Day 1: Antalya

Welcome to Antalya, Turkey! Upon arrival, we'll be waiting to transfer you to the hotel. Information about the meeting place and time can be found on the information boards in the hotel reception area.

In the afternoon, we'll embark on a brief tour of Antalya, a coastal city with more than a million inhabitants. We'll see Hadrian's Gate, the Ottoman district, and the stunning waterfall that flows straight into the sea. Dinner will be included.

    Antalya is a Mediterranean city on the southern shore of Turkey, founded in the second century BCE. It draws many tourists, especially yacht-owners, who find a welcoming port-of-call in its harbor. The area has many Ottoman-era houses and buildings.

Day 2: Antalya - Aspendos - Side - Karaman - Nigde

We'll leave Antalya and head to Aspendos to visit its Roman theater, often regarded as the best-preserved in the world. Afterward, we'll continue to Side, where you'll have the chance to admire the Temple of Apollo by the sea. There will be time to stroll through its bustling port and lively streets. As we travel through stunning landscapes, we'll cross the Taurus Mountains, with peaks that rise over 3,500 meters and remain snow-covered for most of the year. We'll stop in Karaman to see its fortress from the outside before continuing to the Cappadocia region. Dinner will be included in Nigde.

    Aspendos, Turkey, boasts one of the best-preserved Roman theaters (2nd century AD), famed for its perfect acoustics. This ancient Pamphylian city also features a Roman aqueduct, agora, and basilica.

Day 3: Nigde - Kaymakli underground city - Uchisar - Goreme Valley - Avanos

We'll spend the entire day exploring the incredible region of Cappadocia, famous for its lunar-like landscapes, ancient churches, and troglodyte villages. We'll begin with a visit to Gumusler, a fascinating 7th-century underground monastery featuring some of the finest Byzantine frescoes in Turkey. In Kaymacli, we'll explore the underground city that could once house up to 30,000 people. Then, we'll visit Uchisar, a natural fortress offering breathtaking views. After lunch, we'll discover the Goreme Valley, home to an open-air museum where we can marvel at the rock-cut churches (tickets included). Our accommodation will be in Avanos and dinner will be included.

At the far edge of Cappadocia, we'll visit the Ihlara Valley, famous for its cool waters and its rock-cut churches and villages. Our itinerary includes visits to a 13th-century caravanserai and the Mevlana Mausoleum (Rumi) in Konya, where we'll learn about the Dervish order. Dinner will be included. In the evening, we recommend attending a dervish dance performance at the cultural center.

    Mevlana Museum

    This museum was built in the mausoleum of Jalal ad-Din Muhammed Rumi, a Persian Sufi mystic, most commonly known as Rumi. Because he was the founder of the whirling dervishes, many of the exhibits are dedicated to their history.

Day 5: Konya - Egridir - Pamukkale (302 km)

We take a scenic road between the lakes, and get to know Egridir, a beautiful town next to a large lake, with its walls and mosques. There’s time to have lunch. We then continue to Pamukkale- Hierapolis, whose calcareous waters have created the Cotton Castle (entrance included). Dinner included

    Hierapolis

    Translated from ancient Greek, Hierapolis means "Holy City." Built atop the hot springs near Pamukkale, the city was abandoned in the late medieval period. It's Roman theater is one of the best-preserved examples of such theaters in the world.

Day 6: Pamukkale - Kusadasi (167 km)

We leave in the direction of Ephesus, the best preserved ancient city of Asia Minor; 2000 years ago it had a quarter of a million inhabitants. We will discover the house of the Virgin Mary, the Basilica of Saint John and the impressive ruins at Ephesus (entrance included). We then go on to Kusadasi, a popular coastal town with a lot of atmosphere, commercial life and a small castle. Dinner included.

Note: During high season, from May through October, accommodations will be provided in Aydin instead of Kusadasi. In this case, after exploring Ephesus, we’ll make a stop in Kusadasi (4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.), where we’ll include a panoramic tour of the city before continuing on to Aydin.

    Ephesus

    The amphitheater at the ruins of Ephesus is still in excellent condition. The Library of Celsus, the Temple of Hadrian, and the Basilica are other notable buildings. The Temple of Artemis was located on the outskirts of the city.

