I recently went on the 4 Day Niagara Falls Tour. Our tour guide Wendy was great, friendly, accommodating and helpful. Our driver Jo Lin was also great.

I took the 4 Day Niagara Falls, Toronto, Montreal Tour from New York tour Aug 8-11, 2016 with my 20-year-old twins and 9 year old. I did a lot of research prior to booking and although I was a little apprehensive given all of the negative reviews I read, I felt I knew exactly what to expect and was determined to make the best of it. However, I'm happy to say, this trip exceeded our expectations! Our original plan was to drive the exact route but, besides the unbeatable price (one of us went for free as it was Buy 2 Get 1 free), I decided the drive was just going to be too much and booked the tour instead. Boy am I glad I did! There is no way we would have done half of the things we did had I driven instead.
Our tour was organized by L&L Travel- a Chinese company. Of the 51 passengers on our bus, I am pretty sure we (and one other gentleman) were the only non-Asian people on the bus but it was really not an issue for us. Tom announced everything in easy-to-understand English first and then translated to Chinese. I am not sure if it was a cultural thing or perhaps just the language barrier, but some of the other passengers did come across a little rude at times. Our bus did not have wi-fi or charging stations (it was too old) but we were prepared with chargers and movies to watch. We also brought small pillows and blankets which were able to leave on the bus in our assigned seats whenever we got off. Our bus did have a bathroom but we were asked not to use it except for an emergency which was appreciated by all given that the waste has nowhere to go and would remain on the bus. This was not a problem for anyone as we stopped every two hours for a bathroom break when driving for long stretches.
Our tour guide was Tom and he was GREAT! He was very organized and everything was planned and timed perfectly. He was great at keeping us informed about what to expect, where to go and when to be back. Luckily we had a good group on our bus who stuck to the schedule because I could see how being late could throw off an entire day. Our bus driver was Pablo. He was also fantastic. Tom and Pablo worked great together and I couldn't have asked for a better team. We were lucky enough to get to sit in the front of the bus by Tom and Pablo so we got to talk to them over the four day trip and ask questions whenever we had them. Tom called the night before our tour to confirm and ask about tour travel documents and he also provided some fun facts about things we drove by along the way.
As for money, I did not bring or exchange for CAN$ while we were there but in retrospect, I probably should have. Most places took my VISA card which automatically does the exchange with no fee (some do charge a fee so check with your issuer first), but there were several instances where I had to use cash and although they took US$ they did not take it at the exchange rate, nor did they give me change in US$, so I ended up paying more than I should have. Although we could have walked, we opted to take a taxi from our hotel to see Niagara Falls in Canada at night. It was a long day with a lot of walking and we had to be up early. We also took a taxi while we were in Chinatown as we didn't eat with the tour (based on the reviews). We ended up walking pretty far from the drop-off and ate at a place with semi-slow service so we took a taxi so we weren't late getting back to the bus. We also ate at a few street places that didn't or wouldn't take my VISA card.
The first motel we stayed at was the Universal Inn just outside of Niagara Falls ON. It was a little run down and there were stains on the rug, but the wifi worked, the TV worked and the beds were comfortable. The second night we stayed at Quality Hotel in Toronto. The beds were comfortable but our room was all the way in a corner so the wifi didn't really work. It worked in the lobby though so we used it there. The last night we stayed at a Comfort Inn in Laval QC which was changed from the Sandman Hotel in Longueuil QC: the wifi worked and beds were very comfy.
The first morning we had to be at the bus at 7:45am, but the second morning we needed to be on the bus by 5:30am in order to drive the 2+ hours to Thousand Islands for the breakfast cruise. The last morning we had to be on the bus at 6am because the change in our hotel put us 45 minutes further away. Getting up so early wasn't fun but being able to nap on the bus and getting to see so much in 4 days made it well worth it.
