Upon arrival in Iquitos, your guide will meet you at the airport and give you a brief introduction to the city. Afterward, you’ll head to the Amazon River port, where you’ll board a boat for a journey through the rainforest to Ceiba Tops Lodge, your comfortable jungle accommodation. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning and hot water, ensuring a pleasant stay during your Amazon adventure.
In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a guided hike through the pristine rainforest surrounding Ceiba Tops, where towering trees draped in epiphytes create a magical atmosphere.
After dinner, your guide will take you back to the lakeshore for a night excursion. Here, you’ll have the chance to spot caimans lurking in the water, as well as nocturnal creatures like frogs, insects, and other wildlife hidden in the darkness.
Important Note: Since access to the rainforest is restricted after 4:00 PM, we recommend scheduling your arrival flight to Iquitos no later than 1:00 PM to ensure a smooth and timely transfer to the lodge.
For early risers, an optional pre-breakfast birdwatching activity offers the chance to observe vibrant Amazonian species at dawn. The morning continues with an exciting boat excursion where you'll try your hand at fishing for piranhas and other Amazonian fish using traditional bamboo rods - your catch might even be prepared for your dinner! During this river journey, keep your eyes peeled for the famous pink and gray river dolphins that often swim alongside the boats.
After lunch, the adventure takes you to visit a Yagua indigenous community. Your knowledgeable guide will help you understand the community's origins, spiritual beliefs, and how their culture has evolved over time. This immersive experience includes opportunities to purchase authentic handmade crafts and witness a fascinating blowgun demonstration - a traditional hunting method still practiced by Yagua elders today.
Begins with an unforgettable guided hike through the rainforest to a hidden jungle lake, home to the spectacular Victoria Regia Lily - the giant Amazonian water lily whose massive circular leaves can reach an impressive 3 meters in diameter. Marvel at nature's clever design as you learn how the leaf's spiked underside protects it from hungry fish.
As you explore the tranquil lakeshore, keep your eyes peeled for elegant Jabiru storks and other long-legged wading birds strutting gracefully across the floating lily pads. You may also spot freshwater turtles basking in the sun or witness the annual turtle hatching season if your visit coincides with this special natural event.
In the afternoon, we'll escort you back to Iquitos for your airport transfer, marking the perfect conclusion to your authentic Amazon rainforest experience.
