Guests will be picked up from their hotels in Joao Pessoa hotels in the morning. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations. From Joao Pessoa, we will follow the seafront along the beaches of Tambau, Manaira and Bessa, before arriving at Intermares, stopping to visit a nesting area for sea turtles, where this endangered species attempts to reverse the detrimental cycle. Proceeding along the coastline, we'll pass the beaches of Camboinha and Formosa, reaching the port town of Cabedelo where we'll explore the colonial Fortress of Santa Catarina. This strategically positioned fortification was the city's primary defense against the Dutch who threatened the Portuguese rule of Brazil. Views from the walls offer postcard views of the ocean and beaches. We'll also see the official starting point of the Trans-Amazonian Highway. The return journey includes a stop for lunch (at the guest's own expense), with free time for sea bathing. Don't miss the chance to try the region's wide variety of freshly caught seafood dishes! We will get back to Joao Pessoa in the afternoon, and guests will be subsequently dropped off at their hotels to bring an end to this tour.
