Today's sightseeing tour will see you dive straight into the magic of Beijing, kicked off in the world's largest public square, Tiananmen Square. Claiming an incredible 440,000 square meters of space and flanked by Soviet style buildings, the square was the brainchild of Chairman Mao and flexes some serious Communist design ideals. Next up, you'll head over to the UNESCO-listed Forbidden City, the largest palace complex in the world featuring courtyards, palaces, pavilions and gardens all ringed by 3.5km of scarlet colored citadel walls. Take your time exploring this impeccably preserved complex, imagining what life would have been like for the 24 emperors who ruled here during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This morning, choose from two Choice Experiences: wander through White Emperor City, where ancient rulers and poets once soaked in epic views of Qutang Gorge, or take on the hike up Chijia Mountain for a jaw-dropping panorama of the Qutang Gorge. Back on board, cruise through Qutang Gorge’s towering cliffs, past the misty peaks of Wu Gorge, and into the dramatic landscapes of Xiling Gorge. - YANGTZE RIVER CRUISE: There is a flat service charge of approximately RMB$150 (subject to change) per guest to be paid at the start of the cruise to cover services provided by waiters, housekeeping staff and porters. This service charge does not include a gratuity for the Cruise Director, Local Guides and any additional special services which can be offered at the guest¿s discretion. The cruise portion is operated by Victoria Cruises sailing on Victoria Katarina.
- INTERNAL FLIGHTS: This tour has an included internal flight; any excess luggage charges are at your own expense.
- LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE: Each guest is permitted one bag with maximum dimensions of 58 linear inches (147 cm), the total of length, width, and height - and a weight not exceeding 44 lbs (20 kg). Guests may also bring one personal item, such as a purse, backpack, or similarly sized item that fits comfortably under the seat in front of them or the overhead compartment weighing no more than 15 lbs (7kg).
- IMPORTANT: Minivans or minibuses may also be used depending on the group size. Motorcoaches without toilet facilities are used; the Tour Director will ensure to arrange regular stops on longer journeys to ensure guests' comfort throughout the tour.
- GROUND HANDLER: This trip is operated by Beijing Central Tours & Safari.
- ITINERARY CHANGE: On Day 6 the internal flight from Xi'an to Chongqing has been replaced by a train ride. Travellers luggage will travel with them on the first-class train journey.
