Day 1

After pickup in Ho Chi Minh City, we will drive to Tay Ninh, a city near the border with Cambodia, to visit the Cao Dai Temple. Cao Dai is a hybrid of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Christianity. We will attend a midday mass here before enjoying lunch. Then, we will visit the Cu Chi Tunnels, located just outside of Ho Chi Minh City, to learn about the fight for Vietnamese independence. We can sample some foods that would have been eaten by guerilla fighters. Afterwards, we will return to the hotel.

Tay Ninh, Vietnam

Tay Ninh is a provincial city in south-western Vietnam. The city is most famous for being the home of the Cao Dai religion, an indigenous Vietnamese faith that includes the teachings of the major world religions.

Cao Dai Holy See

Cao Dai is a religion native to Vietnam, and the city of Tay Ninh is its center. This temple, built in 1926, contains administrative offices, residences for officials, and even a hospital that specializes in traditional Vietnamese herbal medicine.
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh City, also known by its former name of Saigon, is the most populous city in Vietnam. It is the most visited city in Vietnam, with around 6.3 million visitors in 2017.

Cu Chi Tunnels

Located a short distance outside Ho Chi Minh City, this large network of underground tunnels played an important role in the famous Tet Offensive executed by the North Vietnamese army during the Vietnam War.
