After going through various tour packages we finalised on tours booked by Take Tours starting and ending at Chicago.
Additionally other places like Detroit, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York, Niagara and Cleveland were covered.
Our journey started on 26-Jul-2018 from Chicago. Tour program was hectic, but we did not became tired.
Hotel and rooms were very good. Except one hotel all other hotels gave complimentary break fast.
Bus was in excellent condition and the driver Mr Arthur was very nice and drove very smooth.
Bus had mobile charger, on-board toilet and intermittently WiFi connection.
Tour guide Mr Peter was very good and very friendly, giving details about places.
Since the tour comprised many members from China and very few from other countries, tour guide gave explanations in English and Chinese language.
Since The tour is for only six days and the distance covered is about 3000 Km (1860 miles), time availability for Museums is very less.
Each museum require half day to one day visit. That is why visits to museums and IMAX movie is not worth in these type of tours.
Initially we paid US $ 531 per customer and later there was reduction in price to US $ 502, they refunded back the difference.
Suggestions:Trip can be planned with more time at Niagara and New York. Night view at Niagara was not given, which is a disappointment.
Coral was an amazing tour guide!!! We loved her enthusiasm, knowledge of history of placed visited, and helpfulness. The accommodations were pleasantly nice (Radisson, Reinnasance, Baymont). The only complain was the drivers attitude. He was great in his job i.e. driving especially in NYC, however, he could have been a bit more friendly or not rude to customers.
Overall it was a great trip for the cost and timeframe.
The itinerary is very compact and does not waste time. The tour guide is the best part. Very dedicated and caring for every traveler. My daughters love Metropolitan Museum, Mani's explanations let us fully understand this world-famous museum. He explained everything bilingually, full attention to English and non-English speaking travelers. And the arrangement for each stop is clear and plain. From gathering time to meals, he was capable to orgainize the tour very thoughtfully and give important suggestions. It was a great help for us to solve problems in many small matters. In short, I was very fortunate to meet this guide and I was very happy these days. Highly recommended!
If you want value for your money, then this tour is really worth it. I was traveling with my parents so that I can show them east coast of US in less time without making it too hectic for them, and was a bit skeptical whether they will enjoy this journey or not. However, to my utmost surprise, this turned out to be one of the very good tours. The guide, Peter, and the bus Driver is friendly, calm, and knows very well how to do his job. I appreciate the way he calmly handled situations when some passengers did not follow his guidelines and went to do their own mini tours once we got down into different tourist spots. We had the brand new Chicago classic Volvo bus. Driver was an amazing and friendly person who drove the bus smoothly and ensured that we reached the different places on time. This tour ensures that one gets to see the major cities in the east coast and spend quality time in the attraction spots within these six days. Pros: The hotels were really very good and some provided complimentary breakfast. Quality time spent in NYC, Washington, and Niagara.Getting to visit places like the Henry Ford museum, the Met museum, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a dream come true for those who love art, music, and history. The driver/guide allows passengers to carry food/drinks into the bus as long as you don't spill them and create a mess. The bus stops every two hours for restroom/coffee breaks. If you want to see the scenic beauty of America while traveling on road, this is the trip for you. Cons: The stops at Amish Farm and Potomac River Cruise could have been avoided especially one doesn't get to see the Pentagon, FBI/CIA headquarters as promised in the Potomac River Cruise itinerary. The stops at Baltimore and Pittsburgh could have been avoided as we didn't get to see much in those places. Rather, the halt at Philadelphia was surprisingly shorter especially since the city has a rich history and there so many places to explore. The guide makes an attempt to accompany you in most of the attractions. However, in some busy places like Times Square and the museums, you'll have to explore them by yourself. In short, this trip is worth it if you are interested in exploring the East Coast within a short period of time and reasonable budget
If you want value for your money, then this tour is really worth it. I was traveling alone and was a bit skeptical whether I will enjoy this journey or not. However, to my utmost surprise, this turned out to be one of the best tours I have taken in my life. Not only did I make good friends with other tourists in the bus, I found my travel companions through them. The guide, Peter, is friendly, calm, and knows very well how to do his job. I appreciate the way he calmly handled situations when some passengers did not follow his guidelines and went to do their own mini tours once we got down into different tourist spots. We had the bus and the driver changed a couple of times in the first three days but after that we had Tony as the driver. He is an amazing and friendly person who drove the bus smoothly and ensured that we reached the different places on time. This tour ensures that one gets to see the major cities in the east coast and spend quality time in the attraction spots within these six days.
Pros: The hotels were really very good and some provided complimentary breakfast. The driver/guide allows passengers to carry food/drinks into the bus as long as you don't spill them and create a mess. The bus stops every two hours for restroom/coffee breaks. We also got to have two good Chinese buffets for dinner and lunch at a very cheap price courtesy the guide.
