Frankfurt is where routes in three directions begin. Westbound itineraries run through Cologne to Amsterdam, Brussels, Luxembourg and Paris. Eastbound itineraries cross into the Czech Republic, Austria and Hungary, reaching Prague, Vienna and Budapest, with some continuing into the Balkans. The longest routes combine both and carry on south through Switzerland into Italy. In the city itself, tours take in the Romer, the Frankfurt Cathedral and Goethe House.

Three directions start here, and the direction shapes the trip more than the length does. Westbound runs through Cologne to Amsterdam, Brussels, Luxembourg and Paris, covering flat country and canal cities. Eastbound runs to Prague, Vienna and Budapest, taking in Bratislava and Vaduz on the way, with some routes continuing into the Balkans. The longest routes combine both and add Switzerland and Italy.
Routes from Frankfurt range from two countries to thirteen. Shorter itineraries stay in one direction and cover neighbouring countries only. The longest run both loops in sequence, reaching Italy in the south and Hungary in the east on a single booking. More countries means more time on the road each day and less time in each city, so the count is worth weighing against the pace you want.
Some routes list a second boarding point on the same departure, most often Cologne, and a few also list Amsterdam. This is the same coach and the same itinerary rather than a separate tour, so joining later means starting partway through the route. Boarding points and times are listed on the tour page, and the choice is made when you book rather than on the day.
Tags on each tour describe how it runs rather than what it costs. Flexible means you choose where to leave the loop. Multi-Country means the route crosses borders. Easy Pace, Solo-Friendly and Vegetarian-Friendly describe how the tour is set up for different travellers. Free Breakfast and Airport Pick up indicate what is included. Tags differ from route to route, so check them on the tour you are considering.
The old town centres on the Romer, the city hall complex on Romerberg square, with the Frankfurt Cathedral a short walk away. Goethe House, the writer's birthplace, and St. Paul's Church are both nearby. The historic centre is compact enough to cover on foot, which makes it workable on the day before a route departs or the day after one returns.
Routes run through most of the year. Late spring through early autumn brings the longest daylight and the fullest schedule. Winter departures are fewer, and eastbound routes crossing higher ground can be affected by snow. Some stops along these routes are seasonal and open only part of the year. Most run as a loop back to Frankfurt. On flexible routes you choose where to leave the loop, so the finishing point depends on the length you book. The tour page states where each route ends.
