This was an excellent tour, highly recommended. Allan was a wonderful and informative tour guide with a good sense of humor as well. The other participants were friendly and respectful. The hotels we stayed at were very comfortable, most had exercise rooms and pools, which were great to have. I traveled with my two children, 20 and 22 years of age, and they both really enjoyed the trip as well. We would definitely go on another tour with TakeTours.
This is one of the best organized tours I have ever traveled. The tour guide Allen is very cool, knowledgeable and made this tour successful and enjoyable. The driver is also the best. The whole tour was planned accurately so that we visited every attraction . Yellowstone is one of the best tourist attractions . I recommend that going by this bus tour would be the most efficient , economical and comfortable than driving all the way. Note : The only thing I found inconvenient was that, most days I had to buy and carry breakfast or lunch the previous day itself. While I could understand that this is to manage the time, it would have been better if they had stopped at a fast food. Thanks.
Well organized, always on time. The tour Guide, Allan Wong, is a funny and professional guide. He make my vacation and for the whole group. He gave all the information for each place or monument with his words and after whist a pamphlet . Accomodation good enough. Transportation. Safe. Experienced driver. Itinerary. Well planned.
This was an amazing tour, Our Tour Guide Frankie and Driver Don were informative and helpful. We saw so many places and experienced so much in such a short time. The starts were not as early as first thought and the scenery and friendships made will stay with us for years to come.
I chose this tour to do with my 12 year-old son based on previous reviews, the itinerary, and destinations. We were NOT disappointed! This is an economical tour and as such the restaurants/motels were in line. Note:The Timbers (Denver) and Roadway Inn (Salt Lake City) were sub-par (clean but in severe need of renovations) and the Comfort Inn in Cody didn't have elevators (could be an issue for less mobile folks, or if you have lots of luggage). Enough time in all locations, except Salt Lake City Capitol and Temple Square (only had 25 mins in each--need 45). Everything is in Mandarin/English--movies and music are offered on long rides. Pam our driver was GREAT! Alan was efficient but brusk--a true task master ensuring everyone was on time. Excellent Price/Value--and unless you want to drive, this is a great way to see everything we did!
This was a great tour. The sites chosen were excellent and the tour guide was very considerate of all people on board - not easy given 50 or so people from different countries! The places he chose for meals were excellent and economically priced, so well done! The accommodation was very good 3 of the 5 nights, and basic and clean on the other nights. The itinerary and pace of tour was good as was the time allowed at each site. I would certainly recommend this tour as value for money, and a great time!
I only put 4 stars because there's always room for improvement, even though the tour was awesome! We had used TakeTours before for our trip to Canada, so we sort of knew what to expect. This is certainly not a luxury trip, but you'll get to see a lot in a short period of time. We didn’t get to spend much time at each site, but considering the amount of sites that we saw, time and distance covered, it’s well-justified. There is no fine dining either, but we were OK with the food choices that we were given (Chinese buffets, Mexican restaurants, pizzerias, McDonalds, Wendy, KFC, etc). Our wonderful tour guide Rebeca and John, the driver, were very professional. My husband and I had a great time and would certainly recommend this tour to our friends.
I totally recommend this tour. it was amazing, fantastic and awesome! But I have to say it is
improper for some people, who want to take time for stay for each place because this trip has many places to visit, so the time is limited and of course you will feel tired even you did not drive lol.
The fun begins at the main lobby of the Denver Airport. It was 6 wonderful days of an extremely well planned, well-orchestrated itinerary. There is no way you can see so many beautiful places if you planned a trip this way on your own. Make sure you are on time and you get little extra perks - like we got a whole hour to walk around Vail, CO. Totally worth it!
The accommodations are very decent for the price - clean, comfortable albeit a little old. be prepared for upgrades!
The tour guide Frank Chen is very informative and funny!
All in all a very good experience. I would definitely recommend this and look forward to more tours!
Tour was organized and cost effective. It's a budget tour - to me that is a good thing. Supermarkets, Chinese buffets, fast food and restaurant choices were ideal. Great hotels. Indoor pools at most. Scenery was beyond magnificent. Have to wake up early but you certainly see so much beauty. I was pleased. Barry still learning English and Pam, the driver, was great/friendly. Tour is in Chinese and English. I do recommend sign in airport in ENGLISH!
