Within 14 days prior to departure - 100% of total purchase amount.
    • Day of departure or no show - 100% per person.
    • Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.
    • Trips require a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. We reserve the right to cancel a schedule trip to fully refund affected customers although tour companies will make every efforts to maintain the normal operation.
    • There is 6% handling fee add-on to the above penalties.

    NOTE: We cannot grant any refunds more than 30 days after completion of tour.

    Itinerary Variations
    We constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.

    Tour Cancellation:
    We reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure* of the tour, TakeTours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour.. Please note that we are not liable for any cancellation penalties incurred on any other travel arrangements including air tickets purchased separately from customers.

    We are not responsible for any other travel arrangements affected due to our cancellations.
