I would definitely recommend booking through TakeTours, especially if you don't speak the native language and aren't too familiar with the area. The tour operator was very good as well. The tour guide was professional and friendly. I am glad that I joined a group tour and met some fun people.

Highlights
Hop on the Peru Railway for a relaxing and scenic journey from Cuzco all the way to Aguas Calientes where you will have plenty of time to enjoy this quaint mountain town and stretch your legs by walking to Mandor Waterfall or Putucusi Mountain followed by a relaxing dip in the spacious hot springs. The famous Inca citadel and "lost city" awaits you just up the hill from Aguas Calientes where a day of exploration with an English speaking guide will certainly be one of the most unforgettable experiences of your trip.
Itinerary
Today we will gather in Cuzco, CUS, Peru. During your pre-departure briefing in Cuzco, guests will receive all tickets for the buses, trains, and entry to Machu Picchu. For the majority of this 2-day trip, we will not be accompanied by a guide. Guests will only have a guide for the Machu Picchu tour.
Today we will transfer by car to Ollantaytambo, CUS and from there journey to Aguas Calientes, CUS by train. Guests may take an optional 1.5-hour tour up to the Mandor Waterfalls. At 6:00pm, the guide will meet us at the hotel for a quick briefing.
Ollantaytambo, Peru
This small town north of Cuzco is built around an archaeological site. At the height off the Inca Empire, Ollantaytambo was the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti. It is one of the starting points of the Inca Trail.
Aguas Calientes, Peru
This town sits 20 minutes down the mountain from Machu Picchu. Its name, "hot waters" in English, derives from the presence of numerous thermal springs in the area that make thisvillage a great place to relax after a hike.
We will catch one of the first buses to Machu Picchu so that we may see the early morning light over this amazing place. After a two-hour walking tour, guests will have time to explore on their own. Those who still have energy can climb Huayna Picchu, a mountain in the middle of the ancient town. We will return to Aguas Calientes in the afternoon and from there take a train to Ollantaytambo and then a bus back to Cuzco.