The days were early, long, and late but filled with wonderful sights. The distances between locations are far... glad I didn't have to drive like I originally planned. Considering all we saw, I think we had adequate time at each stop. The Ramadas were fine, but the White Buffalo was a disaster. Our guide Franky and driver Rich were great. The tour is a real value for the money... we were tired by the time we were done, so we rested with friends in Denver before returning to Pennsylvania via ABQ.
Our tour guide, Jack, and driver, John, did a great job. Expect to spend long days on the bus. We would start out each day between 5:30-6:30AM and end the day between 8-9:00PM. Rest breaks were 30 minutes. Lunch and dinner were 1 hour. We spent 1 hour at Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore and Devils Tower. There were several stops throughout Yellowstone. 1 hour at The Teton Lodge. There is absolutely no leisure time to shop or explore any of the towns you stop at. If the wife and I were to do something like this again we would do a longer trip that the days on the bus weren't so long, and allowed more leisure time to explore.
Just finished the tour. Had Chester as a tour guide and Jim as a bus driver. Both were very knowledgeable and funny. Loved the parks. Hotels were decent. We were very pleased overall with this trip. What a great experience for the price.
It is not easy trip and not for everybody. I can say, it was just an informative tour, rather then enjoyable. The main time we spent on the bus. We visited a lot of unique places, but stops for visitation was very short 20-40 minutes, and then again 2-3 hours driving.
The bus usually leave hotels around 5:30AM and gets back around 7:00-7:30PM. We were not allowed to use the bathroom on the bus unless it was an "emergency". It was a stop around 11:00AM-12:00PM near the cheapest fast-food restaurant or just a gas station to buy snacks and use the bathroom. Next time, we were able to eat after 7:30PM.
I would recommend to reduce the number of place visited in 6 days, think about the stops where people can eat properly and increase the stops time of sightseeing. We now need a vacation after this vacation.
I highly recommend this tour! Chester, our tour guide, and Bruce, our bus driver, were great! The accommodations were adequate with the exception of the White Buffalo. This hotel is very dated. There are no elevators to the second floor and the staff was not very pleasant or friendly. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this tour the sites are amazing!
We absolutely loved the tour! Leo was our tour guide and Rich was our driver. They were both fantastic. The entire trip was extremely organized, timely, and there were no hidden surprises/fees. Lots of driving, but that was expected. You can't beat seeing 6 states in 6 days. Rooms were fine. Nothing special but nothing dingy. I'd recommend this to everyone!
We went on a 6 days tour during middle of June. We get to spend about an hour or so in certain attractions. Some places we wished we had more time and less on certain places. The itinerary stated Delicate Arch in Arches National Park, but we didn't visit the Delicate Arch which is the most popular arch. The driving is long. Bus driver and tour guide are very professional. The bus usually leave hotels around 6:30AM and gets back around 7:00-7:30PM. Only 3 Ramada hotels provided free breakfast. Lunch and dinner are on your own. Overall, if you don't like to drive long distances yourself, this is the best tour to take.
The Yellowstone National Park, Red Rock Park, the National Arches Park- are all worth the visit. The bus was very comfortable, and Rich, the driver, did a very excellent job. Unfortunately our tour guide couldn't speak English very well, so he mostly spoke Chinese. The hotels were okay but the hotel locations were awful, in the middle of nowhere, so all of us couldn't find any decent place to eat. But besides that, the trip was good and we were satisfied with itinerary.
This has been a most rewarding experience, if a little exhausting. We took it (from France) because we were visiting relatives in Denver and wanted to see as much as possible while in the area. The tour was extremely well organised and the schedule strictly respected. The sites themselves were spectacular and the atmosphere among passengers and the guide and driver were excellent.
It's a very good tour for nature lovers. The Yellowstone National Park, Red Rock Park, The National Arches Park- are all worth the visit. Allen, the guide, and Rich, the driver, did a very excellent job. The hotels too were okay. Enjoyed the trip too much.