Customs was a breeze for us. On the way in we got off of the bus and walked through. On the way home we stayed on the bus and an agent came on and collected our travel documents. About 15 minutes later he brought them back and we were done. The weather cooperated for us. It was a little warm but the only rain we had was on the ride home and it was overcast on our breakfast cruise.
The attractions we paid for were: Watkins Glen State Park, Hornblower Niagara Cruise, Skylon Revolving Restaurant Lunch, CN Tower, and Thousand Islands Cruise Breakfast. I recommend them all. The only one I wish we would have done was Ausable Chasm but it was not listed on the itinerary I printed out (either was the French dinner in Montreal)so I didn't know what it was about until we got there.
If I had to mention any criticisms it would be the lack of options in Montreal. Olympic Stadium was disappointing and there wasn't much around to do instead. But there was a cafe, a cute little interactive animal attraction that my 9 year old enjoyed and there was wifi for my 20 year olds, so no one really complained. Although The Thousand Island boat tour was one of the highlights for me, the breakfast they served was not very good but I would still recommend it for the experience. (The coffee was great though!) The CN Tower was also a little disappointing after the Skylon Tower.
Regarding complaints I've read in several other reviews:
Hidden Fees/Service fee $8 per day per person: I had no problems understanding this was expected when I booked our tour and thus found no hidden fees or unexpected charges. I also don't think it is too much to ask. But then again, my tour guide and driver were fantastic so I didn't have a problem with it. I also gave them both an additional tip when the tour was over.
Having to pay additional for attractions: I don't understand how people would think that the small amount we paid would include so much. Yes, it adds up to quite a bit more but you do not have to participate in everything. We were in no way forced or shamed into buying any attractions, let alone all of the options.
Watkins Glen is free to enter but we were charged $10 each: people need to understand that this company is in business to make money, not break even! They could have brought us somewhere else that does charge us to get in but Watkins Glen is not something you would want to miss. It takes a lot of work to organize these tours. Finding the best hotel deals, timing the attractions to avoid the lines, training the tour guides, hiring buses, dealing with the unexpected and much more we don't even know about are all part of a service we are paying for. Just the fact that they had us start at the top of the gorge and walk down 832 steps rather than walk up was well worth that $10 to me!
All in all, we had a great time and we are all glad we didn't drive.
This was such an awesome trip. You get to see so many things and places in such a short amount of time. Our tour leader was Faith, she is awesome. She knows exactly how much time we needed at each attraction, where we can get good food to eat, what to eat. She was always there to help us. She was so patient and helpful. I wish I can have her on every tour. I am looking forward to booking more tours with TakeTours.
Out tour leader was Faith. She was really awesome. She did everything so perfectly. I would want her as my tour leader for all the tours. She knew exactly where to go and what to do. Helped us a lot with everything. She didn't let us waste out time. She gave details on what to see. Had an amazing tour with my brother. We got to see so many things at this short amount of time. Really worth the money. You don't really need Canadian money but you should in case some restaurant or stores takes US dollar as Canadian money so you end up paying more.
I took this tour on 3/14/16, and we were really enjoyed the tour and had a lot fun. Our tour guide is Mai Zhang, a very young and profession tour guide. We loved the meals, the views and also our lovely tour guide!!!!!Recommend to take this tour!!
A recommended tour if you want a brief visit to Niagara Falls, Ottawa and Montreal. Tour guide Wendy Wen and bus driver Chris had done a wonderful job during our tour from 15 - 18 Feb 2016. Wendy had given her best and take good care for all her customers. As for extras cost on the 8 tour sites, it depends on your whims and fancy. I only take the lunch at Skylon Tower and the French dinner in Montreal. It's nice!
We took a 4-day Canada tour. It was wonderful. Our tour guide was Wendy. She was super friendly and very accommodating; however, there was a lack of communication. The tour was Chinese audience oriented and we had a small problem understanding. Also, the Thundering Water show and Niagara Falls IMAX were amateur and disappointing. I wish we could have filled that time with some other activities. Despite this, we had an awesome time and would recommend TakeTours to friends!