Though, it was nice of the guide to give us a bus tour of the Pentagon when we complained about it. The stops at Baltimore and Pittsburgh could have been avoided as we didn't get to see much in those places. rather, the halt at Philadelphia was surprisingly shorter especially since the city has a rich history and there so many places to explore. The bus in the first 3 days was okayish and the seats were not that good especially those who have back pain. However, for the last three days, we got a bigger and better bus with good seats. The guide makes an attempt to accompany you in most of the attractions. However, in some busy places like Times Square and the museums, you'll have to explore them by yourself.
In short, this trip is worth it if you are interested in exploring the East Coast within a short period of time and reasonable budget. I am definitely going to plan a trip (perhaps to the national parks) with Take Tours soon.
Initially was hesitant to travel solo, but in the end not a bad trip. Was a small group 13 of us, so the bus was a smaller one - not the most comfortable ride.
Itinerary was very packed, could have easily spent one more day in DC to walk through the attractions versus drive to Maryland.
Overall if you want a quick sightseeing trip of east coast not a bad deal- but be prepared for very short visitation to all the major attractions.
Overall, it was a very good trip. Me and my family enjoyed very much and definitely worth the price. Our tour guide, Ms.Momo, and our driver, Mr.Josh, they are both very good. Momo told us many interesting things about the USA, she is very knowledge and experienced, we like her a lot. The bus we had is a 2017 brand new bus, very comfortable. The hotels of the tour were good, clean, some of the days it has free breakfast, but is not near city of attractions, overall value for money, and we are satisfied of this experience.
Me, my wife and my daughter took this tour. Overall the experience is good. Here is in depth explanation.
The tour started from Chicago morning by 8AM, the tour guide checks the ticket and assigns a number to the family, seats are allotted based on this. you get continuous seats. Bus is okay but not great considering USA has great buses. This tour is operated by a tour company, TakeTours is only the booking agency.
Most of the people are from China(around 60%), remaining are Indians(40%). Tour guides speaks and describes places in English followed by Chinese. Guide is cool, we need to stick to the time given for breaks/food/visit as it is going to be tight schedule for 6 days. One can sleep peacefully in bus during travel as there is enough driving all 6 days. All the crowd in our bus was very nice.
We visited Detroit, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Baltimore, New York, Niagara and Cleveland. Do not get carried away by all the places listed in this tour, guide will make attempt to cover but they do not follow full itinerary that is listed. We get enough time to visit and take pictures, e.g. in Niagara we got 2 hours to spend, in New York near Times Square we got 2 hours to spend.
All hotels (5 nights) where we stay are very nice, in couple of hotels we get complimentary breakfast. All other food we need to manage ourselves, they will stop at food points. During the travel they stop for restroom break for every 2 hours so that is not an issue at all either for Kids or for Elders. Guide's and Drivers service charge will be 8$/person/day will have to be given. Entries at all visiting points are optional, we select the places we want to enter and pay accordingly to the guide, he has readily made the tickets available so no waiting in queues. First day we reach hotel bit late by 11pm and start next day by 7:30 AM, all other days we reach hotels around 8:30 PM and next day we start by 6,7:30/8AM.
6th day we will reach back to Chicago (O'Hare airport) by 6:30PM. If you want to cover whole of east coast with all prominent places in less time and economically then this is the tour which matches your requirement. If you want to relax for days in each place then do not think of this tour, go on your own. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. My family was here in USA for 12 days and we covered lot of places in 6 days which are not covered by people who even stay for years in USA. I recommend this tour. Note: Though The tour company say they do not allow food inside the Bus, Guide allows to eat, do not make it dirty, thanks for allowing to eat inside the bus which is much required.
Go on Tour and enjoy the east coast.
It was worth and very well planned tour. Our tour guide Phoebe Chang is one of the finest lady I have met. She treats us like a family and take care of everyone. She loves her job and passionate about it, kudos to her. I will surely recommend anyone who wants to visit east coast and cover as much as possible in a duration of 6 days.
Initially I was very hesitant to book this tour as I was travelling alone, but it had been the most amazing experience of my life.
The group I traveled with was awesome! I made many new friends.
Hotels were good. Our tour guide and bus driver were also very friendly.
I would recommend this tour.
The Tour guide was having good knowledge but he needed to take more interest in explaining about the attractions. Many times he would just drop us at the designated areas and we had to do our own research.Accommodations were fantastic. The bus was okay I expected it to be better. Itinerary was really good. Overall a very satisfying experience. Value for money.
1) Covered almost all of the major attractions
2) Accommodation was very good.
1) Few places could be avoided. eg: Amish Village and Thundering Waters cultural show.
2) Accommodation for 5th night can be avoided in Jersey to some place en route of Niagara
Booked for my in-laws visiting from India. They got great travel companions, all enjoyed this trip. Famous locations, good accommodation in reasonable price. Itinerary could be improved, to spend more time in NYC. Guide were helpful. Overall great experience.