We just returned from this informative tour. The sites were excellent and we had terrific weather with the exception of one afternoon (at Mt. Rushmore) of full-on rain and thunderstorms. Our guide Frankie, was fine. He must learn, however, to be firmer with late passengers. Joking and making people sing is not a "punishment" for rude lateness - especially when it is the same people over and over again. It's a sightseeing trip; the bus windows should be cleaned every day. Because we never slowed down nor stopped for wildlife viewing, it was a challenge to actually see (much less try to take photos) of the creatures along the way. The motels were adequate - mostly old Ramadas - nothing special, but wifi was included. The food is daily = ON YOUR OWN (most of the breakfasts were included but not all). Stops at lunch were at fast food places - boring after a while, and there was usually a market so that folks could purchase snacks for the bus or for later in the evening. Seats on the bus were rotated every 2 days to give people a chance to be "front", "middle" and "back". The hours on the bus are long, long, long. Breaks varied from every 2 hours to every 2 and a half hours. We were not allowed to use the bathroom on the bus unless it was an "emergency". One unattended child was locked in the bathroom for about 5-10 minutes pounding and screaming from the inside while the guide screamed back at him to stop screaming...quite comical, if not loud! Old Faithful was anything but faithful....16 minutes late. That in itself is noteworthy. The major road to the south was closed, so we had a detour and missed Grand Tetons - that's a chance you take. Now it may seem as if my comments are all on the negative; it's not meant to be that way. The scenery was stunning. Ours was the first tour bus to enter Yellowstone from the east; we hit Yellowstone Lake while it was still frozen: stunningly beautiful! Other natural beauties included Devil's Tower and Arches National Park. Man-made places such as Denver's capital building and Utah's capital building paled in comparison. Cultural differences between the mostly Chinese passengers and the fewer English-speaking passengers were minimal. Most of the people got along fine (again, you never know who you'll meet on a bus tour). We all shared a few words of each others' languages and laughed at the struggles. Would I recommend this trip to a friend? maybe...it depends on the friend.
Highly recommended! All the national interests in one tour, I couldn't ask for more! Pam, our bus driver, is a very nice person, pleasant, makes the long drive in between attractions, bearable. So, what are you waiting for? Book this tour ASAP!
My husband and I just returned from a six day Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore National Parks trip. Our bus driver, Allen, was the best. Kevin, our tour guide was able to show us the best places to take pictures and places to eat. I would recommend this trip.
The wife and I just completed the 6 day tour from August 23 - 28. Gary Zhao was our tour guide, and Lyndy was our driver (with Navigator bus company). Gary and Lyndy were a great team and helped ensure a nice, safe, and enjoyable, albeit slightly grueling trip for all of us. Be ready for a lot of bus riding, as it is 2500 miles in 6 days, but they did a great job doing the hauling and logistics that we did not want to do on our own. Gary was on his 100th tour of this circuit and was both friendly and very knowledgeable about the circuit's numerous interest points and spoke in both Mandarin and English for our bilingual (though 90% Chinese) group. He was also upfront about any additional trip costs, and provided practical restaurants, food stops, and washroom tips. Lyndy was a trooper and took care of a leaking front tire with an extra 2 hour maintenance run on an early Monday morning. She did a lot of good driving over a grueling schedule. She and Gary both made up the lost time with some schedule adjustments and made a point to get all of the tour highlights in despite the timing setback. Hotels and food were adequate and basic (a couple of Chinese buffets, and the balance American local; also do not expect anything fancy on the hotels), and no complaints given the great value offered by the overall package, and the focus to have the tourists see a lot in 6 days. Overall, it was a wonderful trip and possibly the most economic we have ever taken. The schedule can go from 6:00am to 9:00pm, so be wary of bringing little kids or seniors that may not be able to handle that. We had a good, prompt group that really had no issues with the schedule. Thank you to TakeTours for pulling this trip together for us.
Trip was wonderful. Gary, the tour guide knows what he is talking about, and is knowledgeable. For the price, and guide, and yes, Lindy the driver, I think this was one on the best tours, and could not have been without them. Thank you!