This trip is made for when you want a short getaway. Of course there is a lot of traveling around and a lot on the itinerary. You will need to bring cash. Notes: Don't eat at any of the fancy buffets, they are not worth it. Also, the Skylon Tower food is bad, just go to observe it. Wendy was a great tour guide. Her singing was good and you'll love the way she wakes the bus up.
I recently went on the 4 day Niagara and Toronto trip. We had an excellent trip and would highly recommend it to anyone who has not seen Canada. I especially enjoyed the 1000 Island boat ride and the Grand Canyon. The tour guide "Faith" was excellent as was the bus driver.
I went with my daughter and wife. Itinerary was good. Tour guide was friendly but repeats every simple sentence 3,4 times in English and than 3,4 times in Chinese. We could not visit one New York's state parks due to rain, but the tour guide immediately refunded whoever purchased that option. Overall it was worth it. I'll take another tour if I get a couple of days vacation next year :-).
It was a great trip with a professional driver and nice tour guide. The itinerary was good, just no time to stay in the city. We really enjoyed as much as the money spent. Thank you, we'll book another tour for sure.
We really enjoyed this trip! It was the third one we had done with TakeTours. The tour guide, Faye, was super nice and knew a lot of details about our destinations. Josh, the bus driver also was very friendly and drove safely all the way.
I really liked the Chinese dinner as well, because I had never eaten authentic Chinese food in the authentic Chinese way ;)
Thank you, Faye, for always being patient and making this 4-day-trip a memorable experience!
Carola & Jenny
Excellent tour for the kind of money we paid. Excellent tour guide, Ms. Faith. We had enough time to see all the attractions and eat. Hotels were very good except at Niagara Falls stay. I strongly recommend this tour.
My friend and I enjoyed the tour a lot. It was very fun, but was quite a rush too. The sightseeing locations were very interesting. The hotels were good given the price that we paid. The tour guide, Faith, is also very nice and helpful. She helped us with transportation and even currency exchange.
Our 4 days tour to Canada was awesome. Our tour guide (Lawrence) and driver (Matt) were fantastic. The trip was amazing, exciting and well organized. I was amazed of how much of Canada we got to see in 4 days. The attractions were good. Lunch on the revolving restaurant at Skylon Tower and breakfast on the boat on 1000 island. Great experience. Highly recommend this tour. Thanks!!!
I had such an amazing time. It was a birthday trip that I spent with 21 other people for 4 days. I was able to experience the multiple cities and experience all in 4 short days. The tours guide was able to translate everything in two different languages. Please be advises the the excursions are a package deal and work better by paying the one lump sum. If there is a list of sites just add up all the prices and add about $50 to it because the deal includes a few meals. I think the trip was amazing, exciting, and wonderful. Also remember there is a lot of walking too. Wear the right shoes!
The tour was great, it catered mostly to the Chinese population and as a result the only draw back I had was most of the food stops were Chinese. Attractions were good, hotels were good, and our tour guide Wendy was simple great. She knew everything inside and out, great job Wendy!
I was with 11 other New York City teachers on this 4-Day Canada Tour. We enjoyed it so much and our tour guide, Wendy, was very accommodating and helpful.
The places were good. I will recommend this tour to my other friends.
The tour was good, the tour guide Dolkar was very nice with every one in the group. The only problem was in the bus, the door of the bathroom was locked so the driver had to stop every 2 or 3 hours to let the people use the bathroom of any store in the way.
The tour was good although there were itineraries that were cancelled because they were not opened yet. The tour guide Wendy is friendly and accommodating. I recommend this tour to friends.
We had fun.
My family and I went on the 4 day trip to Canada. Friends told me that the Chinese is no good but to my better judgement I choose them anyway. The trip was well organized & the added expenses were good. We had a great crew and we were always on time. The sites visited will always be memorable. And,Faye the tour guide was fantastic. She has great knowledge of the history and places on the itinerary. Highly recommended
All I can say is that we were amazed and surprised after all the bad reviews we had read about chinese touring companies. the tour was really organized,
accommodation was up to our expectations. all in all i highly recommend this tour .
