    Guests will be picked up from select downtown Salt Lake City hotels in the morning. Today, we will learn about the history of Utah's capital city from local experts, discovering many hidden gems that we would not otherwise find on our own. We will hear about over 500 points of interest. Some of the highlights include visiting This Is the Place Heritage Park; seeing a live choir recital featuring the most famous organ in the world at the Mormon Tabernacle; enjoying lunch at the Lion House; exploring the world-renowned gardens and fountains in Temple Square; touring the Utah State Capitol Building; visiting historic Fort Douglas; the Pony Express Monument; dozens of 100 year-old mansions and churches; locations from the 2002 Winter Olympics; and many more sights around the city. Afterward, guests will return to their hotels to end the tour.
    • Salt Lake City, UT

      Utah's gorgeous capital city sits amidst the mountains of the American Southwest on the shores of the breathtaking Great Salt Lake. The city is steeped in history and architecture in addition to wondrous vistas and scenery.

      Utah State Capitol

      The home of all of the governmental processes for the state of Utah, the Utah State Capitol in Salt Lake City. The building is done in the ornate neoclassical revival style, purposefully reminiscent of the nation capitol in DC.

      Lion House

      This large house in Temple Square was once the residence of Brigham Young, the mane who led the Mormons to Utah. Young needed space to house his large family because he was a polygamist with 57 children.

      Mormon Tabernacle

      Originally built in the mid-1800s to house large meetings of the Church of Latter Day Saints (the Mormons). The most notable feature of the tabernacle is the massive pipe organ, used to accompany the choir that performs there weekly.

      Opening Hours: 9:00am - 9:00pm

      Pony Express Monument

      This monument celebrates the history of the Pony Express, the country's old mail delivery system. The statue is located within This Is The Place Heritage Park, which in turn celebrates the arrival of Mormons to Utah.

      Temple Square

      Approximately ten acres in size, Temple Square is the center of religious activity for the Church of Latter Day Saints, housing the Temple and Tabernacle that are central to the religion.

      This Is The Place Heritage Park

      Brigham Young, who led the Mormons to settle in Utah, first set eyes on the Great Salt Lake from this location. In the present day, there is a large monument depicting this event. The Heritage Viallge lies around the monument.

      Fort Douglas

      This small military compound was built in 1862 to protect the mail and telegraph routes to nearby Salt Lake City. A small portion of the original facility is still used as an Army Reserves base.
