Then continue to visit the Archaeological site of VangXang which was built during the Hmong-Khmer Empire between the 8th and 11th centuries. We arrive at Nam Ngum Reservoir at lunchtime, your lunch will be served at the boat restaurant on the lake.
After lunch, embark on a boat ride to visit fishing villages on the islands (1.5 hours). On the way back to Vientiane, visit a traditional salt abstraction site at Ban Keun and continue to Dong Mark Khai Market where local people gather to sell wild animals and a large selection of insects. Back at your hotel in Vientiane in the late afternoon.
This one-day Excursion offers hiking from Water Fall to Water Fall the place where you can swim and relax, The national protected area of Phoukhaokhouy is nearest to the national park to Vientiane. Besides some great scenery and beautiful waterfalls, the NPA offers a trail through dry evergreen and mixed deciduous forests.
Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai We will be transferred from Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai, where a long-tail boat takes us upstream on the Nam Mang, before continuing along one of its tributaries, HouayXai. A 2 hours trek passes through an evergreen canopy as we gain height. A picnic lunch is served on the way.
The magnificent pair of waterfalls Tad Xay and PhaXay, particularly beautiful during and after the rainy season are reached in the afternoon. You have some free time at Tad Xay which has a pool recommended for bathing.
