Day 1: Mexico City

Today we will meet the group and tour guide at our hotel in Mexico City in the evening. Then we will make a welcome meeting, optional welcome & get-together with the group in one of local restaurants or bars.

Day 2: Mexico City

Today we will spend the whole day exploring Mexico City: we will go for a walking tour of Historic Centre of Mexico City, then take a boat tour at Xochimilco. Afterwards we will take a guided tour in National Anthropology Museum. Then we could enjoy dinner at your own expenses & get-together with the group in the evening.

    Xochimilco

    Xochimilco is the Historic Center of Mexico City. Situated on the southern shore of Lake Xochimilco, the borough is best known for its canal system and trajinera rides (gondola-like boats). This popular tourist attraction provides fascinating atmosphere, food, and music.

    National Museum of Anthropology

    National Museum of Anthropology is the largest and most visited museum in Mexico. It contains the world's largest collection of ancient Mexican art and also has ethnographic exhibits about Mexico's present-day indigenous groups.

Day 3: Mexico City - Tlalpujahua - Morelia (224 km)

In the morning, we will go to Tlalpujahua. We will visit local mining museum, take a walking tour around the historic center and then enjoy optional lunch. Then we will continue to Morelia. After that, we will check-in our hotel and walk around the historic center. In the evening we will enjoy dinner & get-together with the group in one of local restaurants/bars.

Day 4: Morelia - Tzintzuntzan - Janitzio - Patzcuaro (58 km)

In the morning we will go to Tzintzuntzan. After a walking tour around the town and visit to nearby pyramids, we will take a boat to Isla de Janitzio - the main island of Lake Patzcuaro. In the afternoon, we will go to Patzcuaro: check-in, rest and also enjoy an evening walking tour around the historic center. Then we could have an optional dinner & get-together with the group in one of the local restaurants or bars.
  • Tzintzuntzan, MX

    It is best known as the former capital of the Tarascan state until it was conquered by the Spanish in the 1520s. Today, Tzintzuntzan is a small town with two major attractions, the archeological site of Tzintzuntzan and the former monastery complex of San Francisco.
  • Isla de Janitzio, MX

    The main island of Lake Pátzcuaro in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. The town of Janitzio is located atop the hill. Janitzio can only be reached by boats which run regularly back and forth from about 7:30 am to 6 pm, accessible from Patzcuaro's pier (embarcadero).

Day 5: Patzcuaro - Paricutin Volcano - Uruapan (149 km)

In the morning we will go to Angahuan, a starting point for a 6-hour hiking to Paricutin. Accompanied by a local guide, we will reach the top of the volcano by horse, visiting abandoned ruins of San Juan Parangaricutiro Church on the way back. After that, we will go back to Angahuan, which is a traditional Purepecha community. After an optional lunch and orientation walk around the village, we will go to Uruapan where will take a walking tour around the historic center, enjoy an optional dinner and then get-together with the group in one of the local restaurants or bars.

  • Paricutin Volcano, MX

    Although the larger region still remains highly active volcanically, Paricutin is now dormant and has become a tourist attraction, with people climbing the volcano and visiting the hardened lava-covered ruins of the San Juan Parangaricutiro Church. In 1997, CNN included Paricutin in its list of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.

Day 6: Uruapan - Paracho - Camecuaro National Park - Zamora (72 km)

We will start the day by visiting Barranca del Cupatitzio. Then we will go to Paracho, a small town famous for handcrafting the best guitars in the world. Afterwards we will continue to visit a beautiful lake called Camecuaro. After a picturesque hiking, we will go on a boat ride on the lake and enjoy optional lunch. We will then go to Zamora for check-in and enjoy rest time of the day.

    Barranca del Cupatitzio National Park

    The park is known for its abundant streams and springs, many of which cascade down the sides of the ravine to form small waterfalls. Inside, the ground is soft and wet, with broad-leafed temperate and tropical vegetation, various walking paths near the river, and a number of artificial fountains built on the sides of the ravine to take advantage of natural water flows.
  • Paracho de Verduzco, MX

    A small city located in Michoacán, Mexico well known throughout both Mexico and elsewhere in the world as a hub of lutherie. This is because the town's craftsmen are reputed to make the best sounding guitars and vihuelas in all of Mexico. The town is full of music shops that sell handmade stringed instruments.

Day 7: Zamora - Cuitzeo - Los Azufres (188 km)

In the morning go to Cuitzeo. Upon a walking tour around its historic center, we will go to Los Azufres. There you can relax your body and mind with thermal water, massages, traditional temazcal, and other medical procedures. Optional farewell dinner & get-together in the local restaurant in the evening.

Day 8: Los Azufres - Mexico City (122 km)

Today we will head to Mexico City in the morning. In winter, we will visit nearby Monarch Butterfly UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. In summer, we will visit nearby Angangueo instead: walking tour around the historic center and optional lunch. We will arrival in Mexico City in the afternoon.

  • Booking changes
    A fee may be charged for any revision or alteration made to a reservation after the booking is confirmed. Name changes or corrections may be treated as a cancellation and cancellation fees will apply. A change of tour date or tour itinerary may be treated as a cancellation, and normal cancellation fees will apply.
  • Cancellations and Cancellation Fees
    Regardless of reason, cancellations result in costly charges from our travel and hotel providers covering penalties and fees incurred by canceling confirmed and pending bookings. Therefore, cancellation penalties and or fees will apply. Time of cancellation will be determined when notice is received and confirmed by our office. Notice of cancellation must be made directly to TakeTours by email or through web mail at Contact Us .
  • Cancellation penalties per person (Notification day and departure day are not counted)
    60 days or more prior to departure - No cancellation penalty.
    30-59 days prior to departure - 25% of total purchase amount.
    15-29 days prior to departure - 50% of total purchase amount.
    Less than 15 days prior to departure - 100% of total purchase amount
    Day of departure - 100% per person.
    Unused features are non-refundable. No shows forfeit entire payment.
    Trips require a minimum number of participants to avoid cancellation. We reserve the right to cancel a schedule trip to fully refund affected customers although tour companies will make every efforts to maintain the normal operation.
    Cancellation penalties of all extra services booked with us (airport transfers, pre and post night accommodations, single room surcharge and additional activities):
    31 days or more prior to departure - No cancellation penalty.
    30 days or less prior to departure - 100% of the price of extra services.
    NOTE: There is 6% handling fee add-on to the above penalties. We cannot grant any refunds more than 30 days after completion of tour.
  • Itinerary Variations
    We constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.
  • Tour Cancellation:
    We reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure* of the tour, TakeTours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour. Please note that we are not liable for any cancellation penalties incurred on any other travel arrangements including air tickets purchased separately from customers. We are not responsible for any other travel arrangements affected due to our cancellations.