As an English-Only speaker I had reservations about this bi-lingual tour. I'm very happy I chose this trip and wasn't bothered by the multiple languages at all. The tour guide had over 70 tours of experience and really knew a lot of facts and details about each stop. Great tour!!
All the national parks were unfortunately closed during the trip due to Government shutdown. In spite of that it turned out to be an amazing trip thanks to Chuck Barry, our driver's patience to drive through all the interesting places and our guide Tim's enthusiasm to cover whatever he can. I just won't recommend this tour to my friends but I will take this tour again next year.
The tour and accommodation was very good, and Would recommend the tour to anyone wanting to see these beautiful places! I would travel with the company again!
We just finished a 6-day Yellowstone tour. Wonderful!
The tour-guide Jason and driver Julian are awesome! Jason arranges the tour line is very special compare with other groups. He is very helpful and very smart. We can see the beautiful scene at right time and take lots of nice pictures. Even he arranges beautiful music at the right time and right location. Jason is not only a tour-guide; he can pull out your feelings to match with the nature. Living Yellowstone! Wonderful Trip! And Awesome Tour-Team! Thanks Jason and Julian.

We just came back from the tour. We had a wonderful tour guide - Jason, he was very friendly, patiently, and well educated about the locations we went to. We never had trouble understanding him, even when he had to speak 2 languages. He is a dedicated guide, willing to go the extra step to help others. Our driver Julian was also very good. He was always doing his best to get us somewhere quickly and safely. He helped load and unload our luggage at every stop. The only suggestions they could charge more for the accommodations so we could have better hotels. Other than that this was a great experience.
We just got back from this tour.It was great. Our tour guide Hubert was very friendly. We hadn't any difficulty with language. We definitely recommend this tour.
we just came back 7/12-7/17/2013 six days tour and over all it was very good.you see so many places in such a short time.
Bus was very good the leg room was more than normal buses that made our journey very comfortable. Our tour guide Laslie Lee was outstanding even though most of the passenger were chinees. He was saying everything in English and chiness.our driver Leeroy was also very good.only regrets is that two hotel(Dude Motel-Montana and Country Inn-Colorado spring)was ok otherwise Denver and Saltlake city was in Mariott which was very good and daysinn in Gillet was acceptable.
Overall Tour is excellent and very good value.
We took this tour last month and loved it. Our tour guide was Alan, who was very knowledgeable and funny. Our driver, Paul, was also very nice. We loved both of them. The itinerary was great- we had ample time in each destination. I was worried that we weren't going to be able to see enough of Yellowstone in such a short amount of time but we saw everything I wanted to see there! The one thing we didn't appreciate was the fact that since 95% of the people on the bus were Chinese, our guide was speaking Chinese the entire trip too. The company did not tell us that this was going to be the case, which was a little frustrating because we spent a lot of money for an American/English tour. It was especially frustrating that the guide spoke Chinese first when pointing out sites or landmarks, because by the time he said it in English, we were past it. He also played Chinese movies and music, which the few Americans didn't think was fair. We understand that he has to accommodate everyone, but it was completely unfair to the Americans because we didn't sign up for a Chinese tour, we signed up for an American tour. And like I said, we were never even told that most of the tour was going to revolve around the Chinese in case we wanted to change our minds. However with all of that being said, the trip was still great and we still loved the guide. It should just be made clear to the customers who are spending $600 each that they could very well be the only Americans on the bus and have the whole trip be spoken in Chinese because I know a lot of people might let that ruin the whole trip for them.
3 of us ages 64, 70 & 73 just took this tour. We all felt it was a tremendous value. So many fantastic sights in a short amount of time. Thanks to Leslie who seemed to really enjoy the children who were present and "Captain Don" for getting us to the destinations safely and on time.
My son and I just took this trip 6/8/13 and what a tour it was! We traveled hundreds of miles, made many stops, saw so many wonderful sites, while learning, seeing and doing so many things we could have never seen by drivng ourselves. Roger, our tour guide was quite entertaining, very educated and kept the tours moving. His guide in training, Jack, was also quite helpful and concerned everyone was having a good time. Thanks to Captain Jimmy who got us to all our stops on time, safe and sound. This was a fast passed tour with long days traveling but feel I got my money's worth. The only complant is some of hotels which I didn't feel were quite up to par for the tour. Would have liked more 'free' time in the evenings and stops a bit longer to eat but then we wouldn't have seen so many beautiful sites!
