The goal of this tour is to present a cross-section of the different sections of Bratislava, as opposed to merely the historical districts. The first half will be on foot, while the second will be via automobile. We will get the complete picture of the city on this excursion. After guests are picked up, we will hear a short introduction to the city before driving to the center of the old city, walking to Michalska Gate, the Main Square, the Old Town Hall, and the Primatial Palace. We may be able to enter this latter location. Then, we will continue to Reduta and the Cathedral of St. Martin. Afterwards, by car, we will pass the Presidential Palace, Bratislava Castle, the Parliament Building, and finally the Slavin Monument. After all of this, we will drive to Devin Castle, our final stop. Then, the tour will end. Please see "Departure and Return" for more detailed information regarding pickup and drop-off times and locations.

    Bratislava, Slovakia
Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, is a beautiful Central European city. Some of the most popular places in town are St. Martin's Cathedral, the Old Town, and Devin Castle.

    Michalska Gate

This is the only gate from the medieval fortifications of the old city of Bratislava that still stands. It is a white tower with a green top that looms over the rest of the old city.

    Main Square

Considered the center of the city, both old and new, Bratislava's Main Square is the location of the Old City Hall complex, as well as the Roland Fountain. Under Soviet occupation, it was renamed April 4th Square.

    Old Town Hall

This complex of buildings has served many functions since its inception in the 13th century., including a mint, a prison, and an armory. The Bratislava City Museum is located here, the oldest museum in the city.

    Primatial Palace

Built in the mid-18th century for the Archbishop of Bratislava, this neoclassical palace now serves as the home of the mayor of the city. The building is rich with history, having provided a location for the signing of peace treaties.

This building in Bratislava was built in 1919 on the site of the old town granary. Inside, there is a theater that houses the Bratislava Philharmonic Orchestra, one of Europe's most critically acclaimed music ensembles.

    St. Martin's Cathedral

Located in the historical center of the city, construction on this Gothic cathedral began in the mid-13th century, and it was finally consecrated in 1452. For a long period, it was the site of the coronations of Hungarian royalty.

    Grassalkovich Palace

This palace in Bratislava is the residence of the Slovakian president. It was designed in the Rococo architectural style of the late baroque period and includes a French garden.

    Bratislava Castle

A four-walled white building with red-orange roofing that rests on a hill above the rest of Bratislava overlooking the Danube River, the city's castle was originally built in the 9th century BCE.

    Parliament Building

Situated on the same hill as Bratislava Castle, this building is the location at which the Slovakian parliament convenes to make important governmental decisions. It is a very modern building with functionalist architectural themes.

    Slavin Memorial

This large war memorial in Bratislava stands as the centerpiece to a cemetery for those who died serving in the Soviet Army during World War II, falling under the genre of Stalinist architecture.

    Devin Castle

Now in ruins, this caste was once the main defensive fortification in the city of Bratislava. It was first built in the Middle Ages, but it was continually updated and enhanced through the 16th century.
