Antelope Canyon tours and vacation packages take you into the sandstone slots of Upper Antelope, Lower Antelope and Canyon X, all within a few miles of Page in northern Arizona. The canyons sit on Navajo land and can only be entered on a guided walk at a booked time, so tours arrange entry as part of the trip. Most itineraries also stop at Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell, and combine the canyons with the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon on wider Southwest loops.
Page sits far enough from Las Vegas that a day trip spends most of its hours on the road. An overnight changes that — two and three day routes reach the canyons with the Grand Canyon's East and South Rim on the same trip, and Horseshoe Bend and Lake Powell alongside. Longer itineraries add Zion, Bryce Canyon and Monument Valley, or run west to Yosemite and the California coast. Hotels, transport and guided canyon entry are arranged as one booking.
Three slot canyons lie within a few miles of Page, and they are not interchangeable. Upper Antelope is walked at ground level and is where the shafts of light appear when the sun is high; it is also the most expensive of the three. Lower Antelope is narrower and entered by stairs and ladders, which rules it out for some travelers but costs less — on this site the difference runs to around $60 on a day trip. Canyon X is the quietest. Horseshoe Bend is a separate stop nearby, a river overlook reached on a short walk.
Day trips run from Las Vegas to Page and back the same day, with Horseshoe Bend on the same route. Price depends on which canyon you enter and when — Upper Antelope costs more than Lower, and tours booked for the midday window when the light shafts appear cost more again. Some include canyon admission in the price and others charge it separately, which the tour page states. Small-group and private options carry fewer travelers through the canyon.

Yes. The canyons sit on Navajo land and can only be entered on a guided walk at a booked time slot, with a fixed number of people admitted in each. Tours arrange the slot as part of the booking, which is why entry is not something you can decide on the day. Popular times fill first, so the further ahead you book, the more choice you have over which canyon and which time.
The shafts of light in Upper Antelope form when the sun is high enough to reach the canyon floor through the opening above, so they appear in the middle of the day and only during part of the year. Tours booked for that window are priced higher and sell out first — on this site they carry a Golden Time or best lighting label. Outside those hours the canyon is still lit, but as reflected colour on the walls rather than defined beams.
They sit on the same stretch of road. Page is a few hours on from the Grand Canyon's eastern side, with Horseshoe Bend on the way, so a route that reaches one can take in the other without doubling back. Combining them is also what makes an overnight worthwhile — a day trip from Las Vegas can reach Antelope Canyon, but not both.
Phones and handheld cameras are permitted on standard walking tours. Tripods and large bags are generally not, since the passages are narrow and groups move through on a schedule. Some operators run separate photography permits with different rules and longer time inside; where a tour includes one, the tour page says so. If photography is the reason for the trip, check the tour page rather than assuming.
Day trips include transport and a guide from Las Vegas. Canyon admission is included on some and charged separately on others, which the tour page states — this accounts for much of the price difference between otherwise similar day trips. Multi-day tours add hotel accommodation throughout the route. All activities are optional, and the advertised price includes every mandatory fee.
The canyons are open year-round and the walls are sheltered, so weather matters less inside than on the drive there. Summer is hot across the desert and the busiest season, and it is also when the light beams in Upper Antelope are at their strongest. Spring and fall are more comfortable for the journey. Heavy rain anywhere upstream can close the canyons at short notice, as the slots drain rapidly.
The choice of canyon matters more here than the tour. Upper Antelope is walked on sand at ground level with no climbing. Lower Antelope is entered and left by flights of metal stairs and ladders, which some travelers cannot manage — it costs less, and that is the trade-off. Both are guided walks of roughly an hour to ninety minutes. The longer consideration is the drive: a day trip from Las Vegas is a long day in the coach.
Meals are not usually included, and groups stop where travelers order individually. Page is a small town and the stops on the drive from Las Vegas are far apart, so carrying water and something to eat is worth doing. Food and drink other than water are not permitted inside the canyons. Note any dietary requirements when you book rather than on the day.