We just came back from the tour. We had a wonderful tour guide - Roger, he was very friendly, and well educated about the locations we went to. We never had trouble understanding him, even when he had to speak 2 languages. He is a dedicated guide, willing to go the extra step to help others. Our driver Jimmy, was also very good. He was always doing his best to get us somewhere quickly and safely. He helped load and unload our luggage at every stop.
The only suggestions I have would be to make the tour longer, stretching it to 7 or 8 days, so we could see the locations more. I also wished they could charge more for the accommodations so we could have better hotels.
Other than that this was a great experience.
Excellent trip my husband and I really enjoyed it, we were made to feel welcomed by the other passengers I even exchanged contact info with some. Driver was captain Peter guide was Roger, superb, professional, and friendly I'm already booking my next tour for next year God willing, can't wait
I took the tour in August 2011 with my wife and my father. It was exeptionally good. Our tour leader, Wesley, was very nice and managed the tour very well. There are a lot of places that you would see in a very short time, so you spend a lot of time in the bus. The bus was very spacious and pretty comfortable. It was not jammed with too many extra seats. And of course it is really cheap compared to all the places you visit. The hotels are fine. Some of them provide breakfast. If you want to see all these wonderful places and share it with a nice group, the best decistion is to take the tour. Car rentals are pretty expensive in Denver, and for a 2500 miles drive, you would need to pay a lot for gass and accomodation. Take the tour.
My wife and I took the 06-30-2012 to 7-05-2012 6-day Yellowstone tour from Denver. We have a good time during this trip.
First thing first, the itinerary is well organized. We traveled more than 2,000 miles in 5 states and visited a lot of places including breath-taking scenery in Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Although we spent most of the time on the bus in the first 2 days, there were stops that we can relax. It would be nice if we could have 1-2 more place to visit on the last day( only visit Glenwood hot spring), but it's understandable because they don't want us to miss the flight.
The tour guide, Frank, is very knowledgeable and helpful. Not only he is informative on every attraction but he also knows where the good spots are. Moreover, he was so humble and took a good care of us.
Most of the hotels are ok except a night in Yellowstone. We were expecting to stay in Yellowstone/Canyon lodge which located in the park. Instead, we were put in Dude motel(outside the park) near the West entrance. On the bright side, we can browse and shop in the small town of Montana.
Lastly, people who traveled with us are nice. They're usually on or before time so it makes this trip efficiency. With so many sites to see for the price, it's hard to beat this tour.
It was a wonderful trip. I never thought we'd be able to see so many sights in 6 days. We were on the bus a lot, but there were frequent stops and beautiful scenery most of the way. Mark was the best guide, took wonderful care of us, and provided great information. Fred was a pro at guiding our big bus in small spaces and on the highways. The accommodations were very good, and there were usually several options of places to eat. I made several new friends and would recommend the tour to anyone wanting to see these beautiful places! I would travel with the company again!
We (three couple) just got back home from the 26-05-2012 to 31-05-2012 tour of Denver to Yellowstone, Mt Rushmore and Arches National Park. This was our first time taking a bus tour.
This tour was a real pleasure.
Allen is our guide. He was very informed of the regions we traveled through. The tour route was well planned and executed in a timely fashion.
John is our bus driver. He drove very safely and efficiently. The bus was very clean and quite comfortable.
Over all lodging were good, only the lodge in West Yellowstone had no hot water. The lodge in Salt Lake City was the best.
We really enjoyed the scenic tour and recommend to anyone who wants to see the best of America's beauty. A special word of thanks to tour guide Allen and driver John for a making our vacation so memorable.
