Summer and Fall. Enjoy outdoor fun from early morning to late evening. Take an Emerald Bay cruise on the M.S. Dixie; soak up the sun at Baldwin Beach; helicopter over of Emerald Bay, fit in 18 holes at Edgewood, hike D.L. Winter and Spring. From November to early April, snow sports are the main Lake Tahoe attraction. Heavenly Mountain Resort is the activity center for South Lake Tahoe. • Lake Tahoe, NV

The scenic Lake Tahoe nestled in the crook of California is the largest alpine lake in North America. In addition to being a wonderful place to swim, fish, and boat, Lake Tahoe features winter activities like skiing and snowboarding.

      Emerald Bay State Park

This state park lies along the shores of Lake Tahoe in California, preserving the bay of the same name, which contains Lake Tahoe's only island, Fannette Island. It covers a total of 1,533 acres.

      Balancing Rock

Balancing Rock is not going to be there forever. You can see it has a "waist" between its top and bottom, and natural erosion is slowly but surely putting that waist on a diet. Some day, it will lose its balance, and tumble to the depths below. But you'll have that cool photo showing that you "held the thing up" when it needed you most!

      Baldwin Beach

Baldwin Beach stretches for a half mile, with breathtaking views of the Sierra Nevada mountains soaring in the distance. Unlike other Tahoe beaches, it great for swimming. There's also a nice paved trail that runs through the forest nearby; it's great for walking, running, or biking.

      Heavenly Mountain Resort

It's a skier's paradise - topping off at over 10,000 feet of elevation and boasting the biggest snow-making system in the West, but it's also an amazing year-round place to find the perfect adventure for you

      Truckee River

The Truckee River supplies essential water to the cities of Reno and Sparks and there's amazing fly fishing to be had (native Lahontan Cutthroat Trout swim alongside brown and rainbow trout). And there's fun whitewater rafting, which is actually tame enough for the whole family.

      Vikingsholm

It's a magnificent 38-room stone castle. You'll learn how workers used local timber for the building's ornate carvings. You'll see the locally-quarried stone which forms the building's impressive walls, towers, and turret. Check out the amazing sod roofs-with living grass and flowers!
