There is no better way to enjoy the afternoon in the Netherlands than to visit the windmills at Zaanse Schans, the economic engine of the country between the 16th and 18th centuries, when the Dutch took advantage of the force of the wind to grind the spices they brought back from their colonies, to make oils, mustards, and more.
Visit a traditional mill and learn about the operation and part of the grinding of spices followed by a visit to clog's workshops, where they will show you the method of manufacturing this traditional Dutch footwear.
Finally, you will visit a cheese factory where you'll taste a great variety of Dutch cheeses and where they will explain the process of making these delicacies.
Before returning to Amsterdam, enjoy free time to stroll around Zaanse Schans and take the best pictures.
