The day begins with a visit to Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, famous for its surreal rock formations shaped by nature into intriguing figures that spark the imagination.
The tour continues to Pashabagi (Monks Valley), where Christian hermits once lived in cells and churches carved into the iconic three-headed fairy chimneys, symbolizing the Holy Trinity. This area offers a unique opportunity to observe the different stages in the formation of Cappadocia’s famous fairy chimneys.
Next, you proceed to Avanos, located along the banks of the Kizilirmak (Red River), named for its red clay deposits. Here, you will see local potters at work continuing centuries-old traditions, followed by lunch at a local restaurant.
The journey then leads to the Göreme Open-Air Museum, home to some of the world’s most important Byzantine cave churches. These valleys once sheltered monks and nuns who pursued monastic life from the 3rd century onward, leaving behind remarkable frescoes and rock-cut sanctuaries.
A panoramic stop at Esentepe offers a breathtaking view over Göreme Village and Valley, showcasing fairy chimneys, unique rock formations, and cave houses.
The tour concludes with a visit to Uchisar Castle, the highest point in the region, providing stunning views over Cappadocia’s extraordinary landscape.
