Toledo is known as the "Imperial City" for having been the main venue of the court of Charles I, and as the "City of the Three Cultures", having been influenced by a historical co-existence of Christians, Muslims and Jews.
We start the morning with free time to explore. You can fill yours by opting for a guided tour of the Muslim quarter of Albaicin & the Capilla Real, and while you're at it, fill up on some of Granada's incredible food, like its famous Arab pastries. This afternoon we head to Spain's number 1 visited attraction, the Alhambra Palace. We'll discover the breathtaking beauty and history of this Moorish Palace, with its intricate patterns and detailed architecture that will leave you spellbound, and wondering why you haven't been here sooner. To top it off, Alhambra offers the best views of the city. Feel the Spanish rhythm and style by opting for a traditional Flamenco and Sangria night with your Contiki family. Que bueno!

A free day gives you plenty of time to explore all the hotspots including Portugal's Christo Rei (Christ the King), Rossio Square, the Belém District, home to the famous tower of the same name, and feel some Moorish vibes at a monastery where Vasco de Gama's tomb is held.

- START/END TIMES: Trip starts in Madrid at 07:30 and ends in Lisbon at 10:00.
- PRE RECOMMENDED: It is not recommended to book flights arriving on the first day of the trip. Pre night is recommended in Madrid.
- ALHAMBRA: Passport details are mandatory to purchase Alhambra tickets at least 100 days prior to departure. Access to attractions within Alhambra complex, including the Nasrid Palace, is at the discretion of the staff of the Alhambra. Passport details to purchase Alhambra tickets include Passengers Full First, Middle & Last Name, Passport Number and Nationality. Reminder: if there are NO passport details or they are INCORRECT/ INCOMPLETE, there is NO ticket/entrance to the Alhambra. Passenger information must match passport details exactly. Late Bookings inside 3 months: we cannot guarantee entrance, but we will do our absolute best to confirm, as long as we have passport details. If we are unable to secure the full Alhambra visit, there will be no compensation. Please note if we cannot buy Alhambra tickets we will attempt to buy Garden tickets if available. If Garden tickets are not available then we will substitute Alhambra with another site as compensation.