I just got back home form the 09-27-2011 to 10-04-2011 tour of Denver to Yellowstone, Mt Rshmore and Arches National Park. This was my first time taking a bus tour and with Harry as guide and Armondo as bus driver it was just GREAT. Harry was very informed of the regions we travelled through and Armondo drove very safely and both were very gracious and curtious. Some lodging was a little poor however over all they were good. The lodging in Salt Lake City was the best. The sites were just wondeful. I will take more trips with you in the future.
We enjoyed the tour v. much. Both Kevin and Roger were super. Roger's info. was unique and greatly appreciated.Only
Franklin Hotel in Deadwood could have been better maintained and the staff more courteous.
We had very safe and comfy driver Kevin and very cultivated and funny guide Roger. First time I'm taking a tour (I usually prefer to organize my trip by myself, but I was missing time for this one), and I will do it again with this company! It was fabulous!!!!
Trip was fun, price was great, and guide was knowledgeable. Would prefer more time in Yellowstone and less or none in Salt Lake City. Also, one hotel had no hot water and bus broke down on Day 6. We missed some destinations as a result. Day 7 turned into a mad dash to get to Denver airport on time.
My family and I have been on many tours but, unanimously, this was by far the best one. The tour guide, Roger, made the experience an unforgettable one. He was highly informational; literally a walking textbook. His humor was hilarious, even after a long day of trekking. He pointed out unique vantage points for pictures and voluntarily took pictures of tour members (He is a great photographer!). He cared for his tour group very much and did everything to make them happy. The driver Mauricio was very nice and a highly skilled professional. He navigated the bumpy of the West effectively and efficiently. In our upcoming national park trips (i.e. Yosemite, Zion), we hope to have both Roger and Mauricio again!!
My girlfriend and I took this tour from August 6-12, 2011. The trip was very well organized and our driver Kevin and tour guide Mark were top notch. We were amazed at how much information Mark knew off the top of his head about all the sites and states we visited. The bus was very clean and quite comfortable. A couple of the hotel / motel rooms were what you would expect for the price of this trip, and a couple were surprisingly above what you would expect for the price. There was usually several food options for lunch and dinner. We had a great time and would definitely take another tour.
I took 35 members of my singles club on this tour from July 2-9, 2011. It was very well organized and we all enjoyed the spectacular scenery of the sights we visited. Our tour guide, Roger and driver, Mauricio were both exceptional.
Since this was over a holiday weekend, some of the sights were closed, and members of the group felt this should have been investigated ahead of time and we should have been informed before we left of changes in itinerary.
Most of the hotels were acceptable for the amount of money charged, but some were sub-standard, with air-conditioning and other things not working or missing.
It was pretty grueling to be up so early and get back so late in the day. Would have been nice to have a little more down time.
All in all, it was a fabulous experience and I think everyone was glad they went.
Yellowstone Park tour was a real pleasure. The program was rich and very interesting. Mauricio driver from Salt Lake City - a very professional, expert in his field. Tour guide Larry from Los Angeles, erudite, professional, polite, very organized. This is very important for us because we are involved in ethnic tourism industry and are well aware of possible problems. Big thank you to all! Good luck!
I took this tour from June 15 thru June21. Overall the tour schedule and their professionalism were excellent. Our tour guide Harry and driver Scott/Nathan were very friendly and helpful. I reserved the tour under gobus but real tour is operated by Segul bus tour.
I have few minor suggestion to make all experience little less stressful.
1. On Devner airport, there is no visible sign of gobus/taketour operator and it is confusing. they should have a larger banner like gobus/taketour/segul etc. outof couple of
tour operators you have to find yourself which group you belong.
There is only 1 airport pickup at 11:30. though it is not a big deal but I was under impression that someone will be waiting for me at baggage claim for pick-up right a way. My plane landed at 7:50 AM and I didnot have a clue that I have to wait 3 hours near pickup area.
On Yellowstone overnight stay was in cabins. few people including myself, didnot have any hot-water and the temp was 35-40 degrees.
Overall I am very satisfied and will take the tour in future.
My wife and mother-in-law and myself had a great time. Everything was well planned our driver and guide were excellent and the weather was great. We saw so many sites in the short time to last a life time. You need to take this tour and the price was excellent for what was provided. Thanks to all.
