After an early breakfast, you will descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater to witness the unique ecosystem that inhabits more than 25,000 resident animals, making it the world's largest volcanic caldera and a must-see natural wonder for safari enthusiasts. The grass and acacia forest offer sightings of almost every animal species of the East African savannah, including the Big Five (rhino, elephant, buffalo, lion, and leopard), along with herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Predators are also plentiful, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which requires a trained eye to spot sometimes. After a picnic lunch, we'll make a steep ascent to the top exit of the crater. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa - the Serengeti National Park - with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a valuable water source to this area and therefore attracts wildlife well representative of most of the Serengeti's species.
