This tour will begin after guests have been picked up from their hotels in Reykjavik. Today, we will visit the presidential residence at Bessastadir, followed by Hafnarfjordur, a nearby town. In the capital, we will enjoy lunch at Perlan, a fine local restaurant. Then, we will visit the Hallgrimskirkja, the Old Town Center, Reykjavik University, and Laugardalur. In the city center, we will take a break to take a brief stroll or grab a bite to eat. Afterwards, we will head to Thingvellir National Park, followed by the Geysir geothermal area and the Gullfoss Waterfall. After this, we will return to Reykjavik, where the tour will end.     Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and was founded in 1786. Its important function as a seaport has led to its continual development over the past two-plus centuries. It has been called "the nightlife capital of the north."

    Bessastadir

    Bessastadir is the official resident of the President of Iceland. Located in the town of Alftanes, visitors can also see the accompanying church, one of the oldest structures in Iceland dating back to 1796.

    Hallgrimskirkja

    Hallgrimskirkja is a Lutheran Church in Reykjavik and the largest church in Iceland. Founded in 1945, Hallgri-mskirkja was architecturally designed to resemble the lava flows of Iceland's landscape. The church is also used as an observation tower.

    Old Town Center

    The Old Town Center of Reykjavik is decorated with brightly colored historical buildings which makes this neighborhood a quaint and beautiful destination for tourists. Visit the Icelandic Parliament and Town Hall, Domkirkjan (Icelandic cathedral), museums, universities, theatre, restaurants, shops and more.

    Laugardalur

    The name of this district of Iceland's capital means "laundry valley" because a great deal of washing was done in its stream. It lies just east of the city center, and is home to the city's main stadium.

    Reykjavik University

    Home to a student body of over 3,500 people, Reykjavik University is the largest private research institution in Iceland. It is fully bilingual in English and Icelandic, and has schools for Law, Computer Science, Business, and Science & Engineering.

    Hafnarfjordur is the third largest city in Iceland, located 10 kilometers south of Reykjavik. The city hosts many festivals, the most popular of which is the Viking Festival. Visitors enjoy this urban center for its culture, history, cuisine, and more.
  • Thingvellir National Park, ICELAND

    Thingvellir National Park is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and the most popular tourist destination in Iceland. Thingvellir has unusual tectonic and volcanic geological features and visitors can enjoy a wide array of activities including camping, hiking, and scuba diving.
  • Golden Circle, ICELAND

    Iceland's Golden Circle is the country's most popular tourist route, featuring several of the top geological formations in the country, such as the geysers of Strokkur and Geysir, as well as the Gullfoss waterfall.

    Gullfoss

    This waterfall in southwest Iceland is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. It is a multi-tiered waterfall, which all empties into a crevice 32 meters deep.

    Geysir

    Considered the first geyser discovered by modern Europeans, the eruptions of Geysir can send boiling water up to 70 meters in the air. Only 50 meters away is Strokkur, another famous Icelandic geyser.