Me and my husband took this trip on june 8,2011.It was well worth the money. The guide and the driver were very friendly and cordial young men. They were very knowledgable too.The tour route was well planned and executed in a timely fashion. Our best compliments to the tour company and the people who organised it.
Absolutely great tour for the price .Very well organized and Planned . I would recommend this to every one . Hotels are very good we could cover all the locations as mentioned in the tour plan.
My sister and I really enjoyed the scenic tour and recommend to anyone who wants to see the best of America's beauty. The tour far exceeded our expectations. A special word of thanks to tour guide Larry and driver Kevin for a making our vacation (Sept. 4-10) so memorable.
This tour indeed is a very good tour . Starting at Den airport everything is on time very well planned fully punctual. Hotels provided are very good. Got ample time to spend at the tourist spots and took lots of pictures. The crew members are very helpful.Travelling with a team is always fun and we cherish the memories .I recommend this tour to everyone.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience taking this tour. We were amazed by the wonder of Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and the Kennecott open pit copper mine; really enjoyed the beauty of Yellowstone, Grand Teton Mountains and Arches National Park and got very excited watching our bus being blocked by black bears at Bear Country USA and by bison at Yellowstone Park. Driving through the big sky states was another eye-opening experience.
Not only we saw those natural wonders, we have also made new friends. Moving together with 50 other people from all over the country for 7 days, we had a chance to step out our daily social circle to meet different people --retired seniors, big families and young college students. All those encounters made our experience richer.
The customer service was good at gotobus.com. The website is well designed; booking was smooth, although we paid more than other people who booked earlier. I have asked several questions regarding this tour before and after booking through chat, they were quite responsive and responsible.
The bus was good, seats were comfortable. There was a small restroom at the back of the bus, but it was seldom used because the bus stopped every 2 hours or so for breaks. The hotels were clean. Many of them offered free WIFI and continental breakfasts. Some of them had swimming pools where kids can have some fun. The stay at Canyon lodge inside Yellowstone Park was quite an experience. Those log houses were really small and there were no TV, phone or hot water. The shower room wasn’t inviting either. The temperature in the room was hard to adjust too. And there were bison around. It can be quite exciting or frustrating depends on what you are looking for.
Finding a good place to eat was challenging. Half the time we had to settle to fast foods. But we did enjoy a few restaurants along the way, the Samurai Japanese restaurant in Denver for the first night, the China Cafe restaurant in Deadwood city on Day2 and the Chinese lunch buffet at Gillette on the third day. I tried an ELK hamburger for lunch at a steakhouse house at Jackson Hole where our bus stopped on day 5. It wasn’t great.
Traveling 2,400 miles in 7 days was challenging, we had to wake up early every day, sometimes at 5 am. But it was not too bad for us from the east coast. We normally checked in around 8 pm.
The guide was conducted in both English and Chinese because more than half of the guests were Chinese (most of them were from US though). Larry, the guide, was very dedicated and experienced. He always prepared us before we got off the bus. Not only did he tell us the stories of the attractions, but also best places to take pictures. He also explained the things we saw along the way, the states and cities we passed by. All of us were very pleased when he made an unscheduled stop at the Prairie Dog Town just outside of the Devils Tower National Monument upon a request from a boy. Watching hundreds of those cute creatures roaming around in the grass land up-close within a few yards was really a pleasant surprise.
We felt that the schedule can be adjusted so that we can spend more time in Yellowstone and Arches National Park. We could have stayed in or near Yellowstone Park on day 3 by by-passing the Western Museum so that we could in the park at 7 or 8 am instead of 11 am. I’d rather stay at the Hidden Valley in Yellowstone Park watching the wild animals than visit the Utah state capital and the Mormon Temples. It is also possible to extend our stop at the Arches National Park from 2 hours to 5 hours and still make it to Denver airport around 3pm if we hit road a little early and skip the stop at Glenwood Hot Spring on day 7.
The tour's quality is 'OK', but considered a great deal for its price! The tour guide did his job well escorting us around, although his English was sometimes hard to understand. The route is well-executed (comparing with ones that start from the West Coast), and that gives you 'time' to really enjoy the places and attractions!
