Itinerary
Pick-up from your hotel in Bangkok to meet the group and depart from Century Park Hotel at 9:00. Visit the Golden Mount (Wat Saket). Continue for a walk through the lively neighbourhood of Chinatown, followed by a visit to Pak Khlong Talat, the largest fresh flower market in Bangkok. After lunch, board a traditional long-tail boat and take a tour through the canals. Arrive by boat to Baan Silapin, the Artist's House, which dates back more than 200 years, for a spectacular traditional performing art puppeteer show. Nowadays, this area of canal homes has become a popular attraction and the boardwalk leading to the house now hosts several shops and tiny restaurants. After the show, continue to Kanchanaburi via Nakhon Pathom to visit the Phra Pathom Chedi, the tallest stupa in the world at 127 metres high. Enjoy dinner at your leisure.
Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok is the capital city of Thailand. More than fourteen million people live in the greater Bangkok area around the Chao Phraya River delta, almost a quarter of the country's population. It is one of the world's most-visited cities.
Wat Saket
Perched on Bangkok‘s only artificial hill in the old city, Wat Saket’s golden chedi rises 77 metres and enshrines Buddha relics. A spiral climb of some 300-plus steps rewards visitors with a 360-degree panorama of the capital—one of the classic vantage points of Rattanakosin.
Chinatown
The main artery of Bangkok‘s Chinatown, laid out in 1891 and locally called “New Road.” Gold shops, legacy eateries, and street-food stalls pack its length, making it the city’s most atmospheric district for multicultural heritage and night-time food exploration.
Pak Khlong Talat
Bangkok‘s largest 24-hour wholesale and retail flower market. Roses, orchids, lilies, and more flow through its stalls, with the peak bustle at dawn. It remains a vivid window into local commerce and floral culture near the Chao Phraya River.
Baan Silapin
A century-old wooden house on a Bangkok canal, now an art gallery and traditional puppet theatre. Free Thai puppet shows are staged daily except Wednesdays, while the surrounding canal-side boardwalk hosts small shops and cafés in a relaxed, nostalgic community setting.
Nakhon Pathom, Thailand
One of Thailand’s oldest cities and the cradle of Theravada Buddhism in the country. Its Pali name means “First City,” and it is dominated by the world’s tallest stupa, Phra Pathom Chedi, which remains a major pilgrimage site for Thai Buddhists.
Phra Pathommachedi
The tallest stupa in the world, rising about 127 metres in a golden, bell-shaped form. As the symbol of Nakhon Pathom and a milestone of Thai Buddhist architecture, it enshrines sacred relics and dominates the provincial skyline.
Hit the road after breakfast at the hotel to visit the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, and the famous iron bridge over the River Kwai. After lunch, continue onwards to Ayutthaya. Enjoy a visit to the Ayutthaya Floating Market. This floating market, located in a large pond with an island in the middle, helps conserve the traditional Thai lifestyle of the Ayutthaya era. With 50 paddleboats and over 200 shops offering local goods and food products, the market offers a memorable shopping and sightseeing experience.
Kanchanaburi, Thailand
Kanchanaburi is a province in western Thailand famous for the Bridge over the River Kwai and its WWII history. It features stunning natural attractions including waterfalls, national parks and caves, making it an ideal destination for history and nature lovers.
Thailand-Burma Railway Centre
An interactive museum and research centre in Kanchanaburi. Through photographs, artefacts and reconstructed scenes, it documents the construction of the Thailand–Burma Railway and the harrowing ordeal of the POWs and Asian labourers who built it.
War Cemetery
The principal POW cemetery for those who died building the Burma Railway. Nearly 7,000 graves lie in immaculate, solemn rows on quiet lawns, a moving tribute to the victims of the “Death Railway”.
River Kwai
Famous historical bridge in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, known for its association with the Death Railway built during WWII. This iron bridge spans the River Kwai and serves as an important war memorial amidst scenic surroundings.
Ayutthaya, Thailand
The former capital of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province in Thailand. The city is about 40 miles (64 km) north of Bangkok and famous for the Ayutthaya Historical Park.
Ayothaya Floating Market
A cultural theme market built around an artificial pond to evoke Ayutthaya-era water-based life. Fifty paddleboats and over 200 shops line the water, offering handicrafts and local food—a relaxed way to experience traditional Thai market culture.
After a tasty breakfast at the hotel, depart by tuk-tuk to visit some of the most important temples and ruins in the historical city of Ayutthaya, including Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Viharn Phra Mongkol Bophit, and the famous tree-entwined Buddha head at Wat Phra Mahathat. After snapping some great photos, continue to the province of Nakhon Nayok. Before sitting down for lunch, you will have the opportunity to assist the local chefs in preparing a delicious meal, or just to listen to an introduction to authentic Thai cooking class (in English). Enjoy your freshly prepared lunch in a local, simple garden house. After savouring this tasty meal, continue to Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam, the longest dam construction in the kingdom. Afterwards, visit the Royal Project agricultural site under the patronage of King Bhumibol, and see rice planting in action. Enjoy a cup of coffee, tea, and fresh fruit before returning to Bangkok with drop off at the city centre.
Ayutthaya, Thailand
The former capital of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province in Thailand. The city is about 40 miles (64 km) north of Bangkok and famous for the Ayutthaya Historical Park.
Wat Phra Si Sanphet
Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the holiest temple on the site of the old Royal Palace in Thailand's ancient capital of Ayutthaya until the city was completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. It was the grandest and most beautiful temple in the capital and it served as a model for Wat Phra Kaeo in Bangkok.
Viharn Phra Mongkol Bophit
Adjacent to Wat Phra Si Sanphet, this assembly hall enshrines one of Thailand’s largest bronze seated Buddhas. Standing about 17 metres tall and covered in gold leaf, the image survived war and restoration and remains Ayutthaya’s most actively worshipped site.
Wat Mahathat
The Wat Mahathat is a Buddhist temple in Ayutthaya, central Thailand.
Nakhon Nayok, Thailand
A small central province about 106 km from Bangkok, known for its refreshing waterfalls, seasonal fruits, and natural scenery. Home to the massive Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam and gateway to Khao Yai National Park, it is a popular eco-day-trip escape from the capital.
Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam
A multi-purpose dam initiated by King Bhumibol, built as a roller-compacted concrete structure 2,594–2,720 metres long and 93 metres high, with a storage capacity of 224 million cubic metres. Widely cited as the world‘s longest RCC dam, its crest offers views over Khao Yai National Park and Nakhon Nayok.
