Day 1: Reykjavik

As guests arrive to the airport in Reykjavik, they will transfer to the hotel via the FlyBus shuttle. Guests will receive a FlyBus voucher in advance to take the shuttle that is located outside the arrival hall in front of the main airport exit. It takes about 45 minutes to transfer from the airport to the hotel. When guests arrive at the hotel, they will receive some information on how best to explore the Icelandic capital. There is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to downtown Reykjavik at 7:00pm, returning at 10:00pm.

Day 2: Volcano Crater - Seals - Fjords and Mountains - Akureyri (363 km)

We will meet our guide at 9:00am and leave Reykjavik, bound for the town of Borgarnes. Then, we will climb the Grabrok volcano crater. Later in the afternoon, we will visit a small fishing village in the northwest to see the local seal museum. Further north, we will stop at the Church of Vidimyri, considered one of the purest, most beautiful examples of traditional Icelandic architecture. We will continue traveling along the scenic landscape, dotted with fjords, until we reach Akureyri.

    Borgarnes is a town located 60 kilometers north of Reykjavik along the shore of Borgarfjorour municipality in Iceland. Popular tourist attractions include the Settlement Center (a twin museum exhibition), Bruouheimar (a unique center for puppet arts), Bjossarolo Park, and more.

Day 3: Akureyri - Lake Myvatn - Geothermal Baths (91 km)

In the morning, we will explore Akureyri, where we will visit the local botanical garden and enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the fjords. In the afternoon, we will explore Godafoss, the waterfalls of the gods and an important site in Iceland's history. Later, we will arrive at Lake Myvatn, known for its geological wonders and active bird population. We will spend the rest of the day exploring the area's bizarre lava formations, walking around the many pseudo-craters and ending the day with a relaxing soak in the Myvatn Nature Baths.

Day 4: Myvatn - Egilsstadir (174 km)

We will begin our morning by visiting Dimmuborgir, which means "dark castles," a labyrinth of lava formations. After an optional lunch, we will visit the hot spring area of Namaskard, where we will see bubbling mud pools and steaming solfataras. Then, we will drive through the uninhabited highlands of east Iceland to Egilsstadir.
  • Myvatn, ICELAND

    This lake in northern Iceland is situated in an area of volcanic activity. The landscape is dominated by volcanic formations, and even the lake itself was formed from an eruption over 2,300 years ago.

    Dimmuborgir

    This large area is loaded with fascinating volcanic formations. The name Dimmuborgir means "dark fortresses," a reference to the ominous citadel-like shape of these structures. The area is one of Iceland's most popular natural attractions.

    Namaskard

    If you didn't know any better, you would think that this area of volcanic and geothermal activity in northern Iceland was actually Mars! Travelers, be wary: though the landscape is fascinating, the sulfuric stench is pungent!

Day 5: Vatnajökull (61 km)

Today, we will admire the dramatic fjords that separate the tiny coastal fishing villages. Passing the town of Hofn, we will stop at a glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs. We may even see some local wildlife or take a walk on the beautiful black sand beaches. Then, we will travel to Vatnajokull, the country's most famous glacier.

    It is the largest national park in Europe, covering a total area of 12,850 km2 or almost 13% of Iceland, also has been nominated for inclusion on the Unesco World Heritage list.

Day 6: Vik

Today, we will travel across the Eldhraun Lava Field and the sandy terrain of the south coast of Iceland, set against a backdrop of mountain cliffs, glaciers and waterfalls. We will stroll along the black lava beach of Reynisfjara, near Vik. In the small village of Skogar, we will see the impressive Skogafoss waterfall. Continuing west, we will stop at the Eyjafjalljokull Information Center to learn more about glaciers and active volcanoes. Then, we will visit the high, narrow Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
  • Vik, ICELAND

    There are many natural places of interest in the small beachside town of Vík, including puffin and arctic tern breeding grounds, a spectacular set of rock columns known as Reynisdrangar, and Dyrhólaey. There are also hiking trails, bird-watching trips, and horseback riding on the black sands or snowmobile on Mýrdalsjökull.

    Reynisfjara

    The southern coast of Iceland contains a unique surprise for visitors: black sand beaches, formed due to the region's volcanic activity. Reynisfjara in particular has been called the coolest beach in the country.

    Skogafoss

    This waterfall in Iceland lies along the Skoga River where it once drained into the sea. The cliff at the top of the waterfall marks where the old coastline of Iceland was.

