After pickup in Madrid, we will drive south to Toledo, and amazing medieval city that served as a crossroads of Spanish Christian, aJewish, and Muslim cultures. Here, we will see the Cathedral, the Church of St. Tome, the Synagogue of Santa Maria la Blanca, the Jewish Quarter, the Mosque of El Cristo de la Luz, and more. Comfortable shoes are recommended. Afterwards, we will return to Madrid to go on a sightseeing tour of the capital. We will begin by observing the medieval origins of the city at places like the Arabic Fortress and the Barrio de la Moreria. We will also discover the elements of Hapsburg Madrid. Along the way, we will see the Royal Palace, the Calle Mayor, the Plaza Mayor, the Cibeles Fountain, Neptune Fountain, and the Puerta de Alcala. We will also see the Prado Museum, the Gran Via, Ventas Bullring, the Santiago Bernabeau, and much more.
From 4/1/2019, the itinerary will change as follow:
In the morning, we will head to the Plaza de Oriente and arrive at the Debod Temple to have a walking tour. Then, we will continue to the Plaza Mayor and visit and Puerta del Sol. Next, we will head to Carrera de San Jerónimo Street, Las Cortes (Spanish Parliament), Neptuno's Square (Famous artistic fountain), Paseo Del Prado (Walk of Art: Thyssen, Prado & Reina Sofía Museums), Atocha Railway Station, Royal Botanic Gardens of Madrid, Cibeles Square (Famous artistic fountain), Alcalá Street, Alcalá's Gate, Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas (Bullring). We will end up seeing Santiago Bernabéu Stadium (Home of Real Madrid CF), Paseo de la Castellana Street, Plaza de Colón (Columbus Square), National Library, Gran Vía Street, Plaza de España, Plaza de Oriente.
In the afternoon, we will visit Toledo. We will begin our tour visiting the outside of the Cathedral and then go to the interior of the Sto. Tomé Church with The Burial of the Lord of Orgaz, masterpiece of El Greco. After that, we will visit interior of the Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca and finally we will head to San Juan de los Reyes. After visiting, we may view a demonstration of the famous technique of damascened. Next, guest may have free time to explore Toledo.

    This church in Toledo was built during the period of the Spanish Reconquest over an old mosque, and visitors can still see the arabesque designs on the exterior of the church's tower, which was the mosques old minaret.

    Toledo's historic Jewish Quarter was a bustling urban center prior to the Spanish Inquisition during the Renaissance. It's narrow streets and winding passageways create a labyrinth within Toledo.

    Calle Mayor

    This Baroque palace is the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family, although it is only used for state functions. Built in 1738, the palace is nearly 1.5 million square-feet, and contains paintings by many European greats.

    Fountain of Cibeles

    Fountain of Cibeles
    The centerpiece of the plaza that bears the same name, the Fountain of Cibeles features a statue of an ancient Phrygian goddess sitting atop a lion-drawn chariot, who has been adopted as a symbol of the city of Madrid.

    Puerta de Alcala

    This monument is designed in the neo-Classical style, and stands near Madrid's city center, reminiscent of the old medieval gates to the city, although this gate stands alone.

    Paseo de la Castellana

    La Castellana is a wide avenue that cuts North-to-South through the very center of Madrid, one of the city's busiest streets, and home to some of its most famous buildings including the Puerta de Europa and the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

    Plaza de Castilla

    Along the Paseo de la Castellana lies the Plaza de Castilla, a large public square and convergence point for some of the Madrid's busiest streets. At its center lies the Caja Madrid Obelisk and the Puerta de Europa towers are on its north end.

    Santiago Bernabeu Stadium

    Home of legendary Real Madrid Club de Futbol, perhaps the most famous sports team in the world, the stadium was opened in 1947 and is the second-largest of any European soccer team, behind only arch-rivals Barcelona's Camp Nou.

    Gran Via

    The Gran Via, oftentimes referred to as "The Spanish Broadway," is a central avenue in Madrid with some of the finest shops in the city, not to mention one of the most active nightlife scenes of any European city.
