This morning, we visit the Pearl Harbor National Monument, which commemorates the Japanese surprise attack on U.S. forces on December 7, 1941. As part of the tour, we will view a video presentation of authentic footage from that infamous day; afterwards, we will board a Navy launch vessel for a short ride to the Arizona Memorial, which was built over the remains of the submerged battleship. Next we’ll take in the sights of Honolulu city, including Hawaii’s State Capitol Building; Washington Place, famous for its Greek Revival architecture and home of Hawaii’s governor; the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific; Chinatown; Iolani Palace, the official residence of Hawaii’s monarchy; and the statue of King Kamehameha I, first king of the united Hawaiian islands. This afternoon, you are free to relax at the hotel or explore the local area at your leisure.