    House of the Virgin Mary

    This small cottage in the hills above Ephesus is supposedly the home where Mary, mother of Jesus, lived out her life after the events of the New Testament. It is regarded as a holy site for both Christians and Muslims.

Day 7: Kusadasi - Izmir - Bursa - Istanbul (11529 km)

We leave for the city with the fourth largest population in Turkey: Izmir. We make a brief visit with our guide to this city considered the most westernized and modern city in the country in terms of values, ideology and lifestyle. We then return to inland Turkey. Stop en route for lunch before reaching Bursa, the fourth largest city in Turkey, whose historic centre has been declared UNESCO World Heritage, with its traditional commercial districts, mosques, religious schools, public baths … The green mosque stands out. Arrival in Istanbul at the end of the day.

    Modern, industrial Bursa is built around the mosques, mausoleums and other sites from its incarnation as first Ottoman capital. Despite being built-up and somewhat chaotic, its durable Ottoman core and abundant parks keep it remarkably placid in places.

Day 8: Istanbul

A sightseeing tour of the city awaits us. On our tour, we´ll enter the Suleymaniye Mosque, the largest in Istanbul, we'll explore the ancient walls, the Golden Horn, the bustling fishing district and we´ll marvel at the exterior of Hagia Sophia. Our tour also includes tickets to visit the Topkapi Palace, once the administrative heart of the Ottoman Empire, with its magnificent courtyards and pavilions. In the afternoon, you´ll have free time to explore this city spanning two continents.

As the afternoon draws to a close, we'll arrange a transfer to Taksim, the city´s most vibrant commercial district. There, you'll have time to dine at one of its many restaurants and see the charming old tram that runs through the area. Alternatively, you can visit the nearby Galata Tower.

    Suleymaniye Mosque

It is also one of the most important cultural heritage buildings in Turkey. It is the largest in the city of Istanbul and also boasts of one of the best-known panoramas in the city.

    Hagia Sophia (Outside Visit)

    The Hagia Sophia ("Holy Wisdom" in English) is a former Greek Orthodox basilica, built in the 6th century by the Byzantines, that was later converted to an imperial mosque under Ottoman rule. It now houses a museum.

    Topkapi Palace

    This magnificent palace in Istanbul was once home to all the Ottoman sultans until the reign of Abdulmecid I (1839-1860). The complex served as a royal residence and a setting for various state occasions and royal entertainment.

    Taksim Square

    Considered the heart of modern Istanbul, Taksim Square is one of the city’s main tourist attractions and cosmopolitan hubs. Here, you can find a variety of restaurants, bars, clubs, theaters and shopping stores.

Day 9: Private boat on the Bosphorus

Today, we'll embark on a boat trip on the Bosphorus (tickets included), lasting about two hours on a private boat exclusively for Europamundo travelers. This journey will take us through the strait that connects the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara, dividing Istanbul between its European and Asian sides. We'll enjoy the lively activity of the strait with its many boats. We'll pass under the two bridges that link Europe and Asia and admire the Sultan's palaces, traditional wooden houses, and Ottoman architecture. Afterward, we'll return to central Istanbul and have some free time.

    50% of total fee and 118 dollars will be charged if cancel or change within 15 days before departure date (not including departure date).
    75% of total fee and 118 dollars will be charged if cancel or change within 7 days before departure date (not including departure date).
    Absolutely NO refund on all cancellations or postponements within 1 day prior to departure (not including departure date).

    We constantly strives to improve tour itineraries and features. If such improvements can be made, or unforeseen circumstances beyond our control make changes necessary - we reserve the right to vary itineraries and to substitute hotels. At certain peak periods duplicate departures may operate, and sometimes in reverse order in which case hotels may vary from those stated on the itinerary pages.
  • Tour Cancellation:
    We reserves the right to cancel or re-schedule any tour departure in accordance with operating requirements or circumstances beyond its control. If cancellation is made any time prior to departure* of the tour, TakeTours' only liability will be to refund to the passenger the amount it has received for the tour booking. We will try to re-book the same or similar tour..