It was a good tour covering the prominent areas in 6 days. The travel was comfortable and the accommodation was excellent, though it was bit far from the City Areas. The Night Tour of NewYork was made in the same bus and was charging additional of $35 per person, which was bit unfair. Also, the accommodation provided was in the outskirts from the City Area and we don't have any chance to explore by our own. The Amish Farm could be avoided, instead provide more time in Niagara area. The Tour Guide could explain the areas in more elaborate manner.
Our tour guide, Evan, and bus driver, Jim, are awesome. Evan is very knowledge and experienced. Jim is very accommodating and provided excellent service. The hotels are nice and clean. The itinerary of the trip posted on TakeTours.com seems to be out of date. The hotels of the tour were not near city of attractions. They are located in between cities near the highway. Some of the attractions and activities listed on the itinerary were changed or removed from the tours.
Overall, the trip was good. Improvements can be made in the areas of itinerary so that more time time is allotted to sightseeing. Certain cities can be eliminated so that more time is available in Washington DC and Philadelphia. Tours guides should be given a thorough training so that they interact with the guests better. Overall the trip was good.
We took the 6 day Eastern American tour and we enjoyed our tour. We are from India. Our tour guide, Evan, was wonderful, patient, professional, and caring. Because we are vegetarian, every time we stopped for meal, he tried his best to tell us where we could have our meal and ask us every time if we got something to eat. We had a great trip. Even if it took a little bit more time on the bus, it was still worth taking it as a tour. I will recommend my friends to join the tour, and our guide already found some Indian restaurant for our people already. It will get better.
We are from Brazil and living in Chicago . I signed up the 6 days eastern American tour from this agency ! We have to say we had a wonderful trip, especially our tour guide Evan was amazing! We took the American West Coast tour with same agency before and the guide was really terrible and rude. We were actually a little worried at the bargaining of this tour however it turned out to a fantastic trip. Nice hotel, nice city, and excellent guide. He made our trip more interesting and he took care of everyone in our bus. We even missed a little part of our Niagara trip because the bus broke down, and our guide tried his best to comfort everyone, and brought us to The Falls eventually because we may miss it. We really appreciated The Falls in all. We strongly recommend this tour and our tour guide. It was fun!
Tour guide was fully on time and got along with the tourists and explained everything.
Accommodation was good but only two hotels provided complimentary breakfast (all should provide)
Bus seats were not comfortable, should be maintained regularly.
Itinerary was good but not impressive. More time should be given in Washington DC and Philadelphia. The island of Statue of Liberty was visit was cut short for the Amish Farm. The cruise on Potoamac can be avoided. The "Cave of the Winds" is included (time spent in Niagara should be more) New York night tour is not in Double Decker bus. Amount charged on the same bus is not acceptable.
The driver of the bus was friendly and the drive was very smooth and comfortable. The explanation in English should be more specific.
All together the tour was enjoyable, except the remarks appended above.
I will surely recommend this tour to my friends.
We absolutely enjoyed our trip. This tour was well organized and we had a wonderful tour guide who was named Evan Xiong. We are from Panama, and this was not our first time signed up with a Chinese travel agency, however this was our first time to have such a nice tour guide and bus tour. He was very patient and professional, taking care of everyone in his bus and solved some problem we had, making our trip go smoothly. I really appreciated it. We strongly recommended people to join this tour!
I took this 6 day tour. At the beginning I was worried as it's my first trip, but it came up as a great experience with a really nice guide and the safest driver. Our guide was really nice, and a caring person. His explanations were so good and simple, and he knew we were vegetarian, so after every lunch and dinner stops, he personally checked if we found our food or not. At times he was tough to some passengers but he was doing his job. He cared for other's time too. I am planning another trip next year with my family.
I sent my father and mother in law to this trip. Earlier I was not sure about the quality of service and accommodation facilities as I never heard of this earlier, but some how I took the risk and booked the tour. And believe me, the experience was awesome. Everything was too good. My parents in law are highly satisfied with the service. I would definitely recommend TakeTours to my other friends.
The tour guide was a wonderful person, he was so flexible, however I would say that it would have been even better had he chosen such eateries which would comply to the needs of everyone. It was a wonderful experience for an international student like me, visiting with his parents, and this trip was worth a lifetime.
I just took this tour with my parents and in-laws from Chicago, Illinois. I was scared before as I had not seen many reviews before about the tour. But the tour actually exceeded my expectations.
The itinerary was covered as promised. The hotel and facilities were good...guide was committed....explained facts about places....nice ..
Only improvement would be to have seat numbers for the bus instead of first come first serve... I recommend this tour....
First four days tour guide was fine (he is a good guy, Weng) but last two days tour guide was changed and she was terrible. My other friends who joined the tour, share same things. So I am not satisfied because of the last two days. But it is different experience for me and I had a chance to see important places such as New York, DC and Niagara Falls.
