Day 1: Fairbanks

After pickup from Fairbanks airport, guests will be transferred to hotel. Hotel usually checkin after 15:00. When night falls, we will take bus to the Aurora Viewing Lodge on the outskirts of the city at 22:00 and enjoy the northern lights. It is expected to arrive at the hotel between 02:00-03:00 in the morning.

    Aurora Viewing Lodge

Day 2: Fairbanks - Denali National Park - Fairbanks (184 miles)

We will depart from hotel to Denali National Park, enjoy spectacular views of the Alaska Range, explore the Denali Winter Visitor Center and enjoy a winter walk (complimentary snowshoes are available) through the frosted forest. Pack your own lunch to enjoy in the park while taking a break from snowshoeing.

If the Alaska Railroad's Aurora Winter Train has departures during your date of selection, you will be able to upgrade to ride the train back to Fairbanks.

Upon our return to Fairbanks, we will have time to enjoy dinner on own before another nighttime quest for the magical Lights at our Aurora Viewing Lodge. We will return to hotel between 2:00AM - 3:00AM.

    This massive national park rests in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness, covering over 4 million acres of land. It is home to Mt. McKinley, the tallest peak in North America.

    The Denali Visitor Center is the main source of visitor information. Most ranger-led programs begin at the Visitor Center. You can visit its exhibit hall.

Day 3: Fairbanks

We will drive through the boreal forest to Chena Hot Springs Resort, where you can soak in the indoor or outdoor hot pools, visit the ice museum and hotel, enjoy "appletini" in a glass carved from crystalline ice (at your own expense). You may enjoy the fine cuisine in the resort dining room (at your own expense), before returning to Fairbanks for your third night of scanning the skies for the mystical Northern Lights at the Aurora Viewing Lodge.

    Chena Hot Springs Resort

    Chena Hot Springs Resort
    Chena Hot Springs was founded over 100 years ago. The resort makes use of the first low-temperature binary geothermal power plant built in Alaska and is working on several alternative energy projects, including production and use of hydrogen and vegetable oil for fuel.

    Indoor pool: all ages welcome; Outdoor pool will be limited to 18 years of age and older only.

    Chena Hot Springs' Ice Museum

    Chena Hot Springs' Ice Museum is open year around and allows you to see the ice-sculptures of world famous sculpting masters. Explore "rooms" made out of ice as well as free standing sculptures.

    Try a cup of Apple Martini in cold winter and you could experience the magical sensation of an ice cup touching your lips.

Day 4: Fairbanks

You may choose to purchase an optional activity, including dogsledding, ice fishing or snowmachining. These can be arranged through your guide. Later in the day, we will explore fascinating local culture with a visit to Fairbanks Morris Thompson Cultural Center. You can also visit the Cultural Center gift shop to don traditional Athabascan clothing for photographs. Afterwards we will return back to hotel.

    Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center

    Each exhibit features images of native life in Alaska and miniature images of early gold panning and mining. Images and simulations take you back to the history of Alaska.

    Ice Fishing and Barbecue

    The fishing guide Don will guide you to catch the trout and salmon! The Fishing equipment, clothes, transportation from the hotel are included.The tour guide will assist you to buy a fishing license ($25/person at your own expense) on the tour day.

Depart from Fairbanks at 10:00am, we will take a comfortable coach for the journey across the Yukon River to the Arctic Circle and Coldfoot, Alaska. We will enjoy the low winter sun on the horizon as it shines on the windswept arctic tundra. Arrive in Coldfoot for overnight.

    Arctic Circle

    The Arctic Circle is the most northerly of the abstract five major circles of latitude as shown on maps of the Earth.

    Yukon River

    The Yukon River, which is one of the major rivers in North America, runs across Alaska and is injected into the Bering Sea. The whole basin is around 850,000 square kilometers, and is more famous for its natural resources (forests, gold and silver mines).

