Day 1

This tour will begin after guests have gathered at the specified departure location. Today, we will take a trip through time as we learn about the local Jewish history in Prague. During this walking tour, we will see several important sites such as the Old Jewish Cemetery, the Old-New Synagogue, the Maisel Synagogue, the Spanish Synagogue, and the Pinkas Synagogue in central Europe's most famous Jewish Quarter. Afterwards, we will return to the departure location to bring the tour to an end. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations.

Prague, CZECH REPUBLIC

Prague has been an important city for 1,100 years. It is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic, features more than ten museums, and its historic city center is considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Old Jewish Cemetery

Used between the 15th and 18th centuries, this cemetery in the Jewish Quarter of Prague features many layers of graves and tombs on top of each other. Therefore it is unknown exactly how many people were buried there.

Old-New Synagogue

This Gothic synagogue in Prague's Jewish District opened in 1270, and is therefore the oldest active one in Europe. It is rumored that the Golem, a Jewish folkloric monster, rests in the attic.

Maisel Synagogue

This synagogue, built between 1590 and 1592, was named for the man who funded its construction. After it burnt down in 1689, it was rebuilt in a more Baroque style. Today, it houses a Jewish museum.

Spanish Synagogue

Built in 1868 in a Moorish revival style, this ornate synagogue in Prague is famous for both its front facade and intricate interior design. It is currently owned by the Jewish Museum of Prague.

Pinkas Synagogue

One of many synagogues in Prague, the Pinkas synagogue, opened in 1535, was once the private one of the Horowitz family. Today, it is a Holocaust memorial, with the names of over 77,000 Jewish victims on the wall.

This tour is available in English, German, Russian, French and Italian language.This tour takes place daily except Saturdays at 1.30 p.m.(13.30) from Narodni street 38. To book your tour call reservations. No free pick up at your hotel.From 1.4.2015 daily at 10:30 and 13:30.
This tour may not be available during Jewish festivals.
This is not suitable for those with physical disabilities.
Men are required to wear a head cover when entering the Jewish sanctuaries.
Children aged 1 years and younger may participate for free.
