In the morning, we will head to the Rialto Bridge and walk through the winding Venetian streets and over its tiny bridges. In the tour, the local English-speaking guide will teach guests the history and culture of Venice. Then we will visit Marco Polo's house and hear his tales. After we ambling through quaint piazzas including the lively Campo SS Giovanni e Paolo and Campo Santa Maria Formosa, we will visit the Bridge of Sighs and St. Mark's Square. We may enter St. Mark's Basilica with the skip-the-line access to view the perfect blending of eastern and western design. Then, we will head to Doge's Palace, former home to the Duke of Venice and the city's courts. Guests may enjoy some free time here.
In the afternoon, guests will board a water taxi across the lagoon to the timeless islands of Murano and Burano. When we arrive at the Murano, we will wander on the island before continuing to the next island. We will take water taxi to the next island - Burano and take some leisure time to explore it. Afterwards, this tour ends.
Venice, Italy
This city off the coast of northeast Italy is famous the world over for its many canals. It is actually a chain of 118 islands linked together by bridges and waterways. Venice is world-renown for its art and beauty.
Bridge of Sighs
This gorgeous white-limestone bridge in Venice gets its name from an almost ironically bleak place: In the 1800s, the windows looking out from the enclosed bridge's interior were the last views of sublime Venice convicts would see before their imprisonment.
Saint Mark's Basilica
The Basilica Cattedrale Patriarcale di San Marco is the most famous church in Venice and is known for its unique and ornate Italo-Byzantine architecture that includes five hemispherical domes and fine patterns. It was built in the 11th century AD.
Doge's Palace
This palace was once the residence of the supreme authority of the Republic of Venice. Built in a Venetian Gothic style, the construction plans began in 1340, and the building was completed in 1424.
Piazza San Marco
The Piazza San Marco is the largest and primary public area in Venice. The structures surrounding it date back more than one thousand years, although the vast majority are from Renaissance times. It has been called "the drawing room of Europe."
Murano
This small series of islands within the Venetian Lagoon is connected by canals and footbridges. It is famous for its vibrantly colorful houses and the signature glass manufactured on the islands.
Burano
This island in the Venetian Lagoon is best known for the vibrantly painted colors of its homes. Much like nearby Venice, Burano is a city of canals.
