Day 1: Chicago-Kalamazoo-Gaylord (303 miles)

Today, we will start by departing from Chicago and head to Kalamazoo, Michigan! We will drive along the Maple Appreciation Avenue to enjoy the beautiful scenic views of the red leaves along the way. Following, we will take a stop after lunch at Cops & Doughnuts and then head to the Elk Park that is located in Gaylord City. Afterwards we will check out the unique landmark that is at a 45 degrees north latitude where the views are out of this world!

    Drive along the scenic road in late autumn to view the lush maple forests on both sides of the road. Here, you will see maple leaves in different shades and scattered patterns. Make sure to take a special look at the colorful scenery and picturesque views along the way. This is definitely worth the visit!

    Gaylord's City Elk Park

    Set on the edge of the city of Gaylord, City Elk Park is spread across an area of 108 acres (43.7 hectares). This park is home to a large herd of elks. It features several viewing areas from where animal enthusiasts can watch these elks. Set up in a fenced grassy area, these elks can move about freely in their natural habitat.

    45th Parallel Sign Gaylord

    Motorists passing through Gaylord on Interstate 75 can spot a green highway sign posted where the freeway crosses the 45th Parallel. For many northbound travelers this represents the place where "up north" begins and the landscape changes to pine forests and lakes. The sign reads: 45th Parallel Halfway Between Equator & Northpole.

Join us for another amazing day by drive through the tree-shaded tunnel known as "one of the ten most beautiful highways in the United States." It is easily one of the best places to enjoy the fall foliage in Michigan. The winding road is hidden in the tunnel that was formed by the intersection of branches. It is accompanied by the red and yellow maple leaves on both sides of the road, which is breathtaking. Afterwards, we will enjoy a lovely farm tour to experience the fruitful harvest season in the golden autumn of October

  • A mandatory service fees: Minimum $12 / day / person should be paid in cash to tour guide and the bus driver as a service fee. Any child / Infant reserving a seat will have to pay the service fees as well. Ex: 2 people taking a 2-day tour would pay: $12 x 2 (seats) x 2 (days) = $48.
  • Personal room fees: such as laundry or valet services, telephone calls, or alcoholic beverages/mini bar items, unless they are otherwise specified.
  • Any private expenses

  • Language: All tours are escorted by professional bi- or multi-lingual tour and/or driver guides (English/Chinese). Depending on the number of passengers booked for a particular departure, tours and/or languages may be combined to operate the tours.
  • Tour route may be changed and reversed; you may contact the vendor 1-2 days prior departure to confirm final itinerary

Confirmation

  • All purchases are subject to re-confirmation within 2-3 business days after booking. Please do not book the airline tickets until you received the confirmation.

Redemption

  • Complete operator information, including local telephone numbers at your destination, is included on your e-ticket. You must print the e-tickets and take them along on your trip; they are your proof of purchase.

Terms & Condition

  • Booking changes
    A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary may be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply. Please be noted that we do not allow departure change 48 hours before departure.
  • Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
    Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed and pending bookings. Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. The time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office. Notice of cancellation must be made directly to TakeTours by email or through webmail at Contact Us .
  • Cancellation penalties per person (request day and departure day are not counted)
    15 days or more prior to departure - Free cancellation with full refund. Please reconfirm the penalty for the added hotel or flight ticket.
    8-14 days prior to departure - 50% of total purchase amount.
    Within 7 days prior to departure or no show - 100% of the total purchase amount.
    Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.
    Trips require a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. We reserve the right to cancel a schedule trip to fully refund affected customers although tour companies will make every effort to maintain the normal operation.
    The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.
    NOTE: We cannot grant any refunds more than 30 days after completion of the tour.
  • Itinerary Variations
    We constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.
  • Tour Cancellation:
    We reserve the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure of the tour, TakeTours only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour. Please note that we are not liable for any cancellation penalties incurred on any other travel arrangements including air tickets purchased separately from customers.
    We are not responsible for any other travel arrangements affected due to our cancellations.
