The trip was very cost-effective. Tour guide was very informative. Tip should be paid in cash. Our hotels rooms were upgraded to deluxe from Day 3. Overall a very good trip with family.
I just returned from this tour and this is what I enjoyed: bus was comfortable and had wifi (but no charging). Driver was really good. Our guide Yinny did a good job, considering there were over 50 people on our tour, and we went to some really busy places, I can't imagine how she was able to keep everyone together and (mostly) on time. Good value for the money spent. All hotels except one (Bybalos) were quite nice. There was a good selection of activities in the tour. Some things I was concerned about: I somehow missed that that English wasn't the first language of the tour so missed quite a bit of the info that was provided about the different places visited. Also, none of the hotels are close to any of the sites (i.e, first two nights were at least a hour away from Manhattan) so no opportunity to do any other night activities (we were hoping to take in a baseball game) unless you're comfortable finding your own way back. We were not provided with any hotel details in advance, which puzzles me and caused some hassle because I took my son with me and needed to take an authorization letter provided by my husband, which means you need to include the hotels visited. We also decided to not participate in some of the tours and that was not well-received by our guide. I do wonder if the company and/or guide was making some extra money on the tours because of this, and also because I noticed there was a price differential between what the tour company was charging, and what the actual price was. An example is that visiting the Met is free, but the tour company charges $25 per person, which is a lot. I also did not appreciate paying the $8/person service fee for the first day as we did not even meet our guide until the second day. Overall the tour was much pricier than I anticipated and really, it would make more sense to include these prices in the up-front fee. I assume that because the tour money was collected in cash that there are taxation reasons for this. Anyway, I'm not sure if I would do this tour again, however we did overall have a really good time.
Awesome to have seen all of these sites in 6 days! Great for the price. Sophia, our guide was pleasant. It was a tad difficult to understand everything.. but it did state that English was not the primary language. It was a great value. Glad that we took this tour. Some hotels were too far away from the action. Some revision may be needed on the Washington DC portion, as we drove over an hour away to eat...did not make sense, but overall it was a lovely trip!
We took this tour in May and really enjoyed ourselves. The bus was very comfortable and even had points to charge the phones. Hotels were good but some were too far away and not too clean. Our guide Layla was really excellent. She was friendly, helpful, and informative.
