Itinerary

Day 1:Anchorage

Hotel: Standard: Lakefront Millennium Hotel or similar

Today we will arrive in Anchorage airport. We will transfer to hotel via a hotel shuttle and enjoy the evening exploring Alaska's largest city by own.

Day 2:Anchorage - Matanuska Glacier(132 km)

Meet our guide at 8:00AM for the scenic 2-hour drive through the mountains to Matanuska Glacier for an Ice Walk Adventure! On the way we will pass through downtown Anchorage and learn about the history of the city. As we depart from the city, we will pass by Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and the bedroom communities of Eagle River and Chugiak before we pass the Dena'ina village of Eklutna. Crossing the Knik River, we will then enter the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. Then we will make a stop at a grocery store in the charming town of Palmer where we can purchase food and drinks for lunch during the drive.

Upon arrival at the Matanuska Glacier, our guide will instruct us in using ice cleats for secure footing on the ice, and our Ice Walk adventure will be underway. Our guide will transfer us back to Anchorage in a private vehicle, where we will be free to choose dining and entertainment options in this vibrant city.

  • Matanuska Glacier Hiking

    Get the chance to see the vast, scenic expanses of the Alaskan wilderness by taking a stunning helicopter tour out of Anchorage and flying high above the landscape!

  • Matanuska Glacier, AK
    Matanuska Glacier is a valley glacier in the US state of Alaska. At 27 miles long by 4 miles wide, it is the largest glacier accessible by car in the United States.

Day 3:Anchorage - Fairbanks(417 km)

Today, we will explore the Turnagain Arm and points south. The Seward Highway route we will follow is also a designated National Scenic Byway, affording beautiful view of the rushing waters of the world's second largest tidal swing, as much as 30 ft from low to high tide. We can also look for dall sheep perched on the roadside cliffs, bald eagles and moose on the route, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Kenai Mountains to your south.

Then we will come to visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center that offers a sure bet of seeing some of Alaska's world-famous wild creatures, including moose, caribou, wood bison, elk, mule deer and eagles as well as bears. When the Alyeska Resort opens for the season, we will be able to ride the scenic Mt. Alyeska aerial tram. When weather permits, we can choose to experience Alaska glaciers by helicopter to land on the blue ice and snow.

Afterwards we will return to Anchorage International Airport for the one-hour flight to Fairbanks.

  • Turn-again Arm
    A waterway into the northwestern part of the Gulf of Alaska. It is one of two narrow branches at the north end of Cook Inlet, the other being Knik Arm.
  • Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center
    This refuge for orphaned and injured animals opened in 1993 and covers 170 acres of wilderness. Since 2003, the center has been reintroducing elk and wood bison to the Alaskan ecosystem.
  • Alyeska Resort
    Alyeska Resort is the largest ski area in the state, It includes the mountaintop Mt. Alyeska Roundhouse, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Departure & Return

  • Airport Pickup: After arriving at Anchorage airport, you can choose to go to the hotel as follows:
    1. Booking hotel 24-hour airport free shuttle , advance appointment required. The bus will arrive at Anchorage airpirt Arrival EXIT in about 30min.
    2. Take taxi at Arrival EXIT to Lakefront Millennium Hotel or similar at your own expenses. The exact hotel information will be confirmed before your departure.

If you would like to join the optional activities, please pay the fee in cash to the tour guide. You cannot buy / use the tickets on your own or use City Passes. The tour guide will arrange the tickets for the group.

Additional Notes

This journey requires a US visa.
Due to fire safety requirements in Alaska, extra beds cannot be added to hotel rooms. Every room is furnished with 2 beds.
The optional tour is affected by the weather factors. If the tour got cancelled, we will issue a refund.
If there is any discrepancy between the schedule and the tour guide, please refer to the guide time.
There are a few restaurants along the Arctic Circle where you can have lunch and dinner or prepare your own meals.
Aurora is a natural phenomenon and depends on solar activity. You are not guaranteed to see it.
The order of the trip will be adjusted according to your departure dates and weather conditions.
Note that plans from many cellular carriers do not work in Alaska, please make sure the number you provided can receive texts or calls after landing, otherwise an alternative communication method should be established beforehand.
