  The capital city of both England and the United Kingdom has been a focal point of Western civilization for centuries. This amazing city in the British Isles is famous for places like Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and Westminster Abbey.
• Big Ben
  "Big Ben" is actually the name of the bell inside the clocktower located at the northern end of Westminster Palace. The tower itself is officially known as "Elizabeth Tower." It is one of England's most recognizable landmarks.
• River Thames
  The longest river in England and second-longest in the UK, the River Thames is a staple of London. Many of the cities most famous landmarks either sit on it, such as the Tower of London, or cross over it.
• 10 Downing Street
  Also known by the Brits as "Number 10," this building is the headquarters of the executive branch of the British government and the official residence of the Prime Minister.
• Piccadilly Circus
  The Piccadilly Circus is a major intersection in the Westminster area of London. The large open area created when Regent Street meets Piccadilly Street is home to gorgeous buildings, illuminated signs, and statues. It is similar in function to Times Square.
• Buckingham Palace
  One of the most famous palaces of the British monarchy, Buckingham Palace dates back to 1705. In addition to serving as a museum and art gallery, it has been the main residence of the royal family since 1837.
• St. Paul's Cathedral
  Sitting atop the highest point in London, this cathedral is woven deeply into the national identity of England. Figures such as Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher are buried here, and Princess Diana's wedding took place here, among many other occasions.

  This cathedral city in Wiltshere, England is best known for its large, historic cathedral, which is most famous for housing the Magna Carta, a critical document in English history.
• Stonehenge
  This world-famous prehistoric monument dates to between 3000 and 2000 BC. It is a UNESCO National Historic Site and one of the most recognizable icons of Britain in the world. It is thought to have been a burial site.
• Bath, United Kingdom
  Bath is the largest city in the ceremonial county of Somerset, England, known for its Roman-built baths.
• Roman Baths
  The Roman Baths is an exceptionally well-preserved bathhouse built around a natural hotspring in antiquity. The first bathhouse there was built in about 890 BC (before Roman rule), though the current building dates to about 65 AD.

Day 4:Bath - Ludlow - Llangollen - Liverpool

• Ludlow, United Kingdom
  The medieval walled town, founded in the late 11th century after the Norman conquest of England. It has nearly 500 listed buildings,including examples of medieval and Tudor-style half-timbered buildings. The town was described by Sir John Betjeman as "probably the loveliest town in England".
• Llangollen, United Kingdom
  A small town and community in Denbighshire, north-east Wales. Above the town to the north is Castell Dinas Bran. Beyond the castle is the limestone escarpment known as the Eglwyseg Rocks. The area nearest the castle is the Panorama Walk, and a monument to poet I.D. Hooson from the village of Rhosllannerchrugog can be found there.

• Grasmere, United Kingdom
  A village and tourist destination in the centre of the English Lake District. It takes its name from the adjacent lake. Poet William Wordsworth lived in Grasmere for 14 years and called it as "the loveliest spot that man hath ever found."

  This Scottish village, right across the border from England, has grown quite a reputation for being a destination of runaway couples trying to get married. There are many lovely historical buildings in town.

• Edinburgh Castle
  This historic and famous castle sits atop the Castle Rock precipice in the city of Edinburgh. Human occupation of the area that is now the fortress dates back to the second century AD or possibly even earlier.

  Jedburgh is a town and former royal burgh in the Scottish Borders and former county town of Roxburghshire. It is 10 miles from the border with England, and is dominated by the substantial ruins of Jedburgh Abbey.

  A historic walled city in North Yorkshire, England. York Minster and a variety of cultural and sporting activities make it a popular tourist destination.
• York City Walls
  The English city of York has been defended by walls since its earliest days as a Roman settlement. Today, visitors to the city can still see the significant portions of the medieval walls that still stand.
• York Minster
  This church in York is the official cathedral of the city, and one of the largest of its kind in northern Europe. It is the seat of the Archbishop of York, the second-highest office in the Church of England.

  The Shambles is an old mediaeval street, often called Europe's best preserved. This short and narrow street has overhanging timber-framed buildings, some of which dates back as far as the fourteenth century.

• Anne Hathaway's Cottage
  The cottage was the childhood home of Shakespeare's wife, Anne Hathaway. It is not a museum and public garden. Replicas of this famous farmhouse have been built all around the world, from Texas to Australia and more.
• Shakespeare's Birthplace
  Believed to be the birthplace and childhood home of playwright William Shakespeare, this 16th-century house and museum has been called, "a Mecca for all lovers of literature." Shakespeare would have lived here from 1564 until about 1574.
