Located just 16 miles (26 km) west of central Shanghai, you will find the charming water village ofZhujiajiao, an ancient water town besetting in lakes and mountains. The old bridges, well‐structured courtyards and calm rivers and shy willows, all make the town a land of antiquity, leisure and tranquility. Endowed with another elegant name ‐ 'Pearl Stream' ‐ Zhujiajiao is the best‐preserved among the four ancient towns in Shanghai.
As you stroll around this 400-year-old picturesque water village, you will be able to appreciate the architecture and beauty. Browse traditional shops where you can taste delicious local snacks and practice your bargaining skills.
What´s more, sit back and enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the waterways, where you will meander through the ancient village and admire the traditional mixture of both brick and wooden houses and pass under unique and quirky bridges and feel the essence of a time gone by.
On the way back to the city (if time permits), there will be a stop by a silk mill to experience South China's authentic silk-making process.