I had a 4 days tour to Canada with my parents, fye was out tour guide and she was tacking care of everything , we have visited a lot places and we used every minutes our trip, I would consider to travel with you guys in future.
Very good experience, I went with my son and his wife. We visited all the places they advertised. Tour guide good friendly sometimes, of course they care more about Chinese people if you don't buy all the tickets to visit places they don't like it, even though is optional. we all enjoyed this trip.
We went on a 4 day trip to Canada, it was great even though we had an inconvinience it was well handled by the driver Juan and the tourist Sandy. Will definitely do it again. Will recommend to my friends. Thank you
The tour was good, points of interest well chosen. The bus driver George was nice. Tour guide Sandy was very professional, tried her best to please everyone esp. when the bus broke down. Despite an almost 6 hours wait to get another bus Sandy was able to take us to at least 2 itinerary for that day. She is a well qualified employee that stands for her company but at the same time take care of the tour group. We were able to go to all the areas except for Ausable chasm due to heavy rain. I applaud Sandy. Job well done. Tour was fun and very informative
The tour guide Sandy worked very hard to get problem resolved. She was able to deliver and was very concerned for her tour group. She had good knowledge of the points of interest and was good in alloting times for each one of them. The schedule was on time till we got to the 3rd day when our bus broke down! We had to wait for 3 hours to have the bus company send a replacement bus and that would have been acceptable (what can we do,?)but the replacement bus went to another part of New York so we ended up waiting for almost 3 hours more. We were tired, hungry and missed a perfect day to do our tour. By the time the bus came it was foggy, raining a little bit and we didnt have time to enjoy 1 place since it was dark, we are all tired and upset.Despite all these our tour guide Sandy was GREAT!
Amazing Tour!!! Our Guide, Steve, was a sweet heart and the driver was a real trooper, they both worked so hard to make our trip unforgettable and they succeeded!! I recommend this tour 1000 times, it was so great! I do not recommend you to go if you dont have at least 2 days to rest after you come home. I'm tired as HELL but soooo happy!!!! Thanks!!
Enjoyed the 3 day tour seeing Corning Glass, Niagara Falls, Toronto, 1000 Islands. Lunch in the revolving restaurant at Skylon tower and breakfast on the 1000 island cruise were great. Chinese restaurants had fantastic buffets. Accommodation was good. We were lucky to have fireworks when we arrived at Niagara Falls. I do not recommend IMAX. Tour guide was lovely. Thankyou for organising a great trip!
The tour was very good. I was concerned about traveling with young children but they also had a good time. The tour guide was great and very informative. We really enjoyed the tour and would travel with this company again.
We went for a four day tour to Canada and it was awesome.. I brought with me my 3 kids and they had a good time as well. They reversed our trip instead of Niagara first it went to Montreal which is ok. All in all we had a good time. Our tour guide is Wendy and bus driver Susan. They were a good team. I just wished that they have more better selections of restaurants stops because not all of us who travels are chinese.. They always have chinese buffet they should give us a chance to explore ohter restaurants specially in Chinatown Toronto. We were gonna walk around in Chinatown but we got stucked eating Chinese food because we already paid for it. But the food was really good in that restaurant I just wished that we were given time to explore more..But that's all. other than that it went well. The hotels are decent Except for the Montreal part when I used the hair dryer and the coffe maker at the same time the light in the whole room went out/tripped. But they fixed it right away.I will surely do more trips with this tour company. Thanks for the fun and the joy we shared together.
