Full description
The basic tour at Akumal Monkey Sanctuary offers an educational and bonding experience with rescued animals, including primates, birds, and reptiles.
It's an ideal activity for families and nature lovers looking for an enriching and conservation-oriented experience. We'll learn about the importance of wildlife for environmental preservation in a lush vegetation setting.
A professional will guide you through the sanctuary and share information about the animals. They will tell stories about how many of these species arrived at the sanctuary, several of them rescued from poachers. Our guide is bilingual in English and Spanish.
You'll have the opportunity to bond with several unique animal species in an educational setting. During your visit to the sanctuary, you'll meet species such as spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, macaws, fallow deer, and snakes.
You'll also have the opportunity to bond with some of the animals. The purpose of this experience is to observe their natural behaviours and expressions. You will be able to observe and approach the animals in a respectful and friendly manner. They are housed in secure enclosures and cared for by trained personnel.
