  • Avila, SPAIN

    Avila, SPAIN
Avila is a small town in Castile and Leon, Spain. Not much has changed since the Middle Ages, as far as the architecture is concerned, as the town's original medieval defense walls still proudly stand.

    Old Town

    Old Town
The medieval walls that surround the Castilian town of Avila, which boasts one of the highest numbers of Romanesque and Gothic churches in the whole of Spain, still stand, impressively guarding the city.

    Basilica of San Vicente

    Basilica of San Vicente
This Romanesque church in Avila is considered one of the best examples of that particular architectural style in Spain, named for one of the early martyrs of the Catholic church.

    Cathedral of Avila

    Cathedral of Avila
The Romanesque Cathedral of Avila is built right into the medieval walls that wrap around the old town, because it was originally planned as a dual cathedral and fortress, though no one is sure when it was constructed.

    Convent of Santa Teresa

    Convent of Santa Teresa
Built over the birthplace of its namesake saint in 1636, this convent is operated by Carmelite nuns and was constructed in the Baroque style of architecture.

    Plaza Mayor

    Plaza Mayor
Avila's Plaza Mayor is modest, but it still must be appreciated by any visitors, who will enter the area under the Romanesque/Gothic arches that line the plaza's exterior. Avila City Hall is the most prominent building.
  • Segovia, SPAIN

    Segovia, SPAIN
Being one of the largest Roman structures in Spain, it was built in the period of "Flavio" around 50AD. With a profound culture and history in Segovia, you can visit Segovia Aqueduct, Alcazar de Segovia etc.

    Segovia Cathedral

    Segovia Cathedral
This incredible cathedral in Segovia was built towards the end of the Gothic period, between 1525-1577. The facility is built on a hill, towering over the rest of the city, and is brightly illuminated after dark.

    Alcazar of Segovia

    Alcazar of Segovia
Like the other Alcazars located throughout Spain, the one in Segovia was a renovated Arab fortress, converted to a magnificent castle after the Christian reconquest of Spain. It rests at the far-northern edge of town, atop a steep cliff.

Question
How long is the drive to Avila? From Avila to Segovia and Segovia back to. Madrid? How long do we spend in each town? Will we have free time to browse on our own? Is this tour non-smoking?
by Debbie Netter on 2021-08-26
Answer
Dear Customer, Unfortunately we do not have timed itineraries available until the day of the tour as it is the tour guide to provide that information. There is no smoking allowed on the bus.