The tour was better than I expected. The tour guide spoke chinese mainly but I knew that so I was prepared. If you just want a sample of Canada for cheap then I would recommend this tour. The hotels were decent enough but nothing to write home about. Be prepared for all the fees like mandatory service fee plus all kinds of conversion fee and canadian tax, parking fee(yes parking fee!!) etc. My itinirary was reversed without notification and the bus was one hour late the date of pick up other than that it was pretty good.
I liked this tour very much. Prior to booking the tour I was concerned with how the bus ride would be. My advice is try to bring your own movies onto the bus. The bus ride was a lot easier than I thought it would be. The tour guide Wendy and the Driver Peter were very good and I was simply amazed at how much of Canada we got to see in only four days. The price is good and the service is very good. This was really a bargain and gave us memories that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend this tour and Gotobus.com
The tour is excellent. the bus is very comfortable and has a dvd player. The tour guide Wang is good. He is helpful. he speaks English and Chinese. His English is serviceable. The hotels are exceptionable for the price. The bus always stops by Chinese restaurants but there are alternatives located close by. Overall it was worth it.
Faye was our tour guide, her sophisticated manner lead the tour traveling smoothly and timely. Since she had excellent fluency in languages she could introduce the attractions well. She managed the unexpected events very well. After the tour we did not miss any attractions on the itinerary. Thank you tn everyone on the bus, especially Faye and the driver Gorge.
This trip was one to never forget. There were nonstop activities throughout and the tour guide, Mei Mei, was delightful. I met get great friends on the tour and really had a great time! For the price, you just cant beat it. I plan to try the LA tour next ;-) Thank you GOTOBUS for the good times!
4 day tour to Canada was excellent. Guide (Faye) and Driver were very good. Hotels were an excellent value. Felt that the tour of Corning Glass was too rushed and could be omitted and use the time elsewhere.
We have recently returned from the 4 day Canada tour and we absolutely loved it. It was great value for money. The hotels we stayed in were of good quality and May, who was our tour guide was fantastic. She was very professional and informative and also good fun. Our driver was also excellent We would highly recomend this tour. Thanks for a great 4 days
All in all very good value for the price! Feedback to Tour Operator: I would skip Montreal as we only went to Olympic Stadium and 1 church but didn't see anything of the city. Or: Skip Olympic Stadium and do city tour instead. Allow more time in Ottawa (only 30min stop) Hotels were great (exc. bed bugs at Radisson Toronto) Guides (Sandy and May) were very friendly and very willing to keep everybody happy. Some people would have wanted more information on the attractions. Provide driver and guides with exact driving instructions. Lost our way and lost a little time. Give people time to experience attractions and cities on their own (for those who want). Despite the big group (51 passengers) it was a great experience! Thanks!
The tour to Canada was great! We did so much in four days and it wasn't tiring or too much driving at all. Things were very well spaced out. They managed to take us to most of the best attractions in a convenient way. Our hotels were all great too. Our tour guide, Angie was very patient and sweet and was always ready to help answer our questions and take care of whatever we needed. Gotobus.com is great and I have recommended it to a lot of people.
We came back last April 8,2010 from 4 days Canada tour with my husband and 3 boys and all enjoyed a lot. This is our 1st time to experience and we liked it specially we had good, friendly, understanding tourist guide Wendy Wen and her assistant and a excellent driver Marcus they very good. When I go to tour again we want to be with Wendy. We had nice hotel but my concern is the hotel we went in Montreal its nice but there is no water fountain or vending machine inside the hotel nor anybody in the reception area where to ask since my boys are hungry and thirsty in the middle of the night that we did not anticipate or else we should buy something before we check in other than that everything is great.
I would just like to say that my boyfriend, daughter and I just came back from the 4 day tour of Canada and we could not have asked for a better tour guide than Wendy Wen! She was absolutely informative, on point and very friendly. The driver Marcus was also great. We actually came into this trip with low expectations but we were blown away with the great customer service they provided. The only things I would definitely change are to have a variety of food choices, arrive at the hotel a little earlier and provide more rest time. But all in all, we enjoyed our trip. Thank you so much!!!
