    Itinerary

    This tour will begin after guests have been picked up from the specified departure location. Today, we will follow the path of the winding Danube River through romantic scenery, charming old villages, and steep vineyards. Our first stop will be Durnstein Castle. We will take a boat ride along the river, through the heart of the Wachau Valley, until we reach the old town of Krems an der Donau. Afterwards, we will visit Melk Abbey, where we can get lunch in the winter season. Then, we will return to Vienna, where the tour will end. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations.

    • Durnstein, AUSTRIA

      This small town along the Danube River in Austria is a well0known wine growing area. The medieval castle that sits on a hill above the town is famous for being a place of imprisonment for Richard the Lionheart.

      Durnstein Castle

      The ruins of this medieval castle rest on a hill overlooking the Danube River in Lower Austria. The castle is most notable for being the prison of Richard the Lionheart, King of England, in 1192.

      This town in Lower Austria lies to the west of Vienna, situated along the beautiful Danube River in the Wachau Valley. The prehistoric grave of a child was found here, indicating thousands of years of human settlement.

      Melk is a small town in Austria along the Danube River. The most famous building in the town is the local abbey, which sits on a cliff overlooking the river.
