Itinerary

Day 1:Natal, Brazil

Meals: Meal: Excluded
Guests will be picked up from their hotels in Natal to begin this tour. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations. We will start our journey by driving down the Via Costeira, passing through the urban beach district, where we will visit the Reis Magos Fort. Continuing on our way, we will traverse the neighborhoods of Santos Reis, Rocas, and Ribeira, areas where Natal began its growth. We will continue to the city center to see the Metropolitan Cathedral. Next, we will visit an arts and crafts center where we will have enough time to browse handicrafts and purchase some interesting local items. Then we will travel to the top of Morro do Careca (the Bald Hill), where we will get to see a view that stretches from the outskirts of Natal all the way across Pirangi Beach. We will get to see the World's Largest Cashew Tree in the world and take a swim in the calm waters of the beach before guests return to their hotels to end the tour.
  • Natal, Brazil
Federative Republic of Brazil is the largest country in South America. It is the world's fifth largest country, both by geographical area and by population with over 192 million people. It is the only Portuguese-speaking country in the Americas and the largest Lusophone country.
  • Forte dos Reis Magos
This stronghold in Natal was built in 1614 to defend against the French. Shaped like a star, the fortress has 5 cannon positions, allowing it to be defended from multiple angles, depending upon where the enemy would attack.
  • Metropolitan Cathedral
The cathedral of Natal is very unique and strange, a decidedly modern church, with a very sparse interior design, and one sloping rooftop, giving it a triangular, industrial look - certainly not how you would expect a cathedral to look.
  • Morro do Careca
True to its name ("Bald Hill"), this massive sand dune on the coast of Natal is one of the icons of the city and a major attraction in the area. The views from the top are breathtaking.
  • Via Costeira
Portuguese for the "coastal way," this road cuts through the sand dunes to travel along the urban beaches of Natal, making it perfect to stroll down while visiting the beautiful shorelines of the area.
  • World's Largest Cashew Tree
The name is no exaggeration: this cashew tree, that grows outwards instead of upwards because of a genetic mutation, is officially in the Guinness Book of World Records. From above, it looks like the canopy of several trees!