Day 6: Fairbanks - Coldfoot (180 miles)

Today we can select from a variety of optional tours at your own expenses: an excursion along the Dalton Highway, into the Brooks Mountain Range, as far north as Atigun Pass (weather permitting); a one-hour dog sledding experience with a local musher; and additional aurora viewing in Wiseman.

    Dalton Highway

    Brooks Range Safari

    Deep into the polar region and head towards the northernmost Brooks Mountains in North America.. The Gate of Arctic National Park is on the west side of the Dalton Highway. If fortunate enough, you can witness the caribou migration. Drive straight to the end of our trip - Sukakpak Mountain. On your way back, come to Wiseman, the only village along the Dalton Road.

Day 7: Coldfoot - Faribanks (180 miles)

Today we will return to Fairbanks via flight, arriving approximately 2:00pm-4:00pm. If flight canceled due to weather, we will return back to Fairbanks via ground transportation at around 2:00am next morning.
  • Airport Transfers: Pickup and drop off by the free shuttle of Hotel. 24 Hours service(guest's self-reservation). Meet the tour guide according to the itinerary confirmation which will be sent to you before 3-7 days before departure.

Additional Note

  • Coldfoot Camp: There are only two single beds in each room. If you book Triple or Quadruple room, you will be arranged in two separate rooms during your stay at Coldfoot Camp, and no one will share a room with strangers. You could just take the required items to Coldfoot Camp, store the heavy luggage in the front desk of Fairbanks hotel.
  • Coldfoot - Fairbanks Arctic Flight: Due to the weight limit, guests can only carry 10 lbs. luggage when taking the flight. If the Flight Tour is cancelled due to the bad weather, you will be rearranged going back to Fairbanks by bus.
  • This journey requires a US visa.
  • Due to fire safety requirements in Alaska, extra beds cannot be added to hotel rooms. Every room is furnished with 2 beds.
  • The optional tour is affected by the weather factors. If the tour got cancelled, we will issue a refund.
  • If there is any discrepancy between the schedule and the tour guide, please refer to the guide time.
  • There are a few restaurants along the Arctic Circle where you can have lunch and dinner or prepare your own meals.
  • Aurora is a natural phenomenon and depends on solar activity. You are not guaranteed to see it.
  • The order of the trip will be adjusted according to your departure dates and weather conditions.
  • Note that plans from many cellular carriers do not work in Alaska, please make sure the number you provided can receive texts or calls after landing, otherwise an alternative communication method should be established beforehand.

Confirmation

  • All purchases are subject to re-confirmation within 2-3 business days after booking. Please do not book airline tickets until you have received the confirmation.

Redemption

  • Complete operator information, including local telephone numbers at your destination, is included on your e-ticket. You must print the e-tickets and take them along on your trip; they are your proof of purchase.

  • Booking changes
    A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary may be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply. Please be noted that we do not allow departure change 48 hours before departure.
  • Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
    Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed and pending bookings. Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. Time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office. Notice of cancellation must be made directly to TakeTours by email or through web mail at Contact Us .
  • Cancellation and Refund Policy:
    TakeTours makes every effort to serve our customers better. We also advise all customers to purchase traveler's insurance in case of interruption, accidents, illness, or anything else that may come up. If a reservation has to be cancelled, customers will be charged a fee depending on how far from the departure date the cancellation takes place.
    16 or more days prior to departure - 10% of total purchase amount
    10-15 days prior to departure - 30% of total purchase amount
    6-9 days prior to departure - 50% of total purchase amount
    Within 5 days prior to departure - 100% of total purchase amount
    Day of departure or no-show - 100% of total purchase amount
    Notification day and departure day are NOT counted. Unused features are non-refundable. The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.NOTE: We cannot grant refunds more than 30 days after completion of tour.
  • Itinerary Variations
    We constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.
  • Tour Cancellation
    We reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure* of the tour, TakeTours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour. Please note that we are not liable for any cancellation penalties incurred on any other travel arrangements including air tickets purchased separately from customers.
