Full description

Embark on an exhilarating off-road adventure through the rugged beauty of Central Australia in a custom-designed 4x4 vehicle built to handle the region’s challenging terrain.

This immersive journey takes you to remote and awe-inspiring destinations that are otherwise difficult to reach. Travel along the edge of the ancient Finke River—believed to be one of the oldest rivers in the world—and venture deep into the breathtaking landscapes of Finke Gorge National Park.

One of the highlights of the tour is a visit to the stunning Palm Valley, a unique oasis filled with rare and resilient Red Cabbage Palms that thrive in this desert environment. Along the way, your knowledgeable guide will share insights into the area's geological and cultural significance, enriching your experience at every stop.

You'll also explore the historic Aboriginal community of Hermannsburg, known to the local Western Arrernte people as ‘Ntaria.’ Here, you’ll learn about its rich history as a former Lutheran mission and its connection to renowned Aboriginal artist Albert Namatjira.

To top it all off, enjoy a relaxing morning or afternoon tea surrounded by spectacular outback scenery. This adventure offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and thrilling exploration in the heart of Australia’s Red Centre.

Travel by 4x4 Through the West MacDonnell Ranges to Hermannsburg, an Aboriginal community and historic precinct which is renowned for its Aboriginal art collection and the works of Albert Namatjira. Either morning tea is provided in Hermannsburg.

Travel down the bed of the Finke River One of oldest water courses in the world, into Palm Valley.

See spectacular rock forms, white sands and an oasis of rock pools and palm trees. Some plants such as the cycad and 'Livistonia Mariae' (cabbage palm) are known world-wide as relic plants and are unique to Central Australia.

Visit a spectacular rock formation known as the Ampitheatre. Enjoy a picnic lunch this afternoon.

Relax and enjoy the changing colours of the magnificent West MacDonnell Ranges in the afternoon light.