Day 7: Golden Circle - Reykjavik (192 km)

Today, we will drive along the most famous route in all of Iceland, the Golden Circle. Beginning in Fridheimar, we will learn about the special qualities and history of the Icelandic Horse. After that, we will see the steam rising from geothermal pools at Geysir, followed by its close neighbor, the eruptive Strokkur. Our next stop is Gullfoss, the "golden falls," an amazing double-waterfall. Moving inland, we will drive to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before making our way back to Reykjavik in the evening. In the evening, we can take an optional Northern Lights cruise.
  • Golden Circle, ICELAND

    Iceland's Golden Circle is the country's most popular tourist route, featuring several of the top geological formations in the country, such as the geysers of Strokkur and Geysir, as well as the Gullfoss waterfall.

    Fridheimar Farm

    Friðheimar is a greenhouse farm grow tomatoes, cucumbers and other vegetables all year round in Iceland. Friðheimar also breed horses, and put on a horse show in 14 languages.

    Geysir

    Considered the first geyser discovered by modern Europeans, the eruptions of Geysir can send boiling water up to 70 meters in the air. Only 50 meters away is Strokkur, another famous Icelandic geyser.

    Gullfoss

    This waterfall in southwest Iceland is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. It is a multi-tiered waterfall, which all empties into a crevice 32 meters deep.

Day 8: Reykjavik

Our journey will come to an end today as we say goodbye to our new friends over breakfast. Then, the FlyBus shuttle will take guests from Reykjavik to the airport.

  • This tour is recommended for travelers between 18-39 years old. Others are welcome, but most passengers will be within this age group.
  • Children are not allowed; Passengers must be over 18-year-old in order to join the tour.
  • Spending money: Every person has different spending habits, but to help you out with your planning, we estimated your average daily expenses. An approximate amount of �20 per day for lunch & dinner (without drinks), and �30 per day as personal spending money (souvenirs, handicraft etc. not included) is generally sufficient.

Confirmation

  • Immediately after submitting your reservation you will receive a receipt of booking by email. Within 2-3 business days of submitting your reservation, you will receive a confirmation email confirming the booking status. Please do not book any airline tickets until you receive the status of your booking.

Redemption

  • You will receive a confirmation voucher in 2-3 business days after you receive the e-ticket. Complete Operator information, including local telephone numbers at your destination and departure details, is included in your confirmation voucher. When you reserve your attractions and services you will be asked to print the confirmation voucher to present when you arrive at your destination. It is your proof of purchase.

  • Booking changes
    All changes, amendments or additions must be confirmed prior to 60 days of the departure date to avoid cancellation or amendment fees. No new passengers may be added to a booking once completed.

  • Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
    Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed and pending bookings. Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. Time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office. Notice of cancellation must be made directly to TakeTours by email or through web mail at Contact Us .
  • a) Name & Tour Date changes requested within:
    60-30 days of departure will incur an amendment fee of �25 per person;
    29-15 days of departure will incur an amendment fee of �50 per person;
    14 days of departure will be made at the sole discretion of tour operator.
    b) Tour Destination changes requested within:
    60-30 days of departure will incur an amendment fee of �35 per person;
    29 days of departure will be made at the sole discretion of tour operator.
    Changing the tour date and/or the destination is subject to availability of the new requested date and/or the destination. If the revised tour has a higher price and/or local payment, the price difference must be paid by the passenger. It is not possible to transfer the booking to travel dates outside of seasonal dates covered in tour operator brochure or by the relevant edition of the website valid at the time the original booking was made. Hotelier cancellation charges are liable to be paid by the passenger in the event of booked pre-tour and post-tour accommodation being unused whatever the circumstances are.
  • Cancellations penalty within the balance payment period (60-0 days prior to departure) are as follows: (Notification day and departure day are not counted)
    60 days or more prior to departure - �60 per person.
    59-30 days prior to departure - 70% of total purchase amount.
    29-15 days prior to departure - 85% of total purchase amount.
    1-14 days prior to departure - 100% of total purchase amount.
    Day of departure or no show - 100% per person.
    Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.
    The refund amount will be credited directly to your TakeTours wallet as credits for future use. Or the refund can also be forwarded directly to your credit card with a 6% handling fee.
    NOTE: We cannot grant any refunds more than 30 days after completion of tour.
  • Itinerary Variations
    We constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.
  • Tour Cancellation:
    We reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure* of the tour, TakeTours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour. Please note that we are not liable for any cancellation penalties incurred on any other travel arrangements including air tickets purchased separately from customers. We are not responsible for any other travel arrangements affected due to our cancellations.
