Day 1:Kona - Punalu'u - Hawaii Volcanoes National Park - Mauna Kea(165 miles)

Begin the day with a stop at a Kona Coffee Farm where you walk through the orchards and learn about harvesting and milling while sampling Kona-grown coffee. Continue the drive passing Kealakekua Bay and South Point (southernmost point of the US). Stop at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach to spot green sea turtles. In the afternoon, visit Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, driving Chain of Craters Road with stops at volcanic eruption sites, the park coastline, Thurston Lava Tube, Kilauea Iki Lookout, steam vents, Halema'uma'u Crater, and the crater rim trail. After a sit-down dinner at a local restaurant near the park, proceed to a secluded location near Mauna Kea for stargazing, where you observe stars, planets, galaxies, and the moon while your guide shares legends and lore.
