What You'll See on the Canadian Side

Everything sits along the Niagara Parkway above the gorge, close enough to walk between. Table Rock stands at the brink of the Horseshoe Falls, and the Niagara City Cruises dock is about a kilometre north at river level — the boats run spring to late autumn only. The Skylon Tower looks down on all three falls from up the hill. The Rainbow Bridge walkway looks straight down the gorge at all three, and is also the border crossing to the American side.

The Rainbow Bridge across the Niagara River connects Niagara, Ontario to Niagara, New York. It is an international landmark and impressive architectural feat. In addition to private vehicles, pedestrians and bikes can cross the bridge for a small toll.

We highly recommend this tour. It is considerably cheaper than booking a separate means of transportation + hotel. They give you the choice of which activities to book, and alternatives for the ones you want to skip. The ticket prices are similar to the ones you would actually pay for at the kiosks, so not overpriced. At least, you skip the line as the tour guide books them in advance for you. Also, plenty of stops on the way, so you don’t really feel it’s an extremely long trip.

The fall colors were beautiful, and the Agawa Canyon train was the highlight for me. The ticket was an extra cost, but seeing Black Beaver Falls and Bridal Veil Falls made it worthwhile.

This route links the main cities of several eastern provinces, and ten days covered quite a lot. The drives were long, but stops like the Hartland Covered Bridge and the world's largest lobster statue kept things from getting dull.

The flight itself was only 12 minutes, but the view over Horseshoe Falls and Rainbow Bridge from above was special. There was a short wait before boarding, and we watched a safety video first. The whole process went smoothly.

The train ride into Agawa Canyon was the scenic highlight for me, with red maples and waterfalls all around. The ticket had to be paid upfront and was non-refundable though, but luckily our trip ran as scheduled.
