Day 1: Cuzco

Today we will gather in Cuzco, CUS, Peru. During your pre-departure briefing in Cuzco, guests will receive all tickets for the buses, trains, and entry to Machu Picchu. For the majority of this 2-day trip, we will not be accompanied by a guide. Guests will only have a guide for the Machu Picchu tour.

Day 2: Cuzco - Ollantaytambo - Aguas Calientes (102 km)

Today we will transfer by car to Ollantaytambo, CUS and from there journey to Aguas Calientes, CUS by train. Guests may take an optional 1.5-hour tour up to the Mandor Waterfalls. At 6:00pm, the guide will meet us at the hotel for a quick briefing.

    This small town north of Cuzco is built around an archaeological site. At the height off the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti. It is one of the starting points of the Inca Trail.
  • Aguas Calientes, PERU

    This town sits 20 minutes down the mountain from Machu Picchu. Its name, "hot waters" in English, derives from the presence of numerous thermal springs in the area that make thisvillage a great place to relax after a hike.

Day 3: Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Ollantaytambo - Cuzco (110 km)

We will catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu so that we may see the early morning light over this amazing place. After a two-hour walking tour, guests will have time to explore on their own. Those who still have energy can climb Huayna Picchu, a mountain in the middle of the ancient town. We will return to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon and from there take a train to Ollantaytambo and then a bus back to Cuzco.

  • You will be picked up at 8:00am on Day 2.
  • There is a mandatory pre-departure briefing at our Cuzco Headquarters one day prior to departure at 5pm, 6pm or 7pm depending on your trek. You will receive detailed information on your excursion, a list of what to bring and confirm your departure details.
  • PRE-DEPARTURE CHECK-IN: Please make sure to check-in with your passport before your pre-departure briefing. We encourage our travellers to check-in at our offices a couple of hours before or any day prior to the briefing , that way we can give everybody personal attention and information regarding booking extras, rental equipment or questions in general.
  • Time schedule for meetings will be:
    - Inca Trail and Lares 6pm
    - Salkantay, Inca Quarry, Machu Picchu Jungle, Ausangate, Choquequirao 7pm
    - Inca Trail Express, Rainbow Mountain, Machu Picchu by Train, Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu, Machu Picchu Full Day 5pm

Confirmation

  • Please do not book any airline tickets until you receive the status of your booking.
  • Immediately after submitting your reservation you will receive a receipt of booking by email. Within 36 hours of submitting your reservation you will receive a confirmation email confirming the booking status.

Redemption

  • Complete operator information, including local telephone numbers at your destination, are included on your e-ticket. You must print and bring e-ticket(s) on your trip, as they serve as proof of purchase.

Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.Time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office. Notice of cancellation must be made directly to Taketours by email or through web mail at Contact Us .
  • Booking changes: A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary may be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply.
  • Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.
  • Trips require a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. We reserve the right to cancel a schedule trip to fully refund affected customers although tour companies will make every efforts to maintain the normal operation.
  • Itinerary Variations: We constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.
  • Tour Cancellation: We reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure of the tour, Taketours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour. Please note that we are not liable for any cancellation penalties incurred on any other travel arrangements including air tickets purchased separately from customers.
  • We are not responsible for any other travel arrangements affected due to our cancellations.

  • I would definitely recommend booking through TakeTours, especially if you don't speak the native language and aren't too familiar with the area. The tour operator was very good as well. The tour guide was professional and friendly. I am glad that I joined a group tour and met some fun people.
