This morning, we visit the Pearl Harbor National Monument, which commemorates the Japanese surprise attack on U.S. forces on December 7, 1941. As part of the tour, we will view a video presentation of authentic footage from that infamous day; afterwards, we will board a Navy launch vessel for a short ride to the Arizona Memorial, which was built over the remains of the submerged battleship. Next we’ll take in the sights of Honolulu city, including Hawaii’s State Capitol Building; Washington Place, famous for its Greek Revival architecture and home of Hawaii’s governor; the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific; Chinatown; Iolani Palace, the official residence of Hawaii’s monarchy; and the statue of King Kamehameha I, first king of the united Hawaiian islands.
